  • Mine has held up pretty well for the first few months. I like that it has an actual clasp on it.
  • Almost this exact situation is what caused me to start losing weight. I was able to fit on all the rides, but just barely. From experience I know how embarrassing that was, so I'm sure this is worse. I'm guessing he'll use this as motivation as well, so just be there to encourage him.
  • I have it setup on mine, usually throughout the morning I have the calories added to my food, rather than subtracted. Just means my body hasn't burned enough to catch up with my breakfast yet.
  • I actually thought about yoga as well, for this and other reasons. I've noticed that even though I'm losing weight, not getting a lot of flexibility. Any good recommendations as to a beginner yoga?
  • The alarms thing is a good idea. I have a fitbit, so I set silent alarms to go off every hour to remind me to sit up straight.
  • Thanks, I'll look into those devices. I have my annual physical coming up, so been planning to talk to my doctor about it.
  • Also, I keep seeing ad's pop up for this device, and wondering if anyone has any experience with it Lumo Back http://www.lumobodytech.com/what-is-lumoback/
  • So one question to everyone suggesting positive reinforcement. I've read a couple places that this can be dangerous too, as kids will start expecting to be rewarded for everything, which certainly isn't the way life works. Any one ever run into that issue?
  • Sorry about the lack of details, things have been a bit crazy. I held off until late the day before Christmas eve, just to make her squirm a little bit. As we where going to bed, I asked her why she hadn't asked about it that day, then slid the ring onto her finger and said she wouldn't have to ask anymore. We where laying…
  • Just an update. I did ask and she said yes. Let the fun begin, lol
  • I have the force and have really liked it so far. I've seen a lot of posts claiming how inaccurate it is, and have been meaning to test it against a regular pedometer to see for myself. I think the biggest thing I like about it is just the fact I can see what I'm doing and push myself to meet and beat my goals (and the…
  • Loving these ideas, I had also considered getting her son involved as well.
  • Not sure I'd be able to pull that off, but I agree, awesome
  • I've thought about the waiting till after Christmas, but considering we picked out the ring 3 months ago, I may have made her wait long enough already. And besides, I didn't think it would be a good idea to start things off by intentionally trying to irritate her, lol. I do like the idea of waiting till Christmas eve. I…
  • Thanks for all the ideas. She definitely knows its coming, but not when. I'm in a bit of a time crunch, as she's hinted she'd really like to have something to show off on the holidays.
  • Well... she's been waiting for a while, so afraid if she grabs too hard it might not go well for me.
  • I love it, not sure she would, but I think that's fantastic
  • Definitely a discussion I'm interested in as well. My girlfriend and her son live with me now, and he's on the heavy side for his age (7 years old). He is very tall, but still overweight for his height. We don't really focus on his weight, but try to focus on eating healthy and making healthy choices (limiting sweets and…
  • Thanks for all the feedback. MFP seems to automatically adjust my calorie goal down when I check in at a lower weight. Should I keep it set at the higher goal as long as I'm continuing to lose weight at that calorie level?
  • Thanks, I didn't really think I was undereating and I don't really deprive myself (just trying to eat less, althought I miss donuts). Just looked at a report of net calories for the last 7 days and was worried I was eating too little. I lost about 25lbs in one month, then slowed down pretty dramatically the last 2-3 weeks…
  • I have a horizon t101 treadmill i purchased a few months ago. So far everything is working very well. It's sturdy and pretty quite (quieter than the used lifespan i had before). It was a little over your budget for a new one at $630, but i had a bad experience with a used one that broke in a couple months, so i wanted a…
  • Recently got the fitbit force. Would love to have some friends. http://www.fitbit.com/user/28G9FR Would love to have more friends here as well, so feel free to add me.
  • Weight loss is my primary goal right now, so I guess my question is which will create a bigger calorie burn. I like the idea of alternating days between speed and incline. I'd definitely like to get faster as well. Still walking pretty slow right now.
  • I just got the fitbit force. I originally purchased the jawbone up, but returned it after about a week. I didn't like that I had to manually sync it and it wasn't very comfortable to wear. So far, I really like the force. The only downfall I've seen so far is the clasping mechanism isn't the best. It's a little hard to…
  • Yes, she knows we're going to do something, just not what. I'm trying to think of something creative and different to do. I'll see if I can feel her out on this a little more before buying tickets.
  • I guess my creepy title scared everyone away
  • Have been looking into a dinner theater too, maybe a murder mystery, any recommendations on those?
  • Thanks for the input. I've been looking into Chicago and there seems to be a lot to do there. I've been looking at doing a murder mystery show, as I've never done one and it sounds fun. I'll have to look into Galena. Thanks for the tip.
