I am in the same boat! I went from about 220 in high school, to an athletic 185, and now up to my heaviest at 267. My initial goal is to get back to my high school weight, and then back to where I was at my best. I am down to 12lbs since I started a few weeks ago... 55lbs left to go! Lets do this!!!

Unfortunately, labels do not indicate how much "salt" you are getting, but only how much sodium. A lot of times, the sodium reported does indicate a lot of salt. Your best bet is to: 1.) Avoid adding extra salt; 2.) Avoid processed/packaged foods as much as possible; 3.) Trust your taste buds - if it tastes salty, it…

Sunny, you WILL do it! Welcome!

I wouldn't worry a ton about the sodium intake unless you have a history of hypertension. Sodium is not bad for you. Too much salt is bad for you. Watch how much salt you are ingesting. Sodium (Na) is only part of salt (NaCl) which is why it gets such a bad reputation. Sodium is required for a lot of processes in the body…

I strongly agree with this. OP, it sounds like you got the typical "cookie cutter" diet that a lot of these online trainers put out. You will lose weight on this diet, but you're bound to damage your metabolism, and go a little nutty in the process.

That's a great idea! I have a shirt that I want to fit into... I'll probably do the same. Thanks!

Vanilla is pretty hit/miss. Fortunately, it mixes with just about everything!
-
I'm not entirely sure why... the french vanilla is the best bang for your buck though at 77 servings!
-
Not a bad deal! Figure, depending on the flavor you typically get 70+ servings... so that is way less than $1 a scoop for a good quality whey.

OP, here's an idea that may help you... I literally took an old photo of myself when I was in much better shape and stuck it to the front of my fridge. I can't open the fridge without seeing this and reminding myself of my goal. Alternatively, you can find the photo that you like least of yourself, and use that. Either…

We're all good!

I can't remember the brand off of the top of my head, but I love the 80%+ dark chocolate with sea salt that you see at the grocery store. And by love it... I FREAKING LOVE IT.

Sorry if I offended you. Sometimes my odd sense of humor gets lost through the text. And yes, the most important thing is to do what is maintainable in the long run.

5lb tub of ON Gold Standard is on sale at GNC for $56.99... few more bucks off with a Gold Card.

Discipline. Determination. Desire. The three D's. You have to really want it!
-
lol! I'm just a huge fan of not being hungry while dieting!

Your calories are too low... your Basal Metabolic Rate is over 1300kcal daily.

True, just sharing what has worked for myself (and many other endomorphs, for that matter).

Totally agree with everything you said. I didn't want to make it too complicated by going into gluconeogenisis. As far as insulin spikes - there are "necessary" and "unnecessary" insulin spikes. Timed correctly (post-workout) they are very beneficial into turning the body into an anabolic state and facilitating quick…

I have had similar problems. Now I plan my own meals. I cook for myself and I rarely go out to dinner.

Fats are definitely not hindering your weight loss. Without going into too much detail... #1 - Fats keep you "full." A big mistake that dieters make is that they cut their fats too low, and are hungry all the time. That is a huge reason why many dieters fail. #2 - Carbohydrates spike your insulin and put your body into…

Go for it. You could do much MUCH worse... I'd go for something a little less lean though. Remember, fats keep you full.

Check out a protein called "About Time." 100% whey protein isolates... and is reasonably priced. 100 kcal 0g Fat <1g Carbs 25g Protein Also, figure that every gram of protein is 4kcal... so 100% of the calories come straight from protein. tryabouttime.com

Everyone is different, but the standard is 5% of your total calories from your macronutrients. Personally, I go even lower... right now I am averaging less than 10-15g of carbs per day, or around 1%. Oddly, even with my carbs so low I feel great!

Thank you! I am amazed by how much activity there is on these boards!

I think these are fantastic suggestions!

Hi Chris! I am also trying to make a few pounds disappear (80lbs). If you work hard, and smart... you can do anything. You can, and you will do it!
