What? How is it a ton of rapidly digestible carbs? It's made up of polysaccharides, therefore it takes longer to digest than any most other carbs. That fact alone shows why some brands of whole wheat bread and white bread have low GIs AND GLs. Also, this is not bread but it makes a point of brown vs white and how brown is…

And that's the inherent issue by labelling foods healthy and unhealthy. Foods aren't unhealthy and healthy. Only diets.

Original Poster: Don't buy into that nonsensical bull crack. Eat what you enjoy and eat it within moderation. There are a few studies out there that examined the consumption of white rice vs brown rice and neither were better than each other. This is probably because of the antinutrients present in brown rice (and whole…

Alan Aragon just posted this over on BB.com. This should put this a lot to rest: "Your statement ignores scenarios where a protein-rich preworkout meal is consumed, which in many cases would nullify the need (& thus optimality) of another protein dose within an hour of training. For example, 45 g whey by itself takes 40…

Good discussion. As a side note, there is merit to the pre- and post-workout nutrition thing but the problem is the "timing" that is advocated. The level of immediacy and timing people think is needed is a little nuts. I know Alan and Lyle have both advocated for consuming nutrients around workout.

Yes, I definitely eat chocolate all the time. Restrictive dieting is almost always present with binge eaters. I'm not a fan of correlational stuff but it's almost hard to ignore.

Question becomes this: who cares if there's more ash, fat, lactose, etc.? You seemed to imply that isolates are somehow better. Then it's not better, which makes your point moot and not worth mentioning. Isolates aren't better. What you're missing is the processing, which is far more important to the integrity of the whey…

I don't understand this. Why would he need to be on the show to know how awful the nutrition info is? They even bring these nutritionists in the show and they have no clue what they're talking about.

That means a lot coming from someone who hides their profile and whose physique is no better than mine. Either prove your point or scurry off. If you want to insult my physique then you have the freedom to but I'd at least expect you to have a much better one than mine, which you don't.

I don't eat ice cream at night but I have to attest to this and say I know quite a few people who do. I have no idea how they fit it but sometimes they fit an entire pint of B&Js.

I disagree. My body deserves Popeye's and the food does nothing to this body. I'm not a fan of fast food solely because I prefer good food but I love that ridiculous fat-laden fine dining food. Good lord that stuff is awesome.

I have to ask this: do you really want to live the rest of you life like this? Meaning, do you want to live your life worrying when you go out about ruining everything you've worked for? Is that even a life worth living? Those are rhetorical questions because the answer is obvious: no. No you don't want to live like so why…

A few things: (1) Burden of Proof - It's on you. If you don't know why then google it and learn about it. (2) "Sugar is bad" - If we are to accept this statement then that means the consumption of it, regardless of dosage or context, should produce negative health effects within an individual. Is 10g of sugar a day bad? Is…

There isn't really "good" or "bad" foods. I personally prefer my grains to be white but sometimes eat ezekiel or some type of grain bread if I need more micronutrients, fibre, or want it for a specific taste (i.e. honey oat bread for a BLT).

I end up getting purple, I rip my shirt and ........ I run into a corner and get all emo.

It's much, much cheaper. Don't hold your breath on the flavour, though. It doesn't taste awesome but it's decent enough that it doesn't really make anything else worth it considering the incredible price point. Canadianprotein.com does make something that tastes much, much better (you can order samples) and their 5lber is…

It's not too bad. I wouldn't get the vanilla. Buy a tub of chocolate and see. It's quite cheap in comparison to the other wheys out in Canada. It's much better with milk (what whey isn't?) but it's not too shabby with water. There are other wheys I prefer if you're doing it for taste. Check out www.canadianprotein.com.…

Rah. You're an excellent judge of quality posts. Your other posts are clear indications of this. Anyways, you're suggesting that isolates are somehow better when cutting. Please provide evidence of why this is so. And I couldn't care less if they're hilarious. They spread nonsensical bull**** and fill people's head with…

lol you're such a bro. Are you on that Twin Muscle Workout time? Please go.

You're in luck. Head out to Costco and buy Lean Fit Whey, which is the cheapest whey you can buy in Canada. Mine has 25g of protein, 2g of fat, and 2g of carbs and it costs $19.99 for 2kg (4.4lbs). Great thing about this whey is that it's produced in a GMP certified facility and it is a mixture of ultrafiltered and…
-
That isn't a pure whey isolate, which is why it's cheaper. It's a blend of concentrates and isolate and this is quite common amongst most protein blends. Go on ...
-
Compared to whey concentrates? Of course they're more expensive. I get 46g of protein per dollar for my whey concentrate. Have never seen a single isolate even come close to that level of affordability. Please go, ignoramus.
-
Lose the label. The name "cheat day" irritates me because I know what people on here mean by cheat day and it means foods that have a bad reputation are incorporated that day but restricted every other day.
-
Whey isolates are too expensive and aren't really worth it unless you have lactose issues. Next time you buy whey just check the label. Don't buy anything that is GNC branded. They suck. Some I recommend if you are trying to save some dollars: Gaspari Myfosuion Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard MusclePharm Combat Powder

All you've done is created a negative association with specific foods and thus a physical response is created from a psychological place to fulfill your idea that somehow fast food is bad, which it isn't. This process is called taste aversion and it originally existed as an evolutionary mechanism but people are now getting…

If you have trouble getting in fibre then they're worth incorporating but fish and fish oil are better sources of omega-3s since they come in EPA and DHA already. They aren't particularly tasty (I think) and it's just another food trend. I wouldn't go out of your way to try and incorporate it or incorporate it just because…

Things I thought I'd never like but love: - Fried Milk - Peanut butter, bacon, and tempura bananas on a burger - Chocolate mayo - Offal - Fried Cheesecake - Battered french fries (this one blew my mind)
-
What I found that helped is to set aside a portion of my calories and macronutrients for the day for something I enjoy, which is usually some form of chocolate. It has made it easier for me to keep it under control because then I know I can eat it everyday. If my cravings are particularly bad then I'll set aside a huge…
-
I wouldn't worry in the scope of a single day. It's going to make little difference both in terms of health and weight. If you go crazy, though, you'll set yourself back a bunch of calorie but that's it. You aren't going to be unhealthy from eating anything you want there.
