  • 30DS started me out on mt journey too. I have since moved on to all her other workouts and am currently working on Ripped in 30. Recommend all her workouts to everyone!
  • You have to make these decisions for yourself. You have to remember why you want to be healthy. You need to find your inner strength. When I started my journey I stayed far away from temptation until I could get a handle on what was the most important to me. I've just recently been able to hit up restaurants and I have…
  • Use a straw! It goes down faster.
  • When I don't feel like drinking water... I use a straw and the water goes down faster. I figure it's better to suck down a bottle of water in 2 minutes than not drink any at all. Since eliminating soda from my life, I find that drinking water is easier for me. I even crave it sometimes. I use to hate the taste of water…
  • The only time that I know of that drinking too much water can have negative effects is if you're a nursing mother. Also, I would assume if you fill up on water and don't get enough nutrition you will suffer for that. If you are balancing a good diet, than drink away!
  • Awesome for you!!! I quit smoking in Sept of 2009 and it's been an interesting journey so far. I also gave up the soda but not completely. I sometimes will have one with dinner but with all the water I drink now, I never finish a can. I'm finding that when I have to pick up a wasted can of soda and toss it, I feel even…
  • Add me and take a peek into my food diary... might help.
  • 6wk6pk...feels more like a full body workout! I'm certain you will love it. It's 35 minutes of good burn.
  • Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack is one of my favorites. Hope that helps.
  • I take 2000 IUs of Vitamin D every night with a meal or snack. I no longer wake up with the knee pain that I was experiencing. I do, however, still get sore while working out in the knees but I also injured my MCL and suffered from septic arthritis in all my joints for a month because of a staph infection in my blood. I'm…
  • umm... Jillian calls those 'squirms' and her oblique twist is done in plank position bringing the knee in and twisting it to the opposite side. There is probably several different names for every exercise out there.
  • I started off avoiding eating back those calories and was at a point where the scale stopped moving for me but after reading about eating those calories back I thought I would give it a try for one week. I didn't eat them all back...only half of them and guess what? My scale moved almost 4 lbs in a week! I also made sure…
  • Don't deprive yourself! Every girl needs a chocolate fix once in awhile. I keep candy bars in my freezer and if I want a candy bar than I do an extra workout on top of my normal workouts and therefore, I have earned it! The chocolate tastes so much better if you have to work hard to get it. But that's just me...you do what…

  • When I did The Shred... I did the workout and followed it up with 30 minutes on the treadmill jogging or 60 minutes on the bike. I highly recommend jumping right into cardio after you do your shred while your body is warmed up and you can quickly hit the sweet spot as far as HR goes.
  • I have a Proform treadmill and bike and love them both. G'luck on your search. There is so many to choose from and Walmart has a great affordable collection that you may want to look into.
  • I am also in that same boat and have wonderful success with eating between 1500-2000 calories a day. I make sure I have low days and high days. I burn around 1000 calories at least 3 times a week. I workout for a minimum of 6 days. In 3 months I have lost 30 lbs. Good luck to you!!! Water Water Water! will help with the…
  • Scales are highly inaccurate. When I was obsessed over my weight on the scale I would notice my own weight fluctuate anywhere from 2-10 lbs in a day!!! IN A DAY!!! I now know my body good enough to know when NOT to step on that scale. Don't be discouraged. It's all about those body measurements at the end of the day and…
  • I HAD friends like that.... key word being HAD!
  • At least 5-6 times a week. Love that workout!
  • Hmmm, my husband hates pickles and loves Dew.... and (I'm sure he'll love that I am sharing this BUT...) he has 'picky sperm' meaning he has to be pretty careful about what he puts in his body if we decide to have more babies (took us almost 3 years to get our youngest). Dew is one of those things on his DO NOT list but I…
  • I use DVD's religiously... I add my own exercises to the diary and name them after the DVD I did and the actual calories I burned doing it. Helps me keep track of what DVD I did on what day.
  • I tried to eat back half of my calories burned this past week.... and when it came time for weigh in this morning... I WAS DOWN ALMOST 4 LBS!!! So, nope you ain't cheating! You are just giving your body fuel to keep burning :-)
  • When I started exercising in December to lose weight, I was losing pretty rapidly and not really counting calories or changing my diet. I cut out sodas and drank more water and that was about it. Once I started counting calories, portion controlling, and making healthier food choices.... I stopped seeing the scale move.…
  • I'm glad I decided to ask...now I need to look into seeing if there is some sort of recalibration on my bike. Thanks for all the input!
  • I am trying to figure out if my bike is off because when I ride yes, it says anywhere from 38mph-45mph and yes, I feel like I am peddling pretty dang fast. It generally results in a full body sweat for me. When I use resistance than I average between 20-30 mph. Most the time I am working more towards endurance not strength…
  • That is fantastic!!! Keep it up. I have asthma and on a whim decided I was going to jog longer than the usually 5 minutes intervals I usually do and I went for a full 30 minutes! I couldn't believe it. And since discovering that I actually could go that long I have tried to do it at least 2-3 times a week in hopes that…
  • Everyone has given you great advice! But, I do want to point out that avoiding foods because they are 'gassy, spicy, greasy, sweet, sour' is never a good idea completely. I have 2 daughters. The oldest I breastfed til she was 16 months old and my youngest is still nursing at 13 months old. IF you avoid a certain kind of…
  • I own every Jillian Michaels DVD. I never get bored of one workout and sometimes I do one in the morning and one at night....otherwise I do 60-90 minutes of cardio in the morning either on my treadmill or bike and in the evenings I do a DVD. I have NEVER worked out in a gym nor do I desire to work out in the gym. I can get…
  • I am a AF (retired)daughter and AF(discharged)sister and Navy(active TO reserve) wife and Navy(active AND reserve)sister.... lol. Anyone can feel free to add me as a friend! The more friends, the more support. I've currently found myself making better fitness choices and hitting bigger fitness goals than my Sailor...and…
