Have you tried frozen tofu? The texture changes after being frozen. Thaw, squeeze the water out, and then use it in your favorite sti-fry dish or try baked tofu.

Congrats! I'm super jealous :)

I usually run around my neighborhood, but I've driven ~5 hrs to get to a race.

I love the Honey Stingers banana!

The main thing is to try out the various gels, blocks, and food during your training runs. You don't want to start experimenting with them on race day. Also, make sure to drink water or sports drink after you take a gel or blocks. Everyone is different, but I love the Honey Stinger organic energy chews.

You might be drinking too much water? You might want to try taking electrolyte pills like SaltSticks.

What is your recipe for the chickpeas? Yarghhh.

I don't bother bringing water with me for runs shorter than 90 minutes, unless it's super hot and humid outside. If I plan to be on my feet for 2 hours or more, I usually carry my hand-held bottle that has a strap for your hand. I also have a waist pack that stores one water bottle on my back, but the sloshing of the water…

Don't worry to much. Race day adrenaline will help you forget about missing some workouts. Good luck tomorrow! You're going to run a great race.

Wow, I never thought chocolate and zucchini would look so delicious! I want to make them soon.

Good luck with your first half marathon! I agree with ema727. Resist the urge to go out too fast in the beginning. 13.1 miles isn't supposed to be a sprint. Race day adrenalin will make you want to go hard in the beginning and keep up with the other people around you, but hold back a little. You can always pick it up…

Oh yeah, the ice baths for my foot helped me a lot. No, it's not the activator gun. It's like a...scraper? Lol, it sounds awful, but totally works.

I've had ART for my foot and ankle. The chiro used a metal instrument to break up the adhesions while I moved my foot or ankle. Each session lasted about 15-20 minutes and I went in twice a week for about 3 weeks. The treatments are uncomfortable and sometimes it hurt, but it really worked for me. Not all chiropractors are…

I liked this one a lot. http://www.amazon.com/What-Talk-About-When-Running/dp/0307269191

Have you tried ART?

I mentioned Bodyglide only because the bottom of my feet are kind of rough. Maybe you should look into Drymax socks. They make some great running socks with a good amount of padding on the bottom. They're pretty comfortable. Hope you have a great run next time!
-
What kind of "regular" socks are you wearing? I suggest moisture wicking socks (non-cotton) to reduce friction. You can also apply Bodyglide on the bottom of your feet before putting on your running socks.

Woo hoo! Congratulations on your first 5k, with a great finish time to boot! Good luck on your next race :flowerforyou:

I've had it. My chiropractor treated me with ART and I recovered completely in less than 3 weeks. I cut back my mileage by a lot during these 3 weeks, but I never completely stopped running. I was first diagnosed with it in early March last year and was still able to run a 50 km race in May and a 50 mi in June. In my…

Oh hi there! I have a forerunner and yes, the HRM works for other activities. I use it for my indoor spinning classes all the time.
-
She's amazing. First place @ Western States? Yup, badass, alright.
-
Hi, ultra-runners. I have a 50 mile race in May, but nothing scheduled after that.

Are you new to spinning? Did an instructor help you with the proper bike set-up?

One of my favorite movie snacks (to smuggle in) is a sandwich made with hummus, arugula, parmesan, and black pepper!

I can relate. Today was the first time I stepped on the scale since September! Turns out I gained 10 pounds, which is more than half of the total weight I had lost since I signed up for MFP. I had really slacked off logging calories, but I'm back on the logging wagon. I have some races coming up and I hope the training…

Don't debate, just do it! I did my first 50 miler a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing!
-
I usually do my long runs back-to-back (Sat + Sun).
-
I usually fold the top of the cup closed so it looks like a slit. Some water still spills out, but not as much and it's easier to drink this way.

Your title made me actually laugh out loud. Great job!
