You've already gotten a ton of great suggestions, so I don't feel like I need to chip in. I'm a senior in college and I live in college-owned apartment style housing, so I cook my own meals most of the time. If you need support/friend in a fellow college student, feel free to add me.

Hi all! I'm weightliftingdiva. I weigh in at 196.8 lbs, and about 5'6.5". I'm a 21 year old senior in college (gulp). Over the past two years, I've lost about 18 pounds (I know, I'm a slow mover!) My problem with calories is that I always have the "well, I can restart tomorrow" mindset... while I'm stuffing my face with…

Eggs over easy with toast. Ask the toast to come without butter or butter on the side. I like getting the whole eggs and not the scrambled because the scrambled/omelettes usually use liquid eggs from a carton. Nothing wrong with that, it's just harder to estimate the portion size compared to when you have two whole eggs in…

If you can meet your nutrition, fitness goals and practice your spirituality without eating meat, than eating meat is not important. Do you enjoy eating meat, and it fits into your goals? Eat it. Don't like it, don't need it? Don't eat it. I personally don't like consuming a lot of meat (usually no more than once per day)…

Intermediate! Characters... ugh... Carol or Daryl? I choose Carol!!!

This is amazing! Count me in!

Since C25k is based on intervals of walking and running, I'm not sure how a walking version of C25k would work. Like newhealthyskin said, perhaps increase your distance each week? Or do intervals of slower walking/faster walking instead?

Right? Also, it would be unethical for a grad student (and also odd for a grad student in an English program) to be collecting research surveys with non-random responses off of the internet... So unless they're doing really bad research... I think the OP meant "naturally curious" because people who end up in grad school…

Maybe for spices or butter? If the spoon is small, I don't see how this would be practical for anything but that.

I also think kids are a lot less active (read: more TV and video games) than they used to be.

Wow. Really unprofessional and rude. If this happened to me, I would have called them out on it right there. If they didn't change the behavior then I would just leave.

I think her key phrase was "making sure it falls with my caloric allotment". I do the same thing. I cook whatever I feel like making, just in a portion that meets my needs. It's not "conveniently enough" it's how she makes this work for her.

No worries. I'm 21 and I abhor thongs. And my panties aren't "granny panties" either. They're colorful lacey hipsters and briefs. OP - I bought workout underwear at target. They work great and are more breathable then my regular stuff and have no seams. Unfortunately I think target is discontinuing them (I had trouble…

I'm much more worried about the environmental consequences of GMOS and pesticides then I am about any consequence they have on my body.

Try and go to a place that has nutrition information (many fast food options and chain restaurants have nutrition information). If that is not an option, try to stick to lean meats and vegetables with no sauce and no sweetened beverages. That being said... If this is a a big celebration or a rare treat, just eat whatever…

I really enjoy breakfast with traditional breakfast foods. I try and have protein and fat to keep my satisfied longer. I like toast with peanut butter, oats with walnuts/almonds, eggs with potatoes and cheese, egg sandwiches, french toast, pancakes etc.

I'll be entering my senior year in college! Although I've been on MFP for a while, I haven't lost weight due to putting it off and always saying "I can always start tomorrow." I'm doing my best right now, but I plan on making some serious changes when I get to school in a few days. I'll have my own place so I'll be taking…

Woah there.

Not sure why you made a new thread?

^^ This!

It shouldn't be, because water bottling companies take the water out of the ground and then put it in plastic bottles. No reason it should be more expensive then something that requires ingredients AND water as a base.

It depends on the numbers. How many people who receive umemployment are actually not looking for or turning down jobs? How many people on SNAP or WIC could actually work harder instead of receiving government assistance? I suspect that there are a lot more working poor people then you think there are. Are there people who…

Now on THIS I agree with you!!!

Yeah it is a good topic, and I'm glad we've had respectable discussion so far.

Unfortunately the founding fathers didn't write a "How-to-interpret" guide that accompanies the constitution. You believe that the *federal* constitution should be interpreted narrowly and that those are the only powers the feds should have. Other people disagree and have a wider interpretation of the constitution. Edit:…

I like you.

Just a philosophical difference I guess.

What is affordable to you may not be affordable to someone else. $250 is a lot of money to some people. I did not know about the payment plan, that's interesting. I'd imagine if you only have to see a doctor once, that would be hugely beneficial. But if you have a condition that requires lots of doctors and prescriptions,…

There are plenty of people on both sides - exactly. I seriously doubt every single person in poverty wants to stay that way. Some people do, I'm sure. But people characterize all poor people as being lazy, which is just not fair. I see people blanket all poor people as lazy and all non-poor people as the hard workers.…

I understand why you'd think that. I don't know the numbers, but I'd guess it has more to do with corporations wanting $$$ then with government regulation. We need someone with numbers to be able to show us. :P
