  • Asparagus, mushrooms, onions, carrots, cabbage (omg cabbage with garlic salt you're welcome), cauliflower (just roast the whole head for about 50 minutes - cover in sesame and grapeseed oil, some ginger and chili garlic sauce, yummy!), little cherry tomatoes.... Like, pretty much any vegetable tastes amazing roasted! Just…
  • I usually get 30-40 grams of fiber a day. Eat plants. That's where your fiber is. Just having an apple gives you 4g of fiber. Beans are awesome for fiber. So are nuts. If you eat oatmeal, cereal, or smoothies, toss a tablespoon or two of flaxseed meal into it. An easy thing to do is have a green smoothie in the day. 2 cups…
  • I try to intermittent fast once a week, but I do it for a different reason than the burning fat thing. I'm a constant snacker, and IF helps teach me to go long periods of time without eating. It teaches me it's ok to go a few hours without putting something in my mouth. It also helps teach me what hunger feels like, and…
  • Heyo! I'm a pescatarian right now (although fish consumption is like...once every few months lol). I'm transitioning to vegan though! Friend request sent :)
  • I'm transitioning to vegan. It's probably going to be a long transition (I'm pescatarian now, but determined to work my way to the real deal), but I'd love to be friends with fellow vegans and see what everyone else eats! Please feel free to add me as a friend :)
  • I add a couple tablespoons of flaxseed to my morning smoothie or pancakes or oatmeal. I just use ground flaxseed meal. I made a lentil "meat" loaf using flaxseed and water as a binder. The lentils and the flaxseed combined make me so unbelievably full. I have yet to be able to finish a whole serving of that loaf.
  • For caffeine, black tea will have the most. Green tea also has caffeine, but not as much. Personally, I shop at adagio.com and have a subscription to Just Add Honey (a monthly box that sends you tea and honey). I use mostly loose leaf tea. I like Irish Breakfast with a tiny bit of sugar or honey in the morning, a couple…

  • I love to go boxing! I attend a class every morning, which is a circuit training class. I also take my dog for a walk three or four days a week.
  • What's been working for me lately is this thought process. If I give up now, where will I be in a year? Five years? Ten years? If I don't give up now, where will I be in a year, or five years, or ten years? I've only lost 21 pounds so far, and I still have a hundred pounds left to go. Those first 20 were hard, do I really…
  • Another veg-head here! Your profile says you've lost 10kg, which is awesome! I think you're on the right track, just make sure you track your food accurately. As far as eating back the calories after working out, I usually see if I feel hungry or not. If I'm hungry, I'll eat back some. OR if I want to give myself a treat…
  • What kind of BC are you on? I was put on BC about five months ago, which is the same time I started losing weight. I've only had issues when I stopped tracking my food. Everything else has been fine. Like the others have said, weight loss = calories in < calories out.
  • I eat very close to a vegan diet (no meat, no eggs, a little dairy). Are you eating varied foods? Are you getting lots of beans and/or nuts in every day? Those are going to be the foods with lots of fiber and protein, so they'll keep you fuller, longer. Also, do you have your goals set accurately here on MFP, and are you…
  • I eat closer to a vegan diet (vegetarian, no eggs, little dairy) because I don't really like many animal products. I may have fish a few times a year, but that's about it for my meat intake. For me it works. Plant based diets tend to be higher in fiber since fiber is only found in plants, so that's good. They also tend to…
  • Possibly? I checked Wikipedia, which lists symptoms as pain around the elbows (which was only during class, not now) and ^^which is more what I'm feeling right now in the middle of my forearm. Rest is suggested for minor tennis elbow, so maybe I'll just take it easy over the weekend? Not sure going to the doctor would do…
  • I've not been taught (only been going for about two and a half weeks now), so the instructor is still wrapping them for me. And yup, using proper gloves. I'm thinking maybe it's because I haven't done anything that's impact-related, like boxing is. I first noticed it when I was throwing some punches at the bag. Asked the…
  • I don't track sugar because I'm more concerned about fiber and iron. But I do track fruit because losing weight is calories in < calories out, and fruit has calories.
  • About once a year, we like to hike Harney Peak. It's two or three hours up, and usually one or two coming down. Burns about 3000-4000 calories. Of course, I let myself get too fat over this last year, and I didn't exercise at all until recently. Honestly not sure if I'll be able to go this year :(
  • My biggest symptom was acne. Holy hell, I got so many zits before I got birth control, more than I ever did as a teenager. BC and a round of antibiotics have mostly fixed my face, with the exception of scarring.
  • I'm a librarian, so it's not a completely sedentary job (lots of getting up and helping people on computers or showing them where their book is), but it's still a lot of desk time. Working out in the morning works best for me. I usually go to a boxing class at 5am, but maybe an early morning walk/jog/run or gym session…
  • Eat less, move more. It ain't always fun, but that's how it's done.
  • The advice on logging before you eat something is golden. I usually log my meals in, and then if I want something else, I log it and see if it's worth it. Whenever I eat mindlessly and add later, I always regret it and go waaaaaay over my intended intake. It's so much easier to stay under my calorie goal when I eat…
  • Definitely naughty.
  • Oh, and one thing you could consider (I'm not sure if it's safe with hypothyroidism) is intermittent fasting. I did this because, like you, I was addicted to eating. It wasn't even food, it was the physical act of putting food in my mouth and consuming it. I needed to teach myself how to go for longer periods without food,…
  • This sounds like me a couple months ago. And honestly, there's nothing I can really say to help you out except you need to find the motivation within you. For me, I just sat down and realized how incredibly important my health is, and how my habits are literally killing me. I'm 28 years old. I want to be a quarter of the…
  • I thought activity level was how active are you without exercise? So if you take in your day to day life, do you have a sedentary job, are you chasing after kids all day, do you spend most of the day on your feet or being slightly active. Any purposeful exercise, like cardio or strength training, would then get added into…
  • Awesome! I'll definitely be trying this out then!
  • Haha! That sounds awesome! I'm going to have to try that at some point!
  • You, good sir, are quite awesome!
