  • As far as losing weight, you'll see a difference if you're in a calorie deficit, which isn't automatically achieved just by cutting out "junk." There are people here who've been vegan for years and gained on it, for instance. Given that you're already at a pretty good weight, though, I'd advise against anything drastic.…
  • Popcorn and pretzel sticks. To be honest I don't track sodium because it's never much of a problem for me, but I've cut back on adding it myself (salt shaker, you know).
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1159755-looking-for-a-detox-cleanse Read that. That's my advice.
  • I would suggest actually asking the doctor that told you this in the first place about any concerns or possible side effects. As you said, your case is atypical, and I doubt many people here would know, even if you had more details to give us.
  • Goldfish crackers. My friends agree that they're probably sprinkled with crack.
  • What would happen if someone was both a Wellness Coach and a Beachbody Coach? Would reality as we know it cease to exist?
  • As long as you don't have an allergy or intolerance, there's really no reason to cut anything out or call it bad. I personally love milk and string cheese, as well as sprinkling mozzarella on my deli meat sandwiches.

  • I've seen similar ideas for a lot less than that at Wal-Mart, but I'm personally content with what I have. Then again, I only tend to drink calories once in a while.
  • I'll echo what others have said in the past and say that Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead isn't a documentary, it's an infomercial.
  • No it's not ignorance. I'm well aware of the problems that can cause intolerance or difficulty digesting, considering they've been trying for ten years to figure out what's wrong with my own stomach (so far all they can see is I produce too much stomach acid, but no particular cause). But she is saying she can't eat…
  • Uh yeah, go to a specialist. If what you claim is true, I'm pretty sure you're magical or something. They could write a best-selling book about you. The Person Who Couldn't Eat Anything.
  • I remember that. That thread got real awkward real quick.
  • I'm constantly seeing ads lately for Hannaford having a sale on iced tea, as well as ones for Atkins and one time I read a thread about some random crash diet and voila, ad for it the next day. Although that's only on mobile. On my laptop I use Chrome and AdBlock Plus.
  • A lot of people on here have come to the consensus of eating back about half of the calories you burn. I'd say it's a good amount, accounting for over-estimated burns and underestimated calorie numbers in foods.
  • Milk can produce mucus, yeah. It's why, as a high school choir geek, I was told to avoid it before rehearsals and concerts. I love milk though so I didn't always follow that, oops. I'm too broke to afford it every week though, let alone alternatives so eh. There are other ways to get calcium if it bugs you.
  • Raspberries. I love raspberries, and they're pretty high in fiber, among other things.
  • I don't track sugar for this reason. While it's true sugar is something to cut back on, especially if you have a condition that it aggravates, it's counterproductive to worry about the sugar content of grapes or an apple when it provides more nutrition than a candy bar with the same amount.
  • Request sent! I'm a returner as well, although I never reached my goal the first time. Good luck!
  • I'll add you! I log in every day and my diary is open to friends. My current goal is higher than yours but once I hit it, I plan on making a new one. Little bit at a time and all that.
  • Exactly. Save yourself the trouble and get some ice cream that you already know the calories of? It'd probably be cheaper, too.
  • Definitely look into some more weight training if you're worried about how you look. And as the poster above said, don't worry about the scale. You'll probably gain some weight, but it will be healthy muscle mass if you're doing it right.
  • I happen to LIKE flatbread pizza. And regular crust pizza. And stuffed crust. And pan. With lots of bacon. Mm, bacon.
  • I went to a nutritionist for a little bit before she ended up having to move. She was really nice, was able to help me iron out some goals etc. And she's the one who introduced me to this site, which is helping to keep me motivated to lose weight now that I'm on my own. So not all of them are bad. It's like any other job…
  • I've honestly never seen that recommendation. Water is water. It's good to drink it but the amount needed varies from person to person. Basically it's like every other bodily function. When you're hungry, you eat, when you need to pee, you go to the bathroom, when you're thirsty, drink something.
  • I'm twenty-three years old and half of that describes my own eating habits. Honestly as long as you aren't gorging on an entire bag of fruit snacks or chicken fingers or whatever, what's the harm?

  • Water is good for you, as you obviously know. It's also good for weight loss in that if you eat a lot of foods that are high in sodium, consistently drinking water can help prevent water retention, which can add a few pounds (at least temporarily) and discourage people. It isn't magical either way, really.
  • There's no such thing as a food that will magically make you stop losing weight, barring high-sodium ones that make you retain water for a while (but that doesn't really count, because it goes away and then you're fine). If you're hungry and still at a deficit, you can eat anything if all you care about is that deficit.…
  • High fiber bread, for one. There's a twelve grain one my sister and I both love. Little high in calories but it's pretty hardy so I don't find myself reaching for something else too soon after that lunch sandwich. I also always get string cheese. Low in calories, high in calcium and protein for such a little thing. I…
  • You can eat anything and lose weight, as most of this forum will tell you. If you're concerned about your health as well then no, classic chicken nuggets aren't the best. But my mother would make them herself every Sunday with a chicken breast and breading herself. Toss it in the oven instead of the fryer and you have…
  • I wasn't aware that giving dissenting opinions backed by personal experience was derailing a topic asking for opinions but okay.
