  • haha how ? chop them off and weigh them..:o
  • I know that I can monitor the loss but I just wanted to see what the result of a couple of weeks of non-activity were ....when you are sitting about with your leg in the air you think these odd things! I was 61.8 kg pre-accident and am now 65kg ... don't think it's all plaster!
  • That's great advice - thankyou No they haven't mentioned any exercise but it was only yesterday - the full cast doesn't go on until next week - at the moment I'm in a 3/4 one to allow for swelling.
  • Thanks .. I'm still in a bit of shock that such a small slip could cause a break. I don't normally go to a gym but it probably would be a good thing to start to keep the rest of my in shape - I think I've burned a million calories hopping about on those crutches today
  • I would tell him your intent " please leave me alone, I prefer to exercise alone and I do not want your advice. If you don't I will have to speak to the management because this constant pestering when I have asked you to stop is unprofessional" Facts and cards on table. Then if he continues you have much stronger case to…
  • If your 'lightly active' them I'm comatose! Sounds like a pretty active work day to me - made me tired reading it
  • Don't worry about any weight gain. Just concentrate on eating exactly what you can manage and fancy. Now those nasty infection-making tonsils are gone you'll feel so much better and have more energy you'll be able to do more exercise. Give it a couple of weeks and I'm sure any extra weight (if there is any) will fall off.
  • I like my Charge 2 and find it motivating. I have a triathlete family who all have fancy top of the range Garmin watches and cyclometers plus a separate gps unit so I've had lots to 'check' its accuracy against. Once I calibrated my stride correctly we've found it is surprisingly accurate - steps and distance are usually…
  • Not a lifter but my greatest feat of strength has been childbirth x2 and getting through 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Bench pressing ....not so good at that!
  • If you've figured it out can you share your brilliance :-) I'm still looking for it Is it a MFP setting or. Fitbit one? Thanks
  • Please can you explain where this Fitbit adjust is - I think I'd like to copy your approach
  • I'm surprised. I did a 21km hike today and my daily total was a calorie burn of 2662 A 29km bike ride gave me 627 calories. Your 2150 without exercise seems too high I have a Fitbit Charge 2 HR
  • I read that you have to try a new food TEN times before your tastebuds can decide whether they really like the food or not. That means ten different times – not ten bites at the same meal. As others have said it doesn't matter if you don't expand to other foods but if you want to it may be that you find you start to like…
  • I'm intrigued! When you say you eat breakfast at your desk do you literally mean while you are typing away at your computer or do you go to lunch room and sit and have it there. We are only supposed to have a 10 min am break - hardly time to have breakfast at work!
  • This irritates me too. My son for 5 years every day took only 3 plain bread rolls for his lunch. No butter no filling no fruit. Nothing else. That's what he wanted and that's what he had. I made sure it was all balanced with a big healthy sustaining breakfast and after school tea / dinner etc . This teacher has no idea of…
  • Bread is not my problem ...it's all that deliciousness that goes on top that I love :-) Nice thick butter, lemon curd, peanut butter, honey - bread is just the transporter of the topping. Haven't cut it out but as I know it's a weakness I've cut right back and make sure I log each crumb.
  • I charge it at a time I know my levels will be low - in the evening when really all I'm doing is walking around house or sitting relaxing.
  • I agree - get everything ready the night before. Lunch in fridge ready to grab, things for post gym shower packed work clothes, work bag etc on a hanger or if your car is safe already in car and your gym stuff literally lying on the floor so you can't get out of bed without falling over it! Then wake, drink of water, quick…
  • I have just upgraded from a basic Fitbit one to a charge 2 ( with HR) and I'm really liking it. Do I need all the features ..probably not but do I enjoy playing with them, seeing how long I've done in each fat burning zone or at what HR - yes! It adds motivation to my excercise My son has a top range Garmin and mine…
  • I think I'm just more sneaky and maybe less guilty about wasting food. I'll sometimes accept a little sliver of cake at work birthday morning tea and say I'll have it later then simply throw it away. I even gone as far as to comment afterwards how tasty it was! If this colleague kept forcing food on me and wouldn't take no…
  • Do you have access to a stationary bicycle ? I had a lot of trouble with a painful / giving way / locking knee and find that doing 20 mins on the static bike daily really strengthened the muscles around my knee ( taking away need for a brace)
  • Yes - we can be silly can't we.There was a birthday at work today so a large chocolate cake. it wasn't a time I would normally have thought of eating, let alone cake but everyone was having a slice so I was tempted. Wasn't a huge slice but to be honest it wasn't even a particularly nice cake and I was left thinking " why…
  • I think you have done really well. In my view you should just treat yourself to a couple of lovely tops that show off your new (reducing) shape and make you feel gorgeous. The nice comments you'll get and how good (sexy / fit/ slender) you'll feel will keep you motivated for the rest of your weight loss journey. Go on -…
  • I record 105 calories for a medium banana which measures 5-6" long. I agree the difference between the extra inch potentially is 4 1/2 calories but not enough to fret over!
  • I had a slither up and am now working on going down again! Mine was nothing major ..just a combination of a few more glasses of wine in a week, slightly bigger portions, bits of cake and nibbles at work … just all those wee deviations quickly add up.
  • By the way you take 50 mcg levo daily not 50 mg … 1000 mcg in 1 mg so you'd be seriously overdosing ;-)
  • I take 125mcg levothyroxine daily and have slowly but steadily through monitoring food intake and regular exercise lost 9kg (20llbs) doubt it is your drugs
  • If it's a rare day I wouldn't worry. You might be coming down with a cold or something. I'd just eat what you felt like. Anyhow - all the more calories gathered up for a couple of days time when you can have a treat if you feel like it!
  • Maybe don't think of 'exercise' as a 'thing' ..like a separate activity that for you "Ugh, exercising just.... ugh." It doesn't have to be the gym or heavy workouts. What do you like to do? .. go for a walk with a friend and gossip as you stride along, get off the bus 3 stops earlier - you honestly won't notice the…
  • I like to watch medical documentaries - rescue 111, life in ER …what my partner calls my 'blood and gore' and refuses to have on. Nothing like a good operation scene cutting through belly fat to make me cycle the static bike faster!
