Unfortunate we couldn't just swap places. I think I'd quite like Scotland. Think of the masters degree in the US as just an easy route into the US. Then worry about how to stay here once you're here. It's much easier to get a student visa than a work visa. Although depending on your field it may be expensive. The research…

My friend had an internship here and loved it: https://jobs.ea.com/

Basically to get a work visa your future boss has to prove that he/she cannot find a qualified U.S. citizen to fill the position. Therefore it helps to have a very specific or in demand degree and it particularly helps to have an advanced degree (beyond a BS/BA). I don't know anything about your field in particular but if…

MFP ALREADY sets you at a calorie deficit. As in whether or not you work out that day MFP will tell you to eat less than the number of calories you need to maintain your weight. Therefore you should eat back your exercise calories on MFP to avoid having too big a deficit and causing other problems. That's why the advice on…

at 5'7 and bouncing around between 165-170 I seem to be pretty consistently a size 8.
-
That's exactly how I lost my first 25lbs.

Put the phrase "essential amino acids" into wikipedia. Or I can just save you the trouble: no.

I just had a whole bunch hacked off! Not bad at all pain-wise. Half of them were on my face so I was preparing for the worst AND I have a high pain tolerance so not sure how applicable my opinion will be to your situation. BUT the only part that hurt was the numbing shots. Pretty much just the first shot on each mole hurt…

Horrible tasting gels pretending to be food! They are actually really great for long runs but MAN do they taste nasty. I prefer the gunny GU or clif shot blocks. For the OP- I don't eat much beforehand, if I do I make sure I have bathroom access... For this reason I usually do long runs within 2 hours of waking up. Carbs…

SO MANY runners are really only competitive with themselves. They're trying to beat their best time, not trying to beat you. See if you can adopt that attitude. If you can't, at least remember that's probably where most everybody else is at in their heads. Also, avoid going too fast too early because you're worried about…

Don't worry about not finishing the dvds! Just do 10 or 15 minutes or however long it takes to feel like you've pushed yourself. Just make sure you don't skip the stretching/cool down part if you turn it off early. Swimming or walking are also not bad places to start as far as lower impact. Just remember that none of this…

I also had a guy try to pick me up in a bar one time by telling me about all the feral cats he'd been shooting. Ugh. Just creepy and weird and sad.
-
He didn't have a car but refused to let me pick him up, instead had his MOM drop him off. Leaned in during the movie to say "don't freak out, I'm going to put my arm around you". Sat there like a lump through drinks afterwards while I carried the entire conversation. His idea of a kiss? standing there with his mouth…

1) I got to pour hot water on dry ice TWICE today (even after many years of repetition this makes me ridiculously happy) 2) I went aqua jogging with my bosses girlfriend and it was really fun, yay new friends! 3) I got a text from a guy I like who rarely texts. Twas a lovely day.

apparently!

*raises hand* I've had a lot of fun with it! Nothing serious has come of it but I've met at least one person I wouldn't mind moving in that direction with.
-
Training for my first but haven't registered yet. The one I'm shooting for has a time limit so I'm going to do late registration to make sure I get through some of the longest runs well under time. Add me if you like! Always nice to have runner friends.

Text him. Those rules are an ok benchmark for people who REALLY don't know what they're doing but the dynamics of any random two individuals isn't going to fit neatly into a little box with rules stamped on it. I went out with a guy, didn't hear from him for a week and had totally written him off by that point cuz it had…

"a bit of a difference"??? You crazy. That is a HUGE difference! Especially for only 17 lbs!
-
Yup! Thats me almost every run. Also why I almost never do my short runs unless I'm really strapped for time or too tired to do more. That said, duathalons do exist, why not find one without the running?
-
Running is the only "natural" sleep aid I've found that works. Swimming knocked me OUT the other day though. Maybe just because its a new addition to the routine. Otherwise- whiskey and ambien, but never together!
-
WOW!! That looks like way more than 40 lbs on you! Nice job!
-
Here's a before and during: ~225 ~175 My profile pic is me at about the same weights, might be lighter than 225 in the fat pic, not sure. I'm 5'7.

ENELL!!! The goddess bra will be your best friend. At my biggest I was a 40DDDD. And trying to run. It was ridonkulous. I probably would have qualified for reduction surgery if I'd had health insurance. The goddess bra was a LIFESAVER. They're spendy but SO WORTH IT.

nope!

ditto!

Garmin also makes several models for people who do triathlons but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which ones are waterproof. The main difference between Polar and Garmin is that Garmin will also tell you distance and pace information if you're interested in that.

YES!!!!! So, so worth it. Speaking as a fellow disgustingly sweaty person (and fellow Michigander! Born and raised a yooper.) There is such a thing as warm running socks though I have found I don't really need them, when your feet are swinging like pendulums you're getting enough blood flow to keep them warm- at least I…
