Good points all. I guess my instinct was less weight on the legs less work, but LORD the resistance in the water was nuts! Will keep that in mind and try to keep my arms below water as well to add to it.

I usually hit the elliptical, crank up the resistance and put on Netflix. The motion makes it next to impossible to read for me. No worse than all the TVs showing things I'm not interested in that the gym has all over the place. When just on the cardio machines busting my butt its a good distraction from my exhaustion…

I eat at their salad bar pretty much weekly, when my husband is out at his weekly language lessons and there's no reason to cook dinner. They have by far the best fixin's in my city. Mostly for me they have been awesome for finding my hubby's nutrition smoothie mix that he uses for breakfast and for finding international…

Since I'm not diabetic I tend not to care about fruit sugar. And here's a little bit of why, just to give a little more background. I don't eat big high calorie meals. I just got into the habit of small meals and snacks and now that's where I am. So I absolutely have to snack in the afternoon (especially before the gym). I…

I have to agree that it depends on the type of pain. If its pain from something you could potentially make worse by working out, then definitely don't keep exercising. But if its something that is just going to hurt regardless (I have a bad knee from previous injuries but nothing ongoing, and fibromyalgia) I generally try…

And I promise the first few times you hear it you will. But when people start flat-out accusing you of being sick and making implications (or actually saying - grrrr) that it's "just easy for you to lose weight" like you haven't been sweating and struggling, you'll start to see the unfortunate side of it. As for when…

Yeh, my husband gets it a lot. And some family like to tease us at parties when we eat before going and opt out of the fast food party platters (Taco Bell - ahhhhhh!). Or they do the whole "Oh, but you're so skinny, you can have ONE." And you have to explain, the reason I'm "so skinny" (I'm not) is that I DON'T eat that…

Yes. I drink wine, hard liquor mixed with low cal options, and even the occasional beer. A glass of wine is actually good for your heart and a number of other things. (Including your sanity!) It doesn't have to be a deal breaker on the diet. Just log it.

I get Ostrim from the Smoothie King sometimes. Or the gym's bar. They're ostrich and other meat (usually beef, but I think they have some turkey). Nothing wrong with them except they're high in sodium like every other jerky or beef stick on the market. They're delicious. Don't feel like you're cheating PROTEIN! :)

I've checked out this site before: http://getdrunknotfat.com/ Also, keep in mind any mixed drinks, if you did not mix them yourself, are often made with a high sugar, high calorie mixer - especially mai tais and margaritas - and don't get me started on daiquiris. I recommend looking for some recipes and definitely make…

Fibromite. My case is fairly mild, so I'm not necessarily a great guide. I do enjoy swimming quite a bit. I do the breaststroke. Its a slower stroke, but works your muscles a little more and burns more calories. My rheumy loves to hear when I've been hitting the pool. I tried to do pilates or yoga, but I just can't get…

No. Your own experience seems to have mimicked my own. I used to take them and never eat. Lost a lot of weight. Once I was off of them and moved on with my life I gained a ton of weight. If you know, like I do about myself, that you cannot mentally handle taking weight loss pills and you have the rushing heart, etc when…

I like this one. I have to agree here. I remember being fat, and I wasn't "happy." I distinctly recall being more anti-social, feeling like a sloth and being sicker. Hmmm....

Gonna be digging into my usual salad of lettuce mix, tuna, mushrooms, tomatoes, cukes, olives, onion and bob's creamy cucumber dressing.
-
greens, cherry tomatoes, purple onion, mushrooms, cucumbers, black olives and either: 1. About two ounces of albacore tuna and a low sodium creamy cucumber dressing or 2. a cut up black bean morningstar patty, some mexican corn and salsa If I do a store salad bar, these change, but this is the standard fare I have at home.

There is an apple and pear flavor that is SUPER refreshing. Its very crisp.

I've typically used Barilla wheat pasta. Now, one serving is 2 oz UNCOOKED. So that is more than 1/4 of a cup once its prepared. That's usually about 200 calories. Typically I cook 2 oz of pasta and my husband and I split it, meaning its only an extra 100 calories. If you've got some kind of chunky sauce that's probably…

Taco salad: Lettuce mix, mexican corn, onions, mushrooms, black olives, cut up heated black bean and corn morningstar patty, dollop of guacamole, salsa.

This has happened to me. I went out to lunch once and then got roped into dinner too. Not only was it waayyy too much food, it was way too much sodium. This is most likely the cause of that hungover feeling since a hangover is essentially dehydration. I knocked back a TON of water and felt remarkably better afterward. Not…

Chicken Roll-Ups. There is NO exact recipe for this, because possibilities are endless and depend entirely upon your taste. First, you take a chicken breast and pound it till its flat. Fill with veggies and cheese. A couple of examples: Italian: mushrooms onion, mozzarella, spinach Greek: kalamatta olives, spinach, feta,…

OMG, THIS. I'm SOOOO sick of self-righteous judgments about if I drink a diet coke or resort to some Healthy Choice lunches during the week. Clean eating isn't for everyone and I will forever preach that moderation is key.
-
Log it and don't let crap be your whole diet. I measure out jelly bellies, but I damn sure still eat them.
-
I don't buy this. The only explanation I've really gotten on diet coke making you gain weight is that it makes you crave other sweet food. So..... its Diet Coke's fault if you eat it? I don't know. I'm just saying, I've lost almost 90 lbs since starting, I'm in maintenance and toning up mode and I've drank diet soda the…

One omelet: 1/2 cup Whites Only filled with Fresh spinach, sauteed onion and mushrooms (in Pam), a couple of sliced grape tomatoes, and half a serving of crumbled goat cheese. Seasoned with salt-free cajun seasoning. And one 90-calorie sugar free chocolate muffin top. Coffee with unsweetened Silk almond milk.
-
General advice on getting there: Don't go up all at once. You'll shock your system, which has a much lower metabolism right now than it will need for maintenance calories. Go up a little at a time until you find the calorie intake that allows you to maintain. My best maintenance is actually around 50-100 calories a day…

I'm going soon as well. My plan is that we're going to eat breakfast from some stuff we bring and keep in the hotel, lunch wherever we are, and dinner (hopefully) usually from stuff we bring into the hotel as well. All I can suggest is not to let it ruin your vacation. Relax, have a good time and if, like me, you normally…

Money. Seriously, a lot of money. Last year my office's Biggest Loser Competition had an unprecedented amount of money in the pot (over $300). So, knowing I was pretty fluffy, I got in on it to try and win some money and lose a few. After that initial sign-up and my competitive streak kicked in I noticed a lot of physical…

Well, it certainly did not solve ALL of my problems, but it feels very good to be in the place I am now. Sometimes I feel worse about my body than I did before, but in reality I know its only because I'm more critical and expect more from myself. I feel better - I have more energy and generally more fun. I feel like I'm…

Cupcakes! I make cupcakes using pillsbury sugar free devil's food cake mix. Replace the oil with no sugar added apple sauce, and use egg whites instead of eggs. Mix it all up it should make about 22 or 23 cupcakes - I never manage to squeeze out 24. For topping, mix up sugar free pudding mix with one cup of milk and one…
