Thank you so much for your inspiring story. I too have health issues that make exercising at all difficult most days. I reached my goal a few years ago without exercise and now, after some weight crept back, am getting close to goal again. I just do not have the energy to carry that extra weight around. I wish you well and…

So tasty. And dairy free.

I made this discovery 40 years ago. Dairy also triggered migraines for me. After about 20 years of no dairy, I can now have small amounts if I take lactase pills but still need to do it very seldom. Interestingly, I can eat goat cheese with no problems. 🤷♀️ I’m glad you found the problem and now feel better. There are now…

Although I have put some of my weight back on, (it will leave again) 4 years ago I got myself to goal. Due to health issues, I can do very little exercise and am about 50% bedbound. I have learned to do some exercises even in bed for just a few minutes at a time. But I lost the weight by concentrating on what I was eating…

Sent you an invite and a private message.

Here is my take on that. I do not even think about how to do anything forever. Life has thrown too many curve balls at us so I know I cannot foresee the future. Ergo today I will concern myself with today, tomorrow I will concern myself with that new today, the day after.... Eventually my weight will come off. Not as fast…

5 years ago I lost 34 pounds without exercise because,of health issues so it is possible. I did it on 1200 calories. This time I am raising my calorie limit a bit for now, it is totally doable. The hardest part is the message that weight loss must include exercise. That is easy for others to say if they have no…

Hi. I am recently back also. Are you sure you opted out of the scanner or did not allow the app to use you camera? If so you can change that by going into you device settings not in MFP. What app are you using?
-
Hi sent you a friend invite. I’m 68 and trying again after successfully using MFP a few years ago.
-
I sent you a friend invite. I am a "back again" and know what a difference a group of MFP friends makes to success.

Yes...definitely! But with one caveat....deep tissue massage will create more pain with FM but light massage seems to help a lot. A few years ago I was able to get massage every 2 weeks under my insurance and that was so helpful. Frequently, I will feel somewhat worse the next day but the day after I feel much better.

@4rferris I'm really impressed with the amount of walking you are doing. I was not able to walk before I lost weight and even now cannot walk that far without causing problems. It is difficult when we can no longer do as much exercise as we are used to doing but it happens to many of us and it takes a new mindset to be…

A lot of us found that the mind takes longer to catch up with our new image. Set different goals for now and maybe set a time limit to review your weight loss. I have set myself 1 year from attaining goal weight to see if I really want to lose any more. Do you have before and now pictures? We can see the lose there better…

My goals while losing weight were always something tangible that I would look at often. A new tea pot, new kitchen scales, jewellery. My idea being that every time I would look at something, it would remind me of what I accomplished. In maintenance I still reward myself for every month I stay in my goal range. Sometimes…

Hi @watermillion I lost about the same amount as you in about the same amount of time and have now been on maintenance almost 8 months and those love handles are about 1/2 the size now. They would probably have decreased more if I could exercise more but alas.... Do not give up yet. Your body still has some adjusting to do…

I think that when it comes to getting to the motivation you belong to a very large group of people. I spent a whole year dealing with all my excuses before I started with MFP. Reading, writing in my diary, looking at success stories. My biggest hurdle was that, due to health reasons, I am unable to do much exercise. One…

I've had FM (plus ME/CFS) for about the same length of time as you and thank you for pointing out 2 things I too deal with. Yes, age seems to be making some exercises more difficult and many times I have no idea why I have flare ups. This week's I do know exactly what I did though. I have not found any decrease in…

Hi Michelle. I understand your challenges and commend you on increasing your number of walks. But...you cannot out walk a bad diet. For weight loss, concentrate on what you eat. For better health, do what exercise you are able to do. Eat fewer calories than you use. When I started MFP, I could not walk any distance at all…

Are you able to do sitting exercises?
-
Well done. You are obviously someone who does not give up easily! Congratulations both on your MFP anniversary and your HM.
-
For the first few months of maintenance, MFP calories were right on. Then I got ill and lost a couple of pounds so have just gone up 100 calories to get back up to goal range. I expect I will then decrease again. I agree...it is different for everyone....and trial and error is important as you go into maintenance.
-
First, congratulations on doing something to help your condition. I really hope this works for you and your life becomes more pleasant. I have been on several SSRI's and for me they have meant weight gain. This is not always the case though, others have lost weight. I realized when I changed meds this time that the reason…

OP. That knee going sucks. When I started MFP I was not able to do any exercise at all but decided I still needed to loss the weight any way I could .... Watching what I ate. As I neared my goal I was starting to do walking and upper body workouts. Then 3 weeks into maintenance I fractured my foot. Crap! I was sooo…

Yes I do have a tip. Do not fret about it. It is not a dash but a long slow process. There will be ups, downs, and plateaus along the way. One week does not even qualify as a plateau. Just keep to the process. Look back a month from now and see the difference.
-
For the whole 9 months of weight loss, my graph looked more like a mountain range than a ski slope. These ups and downs are normal. If you are still up in a month then it is time to review your strategies. One week is only a tiny fraction of your journey. Stressing about it will just make it worse.

I think it's great that you have the courage to post your before picture. I never took one and wish I had one now to remind me how far I have come.
-
Congratulations on your achievement. I agree about weighing at the same time of day. I use a goal range as we all have weight fluctuations. Mine is 3 pounds and seems to work for me.
-
I totally agree with this. If you have a reduction, you still want the proportions to be right and that is hard to judge when still over weight. You will also be a lot healthier for surgery at that time. Personally, this was the downside of weight lose for me as I have gone down a band size and a cup size. Sniff, sniff.
