Oh, massive sympathies. It's awful isn't it! In my experience the only thing you can do for your body is rest, drink water, curl up with a hot water bottle and wait! Getting back on track isn't easy. I always think I can have just one day off and, in reality, I just can't. It always leads to a week or two of bingeing. But,…

I used to be anorexic. To be honest though, I still have an eating disorder, it's just a more functional-able with, 'sensible' type. So not sure if I'm the kind of person you're looking for advice from but feel free to add me if you want. I'm working on getting lots of protein and being at least 80% 'real' unprocessed…

I would love it if this were true! Not scientific enough to know if it is or isn't. But liking the idea!

I'm a terrible 'calorie saver'. I definitely reverse the 'breakfast like a King' thing. Breakfast is usually either nothing, a pear or some berries.
-
Are you very short or petite? Maybe 1400 is too much, though I doubt it. Or maybe you're underestimating what you're eating? Do you exercise?
-
I don't know if it works but I have a colleague who's going to try this thing called SlimSip. It's a 9 calorie drink from Boots which has got a load of fibre in that is supposed to expand in your stomach and fill you up. You take it half an hour before meals and it's supposed to mean you only eat half the amount. £20 for…

Mine's open. It's not very exciting though!

If your weight is healthy and you are healthy then you don't need to concern yourself with what anyone else thinks.
-
I could never do this. I always eat really late. I'm rarely home before 10pm so tend to eat my dinner then. Plus the thought of being able to eat before bed makes it easier to not eat during the day.
-
I would compensate the next day personally. You body doesn't know when a 24 hour period is so averaging out over a few days isn't a problem.

I know, it's scary isn't it! Particularly with fruit I find. I weigh most things but I'm never able to do everything (lunch at work etc) and I'm always confused re cooked and uncooked weight. I just make sure that my total is between 900 and 1000 cals and assume that, in reality, it's going to be near the 1200 mark. That…

Yes, it would work. Doesn't make it healthy but you already know that.
-
Mine's open. Can't see any reason for it to be secret.
-
Interesting. Thanks. The layout doesn't seem that different to me, I wonder why it drove so many people away.

It's very unlikely that you are in starvation mode. Many say it's a myth anyway. Even if it's real, it can't stop or reverse your weight loss, just slow it. Otherwise, anorexia would be a mystery wouldn't it! The average anorexic eats 800 calories a day. They still lose weight.

I absolutely love it (as long as it's chilled). Some days I get a good 25% of my calorie intake from it - it's heavy, filling water! I can do a full day of dance classes just drinking that and not feel tired or hungry at all. Miracle stuff. I worry a little about the added sugar, although it claims there isn't a lot, but I…
-
I'm not concerned about sugar as such but I have absorbed the messages about the 'evils' of fruit juice to the point where I won't drink it. I'm thinking that coconut water is different but not sure if that's just the advertising.

I want to move to LA now!

In my experience if you don't eat enough you lose weight. Seems like simple common sense. Only of MFP have I heard people claim that they are gaining weight because they aren't eating! However, if you don't eat you will lose muscle along with your fat and end up like me - thin but struggling to get through an hour's gym…

I don't! I save quite a lot of my calories for just before bed (in fact more often than not I don't get time for dinner until 10/10.30pm). I can't sleep if I don't eat before bed. It's not hunger that keeps me awake, I don't know why it is. I just toss and turn for hours.
-
Yes but I'm mostly amateur if that isn't a dirty word for you! :D I teach drama/dance and direct shows but my own performing and dancing is just amateur.
-
^^ funny thing is I can look back at myself at 18 and think exactly that - I was thin, what was I worrying about! Thank you so much for all the advice, I've got a lot of looks to try out. And to everyone who has said (nicely or otherwise!) that I don't need to worry because of my picture - well, it's a good and carefully…

elyelyse - I have been considering a spray tan but I'm a bit nervous of going orange or it going wrong. Maybe I'll brave it though, I definitely agree than a tan helps you feel slimmer. And yes, you're totally right about the trip and my attitude - totally self absorbed that's my problem! :p That picture is 2 years old but…

Thank you for all the recommendations, I'll do some shopping around

MyChocolate - thank you, I am looking at Board shorts on ebay now - sometimes though I think that when something sits on the knee like that it makes the calves look even fatter somehow. But probably better than the thigh on show. Arghhh, I think I'm overthinking thise. Magdaloonie - thank you for your kind words. I don't…

7kg is only about 14 pounds right? So, even if you have your MFP settings to lose just half a pound a week you'll easily do that in 7-8 months. Just do exactly what the computer tells you and do some exercise to build your lean muscle mass and you'll be absolutely fine.

Thanks for the thoughts. I suppose there probably is a lot in the fact that people eat more when it is there and free. I'm kind of the opposite, I don't eat much at all in social situations I prefer to 'save' my calories for when I can 'enjoy' them in front of the tv or with a book or the internet. I don't like 'wasting'…

You could get a barbell and weights for a reasonable price on ebay or even on amazon (I think all my weights equipment cost less than £35). Then go on youtube and you can do whole body pump calsses, either by searching for individual tracks or there are full lessons up there. Or you could go running outside. Inside you…

Sorry to go against hte positive vibe but I'm assuming you want a range of responses. Personally, I can't see any good in Zumba at all. I've tried 4 different instructors in 3 different locations because I was so excited when I first heard about it and because so many poeple have said how good it is. I found 2 of the…
