  • As others have said this is just a normal developmental stage, my youngest went through this at tis age as well. (My oldest didn't but he has autism, and missed this developmental milestone.) One thing I found helpful was integrating some fun activity that you can do every day, even when your working as time for you and…
  • Thank you for posting this. It is such an important issue.
  • Stick to your goal calories for now. Don't rush it. 1200 calories is the bare minimum for a person at a healthy weight and light activity to stay healthy. Those of us who weigh more or do more need more. When we try to lose too much too quickly the weight loss tends to stall and come back easier. I think of it like the…
  • Men have more muscle mass and need more calories than women. I believe I have read that the 1200 calorie minimum is for women and that men really should have at least 1800 calories! Please make sure your stats were entered correctly, and check with your doctor before cutting your calories this low.
  • I would only count it if it was all day and intense. If I'm exhausted afterword I might count part of it. I logged moving furniture and boxes twice in the last couple of weeks when I was helping my mom or friends move. However I only logged a small fraction of the actual time I was there. Worked for two hours... logged 25…
  • Start logging what you eat. For me as soon as I did it became painfully obvious what would help. The first thing I cut was my soda pop intake. I was up to 5 or 6 a day. 900 calories and no nutrition useful to my body! I couldn't walk as exercise when I first started because of really bad shin splints. I have really enjoyed…
  • Awesome! I came in thinking you might need support and ended up more inspired!
  • I'm glad you posted this. I'm a teacher and they know I'm trying to lose weight, but I try really hard to stay focused on being healthy, and getting to a healthy weight instead of just being thin or looking better. When they ask questions I make sure to tell them why I'm trying to lose weight and how important it is to…
  • You look thinner to me as well. ????
  • Yes it is true and has a very simple scientific explanation. Muscle weighs more, so your weight will stay the same or even go up at first. Muscle also uses more calories though, so as you build muscle dropping fat will get easier.
  • From what you've said I would say you're very close to a good weight. You might wasn't to lose a few pounds, but not much. Your in a healthy BMI range. And based on measurments I'd say your doing fine.
  • If you're falling below 1200 calories frequently I would recommend that you have some kind of breakfast. I understand not normally eating first thing in the morning. I never did before either. I had the same issue with my calories at first. Adding a light breakfast fixed it for me. Even something as simple as toast with a…
  • I'm in Oregon. Not Washington, but it is the same time zone. You can friend me if you would like to.
  • I am! I teach special education and time is a constant issue. All the yummy things people share doesn't help much either.
  • Thank you. I knew this but today I really needed the reminder. Yesterday I was at a new low- 17 pounds down- and I was really excited. Then I miss calculated my dinner and when I corrected it I was still 200 calories over my goal after my workout.???? Today my weight went up 2 pounds, and I have been overreacting.…
  • I have been doing well using a combination of a bunch of strategies. I am not giving up anything I love, just cutting way back on the portions (about 1/2) and making sure I exercise off at least most of the calories if one of those things (for instance my son's B-day cake) results in me going over. I plan out my meals and…
  • This!! You really may need more calories during the day. Also if you are really wanting to make a difference in your tummy, toning exercises will make a big difference. Crunches will help, there are some nice workouts on blender.com that target the stomach.
  • I had that happen as well. It took a few days of drinking lots of water. Keep on track, it will come back off. :)
  • Thank you all. I feel better and will keep an eye on my net calories and enjoy the success while the weight is coming off easily. I know it will get harder, but I'm glad I don't need to worry. As long as I keep feeling better I'm going to just keep doing what I am.
  • I do have a reasonable amount of energy. I feel great, although I was tired yesterday, so I won't be skipping any meals anymore.
  • I am definitely overweight. I hope to lose between 100 and 125 pounds.
  • I went and looked at the reports, and I am typically netting 1300 calories with MFP exercise burn amounts, which I would assume is at least a little high for me...I'm still really out of shape. For two pounds a week MFP set my goal at 1500. (I switched it to 1 pound- because that didn't seem possible two weeks ago.). Is…
  • Fitnessblender.com is an awesome site!!! I never would have thought you could find that kind of quality and variety for free. Just did my first workout there. :) Thank you all again.
  • I do not currently have a stationary bike, but I might get one. That is a really good idea. Elliptical machines don't work for me at all. Something about the way they move both hurts and makes me feel very unsteady... As far as dealing with the shin splint issue itself, I try to do everything I can to deal with the problem…
