I'm sorry, I really don't want to come off as brainy or smart a** but I think that isn't necessarily true for all. I know a woman who chose to eat mostly cheese and meats like ground beef that wasn't low on fat while on a low carb diet. This is extreme, as I don't expect many would do that, but as you could guess, it made…

That's what I was thinking!

With a knife! And then put it on a plate and eat up! :) Okay, jokes aside, there's really no reason to cut fat and sugar unless a doctor has told you to. As long as you are eating in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. If you're going off of MFP's sugar recommendation, it is notoriously low. Besides, fruit has some…

I have fought the battle, and please believe me when I say that she needs treatment, as you've stated. Do everything you can to find specialists. Maybe check into treatment facilities like Renfrew and places like it. They may offer inpatient and outpatient. Let your daughter know that you are supportive of her and love her…

I am 4'9 and not really looking to lose much. I basically maintain well between 95-96 lbs, but I'd like to lose another 2 or 3 pounds. People keep telling me that those last pounds won't make a difference but I think they will. Even if not, I like the idea of having a little wiggle room and maintaining from 92-95 lbs. I…

I enjoy all things in moderation, so it's a no for me but good luck in your pursuit OP :)

I've had dreams like that. Notably, I dreamed i was jogging in a nice neighborhood and there was a child sitting on a lawn eating those peanut butter filled pretzels nuggets from the container and I ran by and took them! I ran away as the kid cried! I felt guilty about that dream, and besides, I don't even like those that…

Everyone else pretty much covered it, and neither is really better than the other. I guess at that point it really comes down to preference, as one has molasses and one does not. Calorie-wise they are about the same too

Also this^ because same, and I didn't mention it in my reply

I think many people have reason to seek professional help for an unhealthy relationship with food. Overweight, underweight, healthy weight, it doesn't matter. If you have food problems, you can get help, body size is no indicator.

I'm just gonna throw this in here, I eat out multiple times a week. Sometimes really nice sit down places, sometimes chains, sometimes small burger joints and such, but mostly Wawa (lol). I have my go tos for each one, the foods that I -generally- know the nutritional and macro nutrient content of (I think there's really…

It sounds a bit unhealthy, as you have mentioned :( I would seek medical help. I once went through something similar, and I became a lot happier when I began thinking of foods as neutral. There does not have to be "good" or "bad" or "healthy" or "unhealthy" foods. Perhaps look into the concept of IIFYM? I wish you luck.…

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head :) +1 for South Park, too

I'm a little tardy to the party, so I'll just reiterate: Sugar is not addictive, though it's a controversial topic because they -may- have found slightly addictive qualities to sugar and reactions when sugar is consumed. Whatever, yadda yadda. In the mean time, I eat sugar everyday. OP, if you really want to have sugar,…

It's about a 20 minute drive, I think

Could be, but I wouldnt say always.

When I was a vegetarian Greek yogurt was one of my go to foods, beans as well if your stomach can handle them. Protein powders too
-
Yeah, my mom always told me not to eat food off the floor, too.

And I understand that. I still think that it is relevant, though. Additionally, look at meat as a staple. Fwiw, some meat products are more readily available and more practical to some families than foods that are solely plant based. I'll add that I know many families (including my own) that needed help from the state in…

Think about all of the different cultures that use meat as a staple food. You can even consider cultures and subcultures that are mostly plant based, but also consume meat at times. Meat resources are useful. Nutrition aside, certain meats are part of various cultures. I'd honestly hate to see traditions fail because…

Honesty is the best policy, as they say. I think it's better to honestly log foods that you've overeaten and be honest with yourself than to not log them and pretend it didn't happen. Sounds like you know what you're doing, and I wish you luck on your journey :)

That's a very unique concept! Personally, I like to group foods by meal, and I pay little attention to what's processed and what's not because I usually have a pretty good balance of each, but perhaps your way could be beneficial to others. I also noticed the emotionally eaten foods section, which I think could be a good…

I've never been a super fast eater, but I know when I get too hungry I tend to eat faster. Also, I think it would help if you had really enjoyable and delicious food, because maybe you'll be more tempted to savor it? It's a thought. Good luck!

I understand what you are saying, but both chips and bananas have different things to offer. I'm not arguing the idea that the banana is the more natural of the two, and bananas definitely have less ingredients, but a banana can't help you reach your fat goal, for example. In the grand scheme of things, you're right, a…

My dad was getting really weird hand cramps this summer during work (he works under very hot conditions where he gets really sweaty because it's physical. He would have to drink 64+ ounces of water each day). His hands/fingers would seize up and he couldn't move them unaided. We thought it may have been an electrolyte…

This is breaking my heart..... :(

Fair enough. What you described with the offering of food sounds like what I had in mind, but maybe you interpreted what I said differently than I meant it. To each his own.

My thoughts were similar to yours, mamapeach. I wanted to ask moiaussi if it was more the desire or lack of, I guess. What I mean, moiaussi, is if someone offered you a cookie, would you accept it, because its something you eat on occasion and people don't always offer cookies, or would you decline because those treats are…

I'm glad to hear that you will re-evaluate and possibly adjust you philosopy. Open mindedness is a cool thing :) Good luck!
