Ok I feel kind of silly even asking but.... Is it my shoes, socks, they way I am jogging?

I am doing couch25k but after I do that I still walk ad a moderate pace after that (3.5) for a while today it was for a total of 5 Miles.... The bottoms of feet started to hurt towards the end. When I was done the bottoms of my socks were worn thread bare right under the toes.

Other detail that may matter shoes are fila running shoes about 3 weeks old, socks were pretty much new but just regular socks.

    Bump
  • What kind of "regular" socks are you wearing? I suggest moisture wicking socks (non-cotton) to reduce friction. You can also apply Bodyglide on the bottom of your feet before putting on your running socks.

Literally regular Hanes cotton in the package kind...... I was hoping socks would be the answer since it would be an easy fix.

I didn't blister the bottom at all but it hurt a little bit walking afterwards.

    Thanks for your reply!
  • I mentioned Bodyglide only because the bottom of my feet are kind of rough. Maybe you should look into Drymax socks. They make some great running socks with a good amount of padding on the bottom. They're pretty comfortable.

Hope you have a great run next time!

Well I wouldn't classify them as runs just yet.... But I hope to get there at the end!

I second the pp who suggested non-cotton wicking socks.... they are a must for running.

Sock Guy socks. Some stores sell them, and you can always find them online. GREAT STUFF!!! Balega makes good running socks, also. But they're not as off the wall as sock guy.

Have you zipped on down to your local dedicated running store to see what they say? I'm sure they'll have tons of socks - and answers - for you.

Body glide is great stuff. A good tip indeed. Whether socks are or are not the problem, you won't know if you don't get into a better pair. And your feet will be so glad once you get out of the cotton and get into some dedicated running socks. From your dedicated running store! Now that's dedication.

Good luck solving your problem, and lots of positive vibes toward your running program. So much fun!!!

I haven't been to a running store yet.... It's my own hang ups right now same reason I run in my basement on the treadmill..... I won't run in public. I would feel so awkward going into a running store at my current weight. I know everyone has to start somewhere though and I will get there eventually.

Thanks so much for the replies!!
