For anyone who has run a marathon- tengo preguntas
I'm thinking of registering for my first marathon in the spring (so my training would begin early Dec.). This particular race is convenient because its close to home and the timing is almost ideal BUT if I'm reading it correctly I have to finish in under 6 hours which is a 13.7 mile/min pace. I can currently run a half at…

Catfish- help me out!!
Sooooooo, a coworker unloaded about 15 lbs of catfish on me (not complaining!!) and the freezer situation is getting a little precarious so it's time to start cookin it. What do I do with it?? I love fish but have 0 catfish experience. I've had it fried in a restaurant all of about twice. Tips for frying it? What else can…

Polar FT7 question
When did you need to change the battery and how did you know it was time? Mines having issues. Keeps getting stuck at 80-90 when I'm running and I'm sure my HR is at least 160s. I've tried washing the strap, re-wetting the sensors, clicking the monitor on and off the strap a couple times to reset it, no dice. Not wearing…

Ok, ok, maybe there is a difference.. (pics)
I've been whining a lot lately that even though I've lost a significant amount of weight and there are obvious differences in my body, my face still looks just as big. I'm one of those giant watermelon head people with the four chins and no cheekbones. Always been annoying but even MORE annoying to see the weight loss…

RUNNERS: knees that go kablooey?
Alright, sorry in advance for another knee pain thread, but here goes... I have a knee that hyper-extends. I am training for a marathon and all has been going really well for the first 1/3rd of training. Going into week 6 though the knee is starting to bug me and the miles are going to get higher, so here I am looking for…

Tips for a newbie runner?
I did my first 5K last weekend and I am sold!! I have tried to run for years and it had never worked out. I was just too big and weak. Now I am finally able to do it but I frankly don't know what I'm doing as far as training for longer distances. I have good shoes, I also have a pair of vibram 5 fingers which I love but am…

Salty sweat = salty dinner?
So, maybe I'm completely off base on this, but shouldn't you be increasing your salt intake if you're exercising a lot? You're sweating out all your electrolytes, shouldn't you be eating more to compensate? I'm just curious why my sodium never budges from 2,500 even if I've done 3 hours of cardio that day. That just seems…

~30 lbs down, with pics! (hopefully..)
Hi everybody! I'm fairly new here and a huge fan of the site. I've lost about 33 lbs over the last 6 months or so and today is the first time I really noticed it in pictures and wanted to share! Green/black sweater is at ~220 at this time last year, blue shirt is today at ~187. A little about me: I hit my highest weight…

2500 calories is dieting?? Seriously??
So I'm new to the site and fairly new to actively trying to lose weight. I'm starting at 194 lbs and 5'7 and very active. After setting my activity level at the highest and not logging my normal day to day "exercise" (like cleaning, walking to work and back- about 4 miles) MFP says I can eat 1560 calories. After logging…

Which activity level should I choose?
Hi all! I'm new here and not sure what activity category I fall into. My everyday stuff I don't plan on putting in my exercise diary: I walk to work and back everyday- literally 7 days a week most weeks (4 miles with hills), am on my feet most of the day and walk the dog about an hour most nights. I'm also the only one…
