  • For a while I was good at not picking but I've gotten back in the habit of doing it, ugh. I either log my bites as 50 calories each or weigh it all out. I'm trying very hard to do the latter more than the former because it gets me to stop and think about what I'm putting in my mouth before I actually do it.
  • I have an iced mocha with whole milk and no whip a couple of times a week. I keep it in the fridge and drink it over the course of a few hours, it's a nice treat :) I wish I liked the 'skinny' syrup but the aftertaste just doesn't agree with me.
  • Hi! I have two boys, 2 and 5, and in the past year I've learned how to take care of myself again as well as my family. I gained 50lbs with each of my pregnancies, although fortunately I managed to get most of that off between the first and the second. Breastfeeding didn't do anything for my weight loss with my older son,…
  • I'm 31 with a kid of my own in school and it seems they are more aware of allergies, but how they deal with it is definitely varies. For example other schools in the district have a blanket peanut ban regardless of whether an allergy is present or not, while my son's school does it on a room-by-room basis. In preschool,…
  • I use a cheap metal reusable Thermos bottle, drink when I'm thirsty, and refill with tap water when needed. I used to use a large glass until we got a cat as she likes to jump up on the counter and drink out of glasses...
  • I had surgery at the beginning of February (knee) and am just starting to eat at a deficit again. A couple of weeks after the surgery I began tracking again and started losing weight, even though I was eating at maintenance, so I upped my calories and maintained until last week. My body definitely needed more fuel than…
  • You can dice onions and freeze them for easy use in recipes like soups. I like to stick an onion, sliced and sprinkled with garlic powder, in the oven until it's all crispy and can just eat the whole thing.
  • Ditto. I generally have a small breakfast and a mid-morning snack.
  • I've been noticing quite a few labels (possibly a Canadian thing?) don't specify whether the serving amount is dry or cooked. From a quick look in my pantry I have pasta, rice, cornmeal, lentils, and oats that don't state it's an uncooked measurement.
  • Today I had a steak fajita salad. Spinach, broccoli slaw, cucumbers, tomatoes, salsa, yogurt, lime juice, corn, roasted peppers and onions, steak, lots of sriracha sauce.
  • I snuck sushi into a theatre once during my wild and crazy youth, this ultimately ended up being a mistake since I accidentally ate the entire glob of wasabi in one go...
  • I'm 31 and have two boys, 2 and 5. I was down to 133 but hurt my knee a couple of weeks ago and had surgery (meniscus tear) a little over a week ago, so currently I'm maintaining (and just getting back to tracking today after a hiatus). Being on crutches with small children has been a challenge... I have one more surgery…
  • Well, I had my first knee surgery on Friday (torn meniscus) and have another one coming up in a month (ACL reconstruction). Surgeon says no sports for a year and I am totally devastated. I'm also definitely feeling the mood-related effects of no exercise as I used to get in a good hour or so a day on the treadmill. Ugh.
  • I grew up with leafy garden lettuces and hated them, but in my case it was a texture issue as well as a taste one. Now I shred my lettuce and get creative with 'salady' foods that I enjoy eating, rather than just lettuce and tomatoes.
  • I eat a lot of taco salads/burrito bowls and just use some plain yogurt and salsa as the dressing.
  • Apparently the roasted chickpeas I've been eating are gluten free. You can roast them yourself or I got a bag of The Good Bean brand from Costco when they were on sale. They taste like round little chips!
  • You'll notice that in my response I said "with exercise" I'm able to lose at that amount. I do lots of cardio entirely so that I can eat more than I would be able to otherwise (well also it makes me feel awesome). I don't see how it's 'bragging,' I just like to eat, so I do what I need to do to eat what I want. Without…
  • Thanks everyone! I did make sure to lower my activity to 'sedentary' as well as setting it to maintenance, which is about 200 calories less than I normally eat when active and losing weight, blegh. Sadly I don't have a gym membership but I have an appointment with my doctor and am going to make sure to get in with a…
  • With exercise I was losing 1lb/week at 1600-2000 calories/day. I'm 5'4" and down to my last 10 or so pounds.
  • I count it all because I'd rather over-estimate than under-estimate when it comes to something like oil.
  • I've had my Flex for almost two years and I love it! It's definitely gotten me moving more than I did before I had it. I'm currently averaging about 18k steps/day.
  • I've taken to just putting whatever I'd normally eat on its own on a salad. Chili? On a salad. Stew? On a salad. Soup? ...well, maybe not soup.
  • I have an evening snack every night that I log every morning to make sure I move enough to work it in!
  • I'd go with the gym since if I don't meal prep for the week I have easy options for meals ready to go anyway, using frozen veggies and such. My pantry overfloweth.
  • Today I had peanut butter and jam on a slice of homemade whole wheat bread and cottage cheese with some fruit on it. I also made my breakfast for the next few mornings, a crustless egg quiche with tons of veggies. I used this recipe but didn't bother satueeing the onions, subbed cottage cheese for the cheddar, halved the…
  • I live in a land-locked city most of the time, but when I go to the coast? Sushi heaven! I could eat salmon all day long...
  • I keep a tiny bowl on my scale and just plop in whatever before I eat it, if I'm being nibbly.
  • I love leftovers for breakfast. This morning I had leftover bean chilli with a sprinkle of parmesan - yum! Otherwise lately I've been making giant stir fries for breakfast. Frozen stir fry vegetable blend, broccoli slaw, and whatever other veggies I feel like cutting up, cooked in the wok until almost done, then I add two…
  • Although chips are delicious they and crackers are my current Kryptonite, so instead I slice a cucumber up really thinly for dipping. I once read a raw vegan blog or cookbook (can't remember which) that talked about using pieces of romaine hearts to dip and that you "won't miss chips at all!" I did not find this to be the…
