  • Thanks for the awesome thread. I've shed a few tears over some of the quotes. :flowerforyou:
  • Good to see I'm not the only one! I do LOVE the fact I'm losing weight, and my husband is thrilled too, but there ARE some downsides, that I guess I didn't even think about. I have been buying clothes at the Salvation Army etc, but I'm still considered big and most of the clothes at the Sally Army are for smaller…
  • I would say no more than two a day. I love eggs too - luckily we have free range chickens, so I can have fresh, organic eggs all year round
  • Stair climbing is awesome! I do that when I'm going to have a high calorie meal or I have had one earlier in the day.
  • I second running stairs! Or step ups.
  • Edit: Double post
  • I'm on a tight budget too! BUT walking is free - so is jogging or running stairs. My biggest change has been my portion sizes - I'm eating way less, and its actually saving us money. I have added more fresh fruit and veges into my diet, but the in season produce is cheaper than lots of snack food and it fill you up more.…
  • I'm usually under too, but I aim to be 50-100 calories under, just as a buffer. Sometimes I may have logged a tablespoon of peanut butter, that was actually closer to 1.5 tbsps. Or my medium apple, might be a bit bigger. I leave a buffer as I'm trying to get away from weighing everything and using sight as my guide - I do…
  • The whole point of this is to make a lifestyle change, I believe that having one cookie a day will not make me fat, and it also means I don't start binge eating them when I do come across them. One cookie did not make me fat, but the 5-6 a day I used to eat did.
  • I have miutes a week goals, I try to 350 minutes a week. Some days I might do 90 minutes, others (like today) might only be 30 mintues, but it all works out. Also I try to set at least 3 days that I do something (for me) high impact like stair running, jogging or sprints.
  • :drinker: It was my birthday about 6 weeks after I started, and I had a total cheat day - drunk lots of alcohol and ate alot. Its the only spike in my net calories report! It was good for ME to have one last blow out birthday, because I really believe that for the rest of my years, I will never have another birthday like…
  • You've already taken steps to be healthier, by joining MFP. So just like cutting back on your calorie intake, could you cut back 1 cigarette a day? Then set dates to drop one more, then one more etc, etc. Then if you do it, you'll be healthy in lots more ways than just weight :)
  • My husband is fantastic! I've made no secret of wanting to do this and he has supported me in every way - his only concern is that I will get too skinny, as he doesn't like super skinny body shapes. He keeps complimenting me, and says that he needs my motivation (he talks about the exercise he is going to do, but will only…
  • One reason to be grateful for being broke! I'm the same, I have a fanatstic few days/weeks, and then something happens and I lose track of the end goal. You've done a wonderful job so far and you should be immensely proud of your continuing success. The difference this time is one small fall off the wagon has not made you…
  • :flowerforyou:  You have a face now! And you look gorgeous! Well done and keep up the good work - can't wait to see the all done photos
  • I agree! My pet hate is the "just 3 minutes a day" claim. Right 3 minutes on your machine is the same as my 60 minute walk!
  • Vegetarian or Margarita would be your best best, and a salad if you can swing it!
  • I have so many! Butter (tons of it on toast, bread etc) Sweet things like cake, slices, biscuits Party food - a demon I'm still fighting The fat on roast beef and pork. Portion sizes were also a baddy. Thank goodness I've found MFP!
  • I onlyweigh once a fortnight. I don't have scales, but have borrowed some for a few days, and I can see how weighing in all the time can be really depressing! Give it a break and come back happier and healthier
  • Awesome! Thats a real acheivement - and I'm sure your son appreciates having a happy Mum in his photos

  • At the beginning of the week I celebrated losing my daughter! Well, the weight of my 2 year old (28lbs), its awesome but a wee bit scary too!
  • :flowerforyou: Oh yuck, you must have felt awful! I'm not yet at that stage, but I was once at the size where I could only order clothes by mail as the plus size shops didn't go to my size :noway: Losing even 10 lbs and fitting into the normal sized clothes will make you feel awesome! Think of the fantastic buzz you will…
  • Awesome tips everyone - thanks! I just went out for a walk and ran stairs - even though I wanted to vomit because I ate so much I kept pushing, overwise I really would have blown my day. I was a kids party and there was heaps of junk. Now I've got plenty of ideas and tips for next time - and if I remember the wanting to…
  • Good ideas about bringing my own food. A cottage cheese dip and vege sticks would still satisfy the crunch and creamy craving, but without the calories. Ooh or a fruit platter! I know today I hadn't had any water before we left, so thats probably more the reason why I went crazy. I did avoid the coke though and had water.
  • well done! What an achievement!
  • I wear Asics gel soles too, and they are the best shoes I've owned - especially at my weight!
  • 1. Greek yogurt is a blend of cream and milk, so it has a much higher percentage of milk fat (butterfat)—any where from 4% to 10%, compared to regular whole milk yogurts that generally don’t exceed 3.5% milk fat. 2. Greek yogurt is also strained. Straining removes more water from the yogurt, making it more dense, firm and…
  • Yes! It sounds so weird and to be honest I didn't believe it at first - then I read the boards and almost every post said eat them back. I experimented for my own body and it worked. I add in extra fruit or if I work hard I can have bread instead of rice crackers for lunch. Sometimes I have a glass of wine with dinner.…

  • I don't weigh every day - it does my head in. Also are you exercising? Are you eating back those calories? I experimented both ways and if I don't eat my calories back I have a bad week.
