  • Well I won't say I'm ripped... yet. But I'm working towards it and I really like the results I've gotten. I have about 5 more pounds to go to hit my weight goal. Been at it for about 2 years now. Lost 42 pounds total. It's been a slow process but I opted for that approach. Like you I've gained a ton of strength and…
  • I use Amino X Fruit Punch and I drink it mostly once per day. I've read a good amount of the articles and I realize with my level of protein intake I more then likely am not seeing any benefit from the Amino X. But it's delicious and even if it's just snake oil it's really good snake oil. As long as I can afford them I'll…
  • I must have one of the good instructors then because by the end of class I am spent. I've done Insanity and Krav pushes my limits to the edge way further then Insanity did. The resistance of the bag work for those 2 minute intervals is intense. Like anything else you get what you put in, if you're dogging it you just…
  • There is a T25 calculator you can find on Google. But from what I remember it's calorie burn estimates were pretty high. When I first started T25 I just used the "general circuit training" entry in MFP. I believe for 25 minutes it gives you like 200-250 cals burned. Or you could make your own custom entries for each video…
  • I don't really care what an article says. I know what my body says. And it says a warm up and cool down is needed. For warm up I just use dynamic stretches to get the blood flowing and I do deep static stretching immediately after my workout and usually again later in the day.
  • That's the schedule for Alpha. When you reach Beta just google "T25 Beta Schedule". As far as bands you won't need them until Beta (IIRC). What you need is a good pair of shoes, a yoga mat, and determination. The Alpha phase is very lower body and core intense. Your legs, thighs, calves are going to ache and throb until…
  • Well what do you mean by great? Taste wise or nutritional value?
  • The calories and sugar to protein ratio isn't very good. I would try to find another one you like. As the poster above said Pure Protein and Quest are both delicious and are much less calories (if you are trying to eat at a deficit) with the same amount of protein.
  • 6 or 7 days a week with a 4/3 or 4/2 split weights to cardio. - Cardio consists of Krav Maga on Tuesday, Thurs, and Sat morning for 60 mins - Weights are in line with the 4 day breadown (legs, chest/tris, back/bis, shoulders). But I'm looking into going more towards stronglifts 5x5 soon - Also try and walk 10k steps a day…
  • At my Krav school it's just: White Yellow Red Black With the stripe system in between belts to track your progress.
  • Well since you mention improving health and "strength" then should def start getting into some resistance training. Whether through weights, bands, body weight. I personally like to do about a 50/50 split between resistance training and cardio throughout the week. Because I value both my cardiovascular health and my…
  • You walk by a group of dudes and ponder how you would go about defending yourself if they all attacked you at once. Which guy poses the biggest threat and how to take him out the quickest etc. etc.
  • Krav Maga (white belt) had my first stripe test last night and passed. Trying for yellow belt. Eventually want to get to black if possible. School is expensive as hell though >:(
  • I will say this. I used to do alot of martial art based workout videos. They would give me a good/decent workout. But once I actually starting MA training and hitting actual bags I was astounded at the difference in exertion. Not only that but the release of stress by actually hitting something. I don't do kick boxing I do…
  • I love me some cereal. Kashi toasted berry crumble is my absolute favorite.
  • I eat alot of the same stuff. I'm a creature of routine and habit so for me logging is pretty easy. Dinner being the only meal where I have to actually log a breakdown of the ingredients. I don't really prep at all. Just log as I go, keep an eye on my macros and switch up my food choices based on where I am at throughout…

  • Depends on the day. If it's a weight lifting day I'll eat some cheese and crackers or a banana just to give me some carbs to burn and keep my energy up. On Cardio days I have Krav Maga classes in the evening so I switch up my eating schedule on those days. I cannot do that class with a heavy belly (learned the hard way) so…
  • I've used BSN Amino X (Fruit Punch is my fav) for about a year now. I can't honestly say it does anything. I feel like it helps with soreness and muscle recovery but it could just be placebo effect. But I love the taste of it and for me it's like drinking kool aid with benefits. If you can find it cheap I think it's worth…
  • Awesome post! Never realized all the benefits. Thanks! Me personally I do cardio 3 times a week just to have an overall balance to my fitness. Resistance and weights are important but I feel like taking care of my heart and cardiovascular system is just as important to my overall health, fitness, and longevity. Plus it's a…
  • I bought it when it launched to see all the neat new charts and whatnots. It's not worth it. I do like to keep an eye on my micros but I don't find myself looking at it enough to warrant the cost. So I won't be buying it again. You live you learn.
  • Been struggling on my last 7 pounds for months now. Really wanted to hit my goal before autumn so I could go into a bulk phase. Not looking like I'm going to make it. I'm just slowly cutting back my daily cals in small increments until the scale starts moving again. :s
  • Is it like circuits? If so you can use the general circuit training entry. Or create your own custom entries for each video.
  • You can use the general circuit training entry. Or create your own custom entries for each video. There is a couple of online calculators you can use to try and figure out cal burns but I found them to be very high in estimation. You could go the HRM route but they are not accurate for circuits or HIIT like T25. They can…
  • Yea but it's 25 mins of straight work. Where as Insanity is 45 mins it's 9 minute warm ups, 6 minute stretch, 20 mins of circuits with breaks, then cool down and stretch. T25 cuts all that out except the end cool down and that's after the 25 minutes. I saw you're on day 3 already. My advice is to dynamic stretch first…
  • You can go the HRM route but understand it will only be a ballpark estimation and could be up to 25% inaccurate when used for stuff like circuits and HIIT. When I first started I used an HRM for T25 and Insanity and my HRM was giving me considerably less calorie burned numbers then all the online calculators and MFP was.…
  • Not boxing but I started Krav Maga a couple of weeks ago and it's alot of bag/pad work. I thought my cardio was pretty high but man hitting those bags for 2 minute intervals like that gets me sucking wind fast! I was astounded by how much of a workout it was. Side note.. I was only wearing MMA gloves when I first started…
  • I was tempted to subscribe to Daily Burn because I can get it on the Roku. Are you doing Black Fire? It looks like it's pretty intense.
  • You could follow the recommended eating plan included with Insanity or go to the TDEE method and use that with MFP. I do alot of the Beachbody programs and I use TDEE. Basically this way I don't have to worry about logging accurate calorie burns for my workouts. I just log them as 1 calorie burned and eat my recommended…
  • I prefer active rest days. Sundays are my supposed rest days but I have my weekly softball game and usually get a walk in plus house work and whatever else. Anytime I just sit around on the couch for an entire day I find myself worse off, more sore, more stiff. Active rest works better for me.
  • Well I would say if Insanity is a little beyond where you wanted to start then so is P90X. Both are marketed as advanced programs by Beachbody. You should look more into the intermediate range programs like T25 or P90X3. Both have on screen modifiers at all times. T25 is where I started 2 years ago and I am glad I did.…
