Burn fat, build muscle! And yes you do need protein to build muscle (amongst other things- go put "essential amino acids" into wikipedia). Jillian DVDs are definitely going to put you on the right track. Clif builder bars, nuts and greek yogurt- all good non-meat protein boosters!

Everybody has to start somewhere! Nice job Mel, sounds like a lovely evening.

Same stats but heavier! I'm set at 1200, usually eat back most if not all of my exercise cals. I was stuck at 172-175 for 2 months. 2 MONTHS!! I finally broke into the 160's this week after a weird week of basically zig zagging my calories (unintentionally, my dad was visiting, I ate weirdly). I had a couple of days that I…

I have no suggestions other than: go to wikipedia and put in "essential amino acids" And eat some tofu. Or meat. Or an egg.
-
Alrighty, yeah I've had mine about 8 months and I use it at least 5 days a week. You wash yours in the shower?? Thats dedication, man... I'm impressed!
-
hehe, if my heart rate is ever in the 80s when I'm running I think I'll be a little concerned. I'm almost always in the 150-180 range.

The list is long... and ridiculous... and ridiculously long... A couple: I wish I could run a Boston Marathon qualifying time I wish I could play skip on my curling team I wish I could through hike the Appalachian trail

bump! I've been thinking about this for next summer as well. I just moved to a new state with a lot of mountain bike trails, I'd love some suggestions on how to get started.

????? Dude, running IS my sport. There is nothing I would rather do.
-
EXACTLY! Its a friggin life saver. I do it every single time I run and almost every time I do lower body strength.
-
First time I say something. Second or maybe third time I say something again. After that, I delete them. I recognize that everyone is different and going about this their own way but there are limits to my acceptance. If I don't feel like I can support you I don't see a reason for us to be "friends".

I will not volunteer to give you a butt massage but I will advise you to google "pigeon stretch" and do a couple of those for a good long time. It'll help, I promise. Never fails!

LOOK AT YOUR WAIST!!!! You are going to be a beautiful hourglass when you get through!! Congratulations, you're doing a terrific job!

I have some dorky during pics! I'm 5'7 for reference At about 195 lbs, March 2011, before a bad breakup that led to an intense gym month that got me started: At about 175 lbs, September 2011 Far from done but I'm most proud of the change in my gut. I did so many different things that I don't really know what to tell you as…

Funny you should ask. I just (literally JUST) tried on a pair of sz 8 jeans (hand-me downs from my last roommate, I've never been a sz 8) and I got them on but they were tight. My first thought was "oh man, this is how my sz 16s used to feel..." Other than that- physically I felt ok, although I couldn't REALLY have felt…

I woke up (in the dream) and Danny Devito was in my bed. It was bad.

screwing your shoes is cheaper than yak tracks. I can't vouch for either yet but the trail nerds at that site I posted seem to prefer screwing (hehe.) and I trust them. They run ultras. They're crazy people.
-
Good info about screwing your shoes: http://www.psychowyco.com/id26.html Other than that, get ye some tights! Unless you live somewhere warm I s'pose.

This has been rehashed over and over and over and over and over and ooooooooover again. Its irritating. There is a search function for a reason.

I believe 1200 is the minimum limit for women... You probably should be aiming for 1400-1600. Did you manually change the MFP deficit? Nuts are excellent cal dense foods that won't fill you up much.

I'm 5'7, for reference. These are my before and "during" pics. ~225 lbs (ish), my highest. ~195 lbs, just started MFP: ~175lbs: ~195 lbs: ~175 lbs:

You can't screw up 7 months of hard work with a week and a half off. Promise. You'd REALLY have to be working at it to come anywhere close. I had a similar situation recently when I moved across the country and took about 2 weeks off (if not longer, really I didn't do much the week before I left or my first week here, so…

Men: Short, stocky and bearded! Bonus points if you're interesting looking. Not interesting scary, interesting unique. Bonus points for non-white. Extra bonus points for having hands that have seen actual physical labor. Women: Booty. I love guitar shaped women. Both: Must be funny, genuine and able to hold a conversation.

I seem to have broken through a long plateau (2 months) today after a weird week of wildly varying calories (1300-2200) and taking the week mostly off of exercising. I was previously eating 1800-2000 most days, set at a base of 1200 and exercising a lot everyday (half marathon training, biking to work, strength training)…
-
YES!! Very well put.
-
I also run and mix in other videos, but I don't do 30ds everyday or in order. I started off intending to do it everyday but I get to bored doing the same routine and I felt better pushing myself when I knew I was going to rest those muscle groups the next day.
-
I would looooooooooove for stress and sleep to be the answer to my plateau. That actually would make a fair amount of sense in my situation since I've been plateauing since I moved to a new state and started a new job. Thanks for posting this, excellent reminder!
