  • I'm having the same problem purplybob. I don't think the MFP app allows you to access the forums. Not sure why.
  • I let the scale determine what kind of day I'm going to have. So not cool. I used to run to food regardless of the result. What madness. I actually got rid of my scale for a couple years but with that came no accountability. I'm learning to have a healthy relationship not just with food but with my scale as well. I'm…
  • It definitely brings things into perspective. Needs vs. Wants. I used to think my wants were actually needs. It's amazing what a little wisdom will do. Thank you for sharing this!
  • I was thinking the exact same thing after reading the first two lines and was wondering how I was going to reply then I saw your last line :) I totally agree!
  • "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.” I like that sentence. Nothing can bring me peace but myself. Not food, not money, not a bigger house, or a cleaner house, etc. I have tried to find peace in my surroundings and from my stuff. I was looking outside to find it when I need to look inside.
  • I'm definitely nicer to others than I am to myself. I'm not sure why I don't think I deserve the same basic treatment I give to others. Although I know that I can be nice/more courteous to people in all situations regardless of how they are acting. It's hard for me to stay nice when the other person isn't.
  • You are not alone! My commitment for certain things also seems to decrease a bit when it's not convenient. Realizing that makes it easier to be aware of what I'm doing and why, and to prevent me from having issues. Enjoy the nice weather! I'm on the east coast and it's still winter here :)
  • This is so fitting as I decide what to give up for lent. I looked to God for direction and loud and clear He answered with a specific food group. My reaction was, No way! That'll be too hard. And immediately I knew it was the right thing because I too often run to the specific food group for comfort and strength when I…
  • It seems the harder I work towards being healthy and eating soberly, the more stress seems to find me. Maybe it's because I'm not coping with life with food anymore and everything just seems harder but really hasn't changed? My emotions are definitely more raw and out of control since I'm not eating them anymore. I didn't…
  • I don't trust my feeling of hunger, at least not at this point. I use the drinking water trick or doing an activity to distract me (this helps weed out the I'm bored hunger).
  • I am amazed how awesome the human body is. I'm sure I knew it before but to really experience has been so neat! To get started I bought a Zumba DVD and on the first day I couldn't even finish the warm up section. Now I can make it through the whole 45 minutes. Pretty neat!

  • I try to sneak in my exercise. Park farther away at work, stores, etc. Take the stairs instead of elevators, escalators, and ramps. I like to dance too so Zumba or dance aerobics has been fun. The best advice I ever got for exercising is to find something you enjoy doing and do it more often.
  • Very inspirational! Thank you so much for sharing.
  • That's my story too. Married last June. :)
  • Are you eating back any of your calories burned? If I don't eat enough (less than 1200), my body holds on to the weight. You should be getting at least 1200 net calories a day (i.e. eat 1300, burn 100 = 1200 net). Also, make sure you log everyting you eat. Maybe you are consuming more calories than you think?
  • Count me in! Age: 32 Weight: 245 lbs Goal: 200 by late summer, 150 long term Goal for this week: 1-2 pounds I have the same questions as lynnymcc, how will this work?
  • Hi, my name's Jessica and I ama food addict. You nailed it! I couldn't have said it any better.
  • You CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens you!!!
  • You can add me as well. I have 75+lbs to lose. I think adding the social piece will help. I have tried doing it solo and it didn't stick.
  • I've had a similiar experience before and trying to get plugged in better. The more accountability and motivation, the better the chances for success!
  • I have 75-100 pounds to lose. Not sure what a good goal weight for me (and my body) is since I've been overweight my whole life. It's scary to think I should weigh 135 pounds when the last time I weighed that was in 5th or 6th grade and I've been 220-270 on my adult body. So my ultimate goal will be 175, then 150, then go…
