  • Admittedly I didn't read through all the posts, so someone might've suggested it already, but maybe focus more on the walks rather than the elliptical. Try to do a daily walk (even if it's short) outdoors. I had the same deal as you, but I've found that daily fresh air made the headaches stop. Or, I would have a headache,…
  • Nutella is a trigger for me as well. I usually have peanut butter. I either make it myself in my Vitamix, or I'll buy 100% peanuts butter (ie, the ingredients literally say: Just peanuts) Almond butter goes great with fruit though. :)
  • I agree with an earlier poster. I don't think it's so much about weight, but more about body fat percentage. Buy some weights and do some free lifting, or hit the gym and use theirs. :)
  • While this doesn't help your baking question, what I find that makes an excellent dessert is a bowl of frozen fruit. Nice and sweet, aesthetically pleasing, and something about the chilled factor makes you feel like you're indulging in a really rich dessert. :)
  • For my runs in the morning, I do the run and then have breakfast after. I've always been the sort of person who *can't* eat right when I get up. I have to wait an hour or two after getting up or I can't eat. And rather than just chilling around the house for an hour or two, eating, then waiting 30 minutes to go for a run,…
  • New clothes. :D The only thing more victorious than a lower number on the scale, is a smaller size of pants. :)
  • The wrong mindset. I exercised solely to burn calories, not to become fit/healthy, not for fun, just to drop pounds. Once I was satisfied with the weight loss, I stopped all exercise and returned to being a couch potato. Over the years the weight slowly came back. This time though, I know that when I get to my goal, it's…
  • Try to keep the crowd away from the table of food. If you're directly in front of the food for the whole party, it's nearly impossible to avoid nibbling.
  • I had this problem too. I hated it so much that when I drank it, I felt queasy. Obviously the queasy feeling was all in my head, but the mind is a powerful thing. My solution? Homemade unsweetened iced tea. I throw in three bags of any fruity Celestial Seasonings herbal teas into a big pitcher, fill it up with cold…
  • Thanks both of you for your answers. :) That's super helpful. I'll still be doing my runs to help burn off the fat, so hopefully the combination will yield some results by Spring! :D
  • Welcome! :) I'm a 24 year old female. I used to play on WOW now and then too. Best of luck, and just remember, it won't come off overnight and that everyone's body is different, so try not to compare with others, and just be proud of your own achievements. :)
  • [...] Edited out a reply to the person arguing against almond milk. Changed my mind, just don't feel like getting into it.
  • I recommend unsweetened almond milk. It's very similar to milk nutrient wise (not exactly the same. The almond milk has more of some things, and less with other things) and only 30 calories for one cup. This is of course, assuming you don't have a nut allergy, heh. Otherwise probably not ;)
  • To drop 15 pounds by the end of June. To stay motivated, and build up my endurance. Right now I run just over 3km on my 4.19 hike (mind you it has a TON of intense uphills, otherwise I know that's a short hike) and by this time next year, I want to be strong enough to run the whole thing. :)
  • I used to always get a ton of chocolate presents, but the last few years of overweight-dom, I think my smile couldn't help slipping at the sight of chocolate gifts, so my family have learned not to buy me any. xD; I have a bit of chocolate from my stocking, but thankfully that's it. I'm a bit weird when I receive chocolate…
  • Maintained Christmas morning (after the dinner on Eve) and down .2lbs today. I expected to have gained some water weight (there's a ton of sodium in turkey and ham afterall) but I guess I kept my serving sizes small enough of the meats that I was okay. Mind you, I still exercised both days. I actually did 11km of just…
  • I make oatmeal with a tablespoon of chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, lots of cinnamon, unsweetened almond milk, topped with a 1/3 cup frozen blueberries. I've been having that everyday for nearly a year. It's delicious every single time, it gives you a ton of natural energy, and it keeps you full straight through 'til…
  • Being in a constant state of depression for several years. Life's too short to waste it like that. 95% of my depression was due to my weight, and how difficult it was to go on a hike with family, or kayaking or anything since I had no stamina. I finally got fed up with it and I've lost a ton of weight this year. I only…
  • I definitely do exercise on Christmas. I got up at today 6:45A and was out the door at 7AM to go on a 6km hike. Then I did today's arm+ab challenge from a 30 day challenge I'm working on. By 9AM I already did a respectable amount of exercise :) Just waiting for the family to arrive so we can open presents, and then…
  • You're keeping a healthy attitude, so that's progress right there. :) I find for me, I'll maintain, maintain, maintain, WHOA FIVE POUNDS OFF rinse repeat. It's possible your body might do the same. :)
  • It's totally fine if you disagree with my point of view, but no need to be so rude. Yeesh.
  • I'm not really articulating what I mean correctly, sorry. I guess what I'm trying to say is, at least with fruit you still get fibre and plenty of vitamins. Whereas a lot of items with added sugar are just empty calories, or is added in to make you addicted to it. Often they add in FAR more than what you might find in say…
  • I'm a 24 year old Canadian. I've managed to lose a lot of weight the past several months, and I thought that maybe trying out Myfitnesspal might aid me in losing my last 15lbs. :) I've recently discovered a love for running, which I never thought would happen in a million lifetimes for me, as I always hated PE or even just…
  • Well ... yeah. Processed sugar is far worse than natural sugar. Fruit sugar isn't 'added' sugar because it's already there by nature. So I followed through with what I said. But of course, still in moderation. If you're tanking out on fruit you could definitely gain weight.
  • Fruit is healthy. Obviously if you eat too much you can gain weight from all the natural sugars contained within them. But natural sugar provides energy, not to mention the plethora of vitamins you get from fruit. Fruit is also a naturally sweet food, and will stop you from reaching into the cookie jar. Jonesing for a…
