You are 100% correct. Addition of muscle will not occur in a deficit, especially in a female. What I should have said was resistance training will activate the existing muscles fibers which will burn fat at a faster rate.

Cut your calories drastically and do a lot of cardio. You will loose weight fast. but the loss will be both fat and muscle. They subside with time and conditioning. Take it slow and stop when the pain starts. You will be able to go a little longer each time. Training past the pain is counter productive.

Everyone is different. Change your carb to protein ratio. Eat a little more fat. You never gave your height, but 150lbs sounds very light to me

When you start the 10k trainer I would suggest skipping the first weeks so you are at the point that the 5k left off. I started the 10k program from the beginning at a slightly faster pace. Looking back I think it was a waist of time. I wish I had skipped right to week 7.

You must determine if it is just fat or gynecomastia. Gyno could be caused by an imbalance of the ratio of Testosterone to Estrogen. The imbalance could also cause weight gain. How heavy were you at you max?
