  • If you are 5'8' then 120 to 135 lbs is too low. I am pretty slim and athletic and am 5'6 and 130 lbs. They say add 5 lbs for each inch. So, you would be very healthy, fit at about 140 lbs. And be happy NOW . You have accomplished a lot already. Don't wait to be happy later when you reach your goal.
  • Dannon Oikos fruit on the bottom. Plain Greek yogurt is fantastic to use in place of sour cream on tacos, soups, etc.
  • Wonderful!
  • If you are just getting started, you may need a couple of days for your stomach to "shrink." Beyond that, I find a handful of almonds (10 to 20) takes the edge off my hunger. Or 4 to 6 oz of low fat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt helps. Better to eat a couple of hundred extra calories and stop the gnawing hunger or put it…

  • run a few miles. Or what I do is take one night a week off. On that day, i eat/drink what I want within reason. That still gives me 6 days a week to hit the mark.
  • :flowerforyou: At the age of 43, my sister quit smoking. She has been smoke free for 10 years. And she did it at at time of upheaval - bad marriage, divorce, etc. You can do this. BELIEVE. Focus on your motivation, whatever or whoever it is. When you feel your brain going to a negative place, fill it with positive thoughts.
  • As Atticus Finch from "To Kill a Mockingbird" says, "It's not time to worry yet, Scout." So I would just focus on a healty recovery. Do that and I am certain all will fall into place over time. BTW, very exciting about your recovery. We all have issues we struggle with. The only thing that matters is how we address our…
  • eggs are great. You can cook them so many ways and enjoy them and not add calories. And they are high in protein and filling. Toast 100% whole wheat Thomas English muffin. Top with eggs overy easy or scambled. Top that the eggs with a couple of Ts of salsa. You can also cut a slice of low fat cheese in half and put it…
  • I like your advice. You are right.
  • Just eat a healthy diet in about the right recommended percentages of carbs, proteins and low/good fats.
  • I am so sorry you are heartbroken. How about just walking in the neighborhood instead? Especially if the weather is pretty, but if rainy, grab an umbrella. Walk 1 mile quickly = 100 calories = about 15 minutes. Another thing that helps if you are feeling down is to do something nice for someone else. Do a favor for a…
  • Congrations. Step #1 - admitting you have a problem to yourself -- is one of the hardest steps to take. Many people cannot get to step #1. Step #2, tell your best friend -- your husband -- what you just told strangers. He loves you more than anyone in the world. If you cannot spit out the words, then write them on paper…
  • Is this really the same person?! All of your hard work and persistence paid off. And never forget we cannot see your "insides", only your "outsides." Your insides have to look even more beautiful -- great blood sugar level, great cholesterol levels, nice low blood pressure. Consider how high a quality of life you have…
  • You should NOT weigh less than you do. I will be blunt. If you obsess too much about this at this low weight you are at, you may need to consider psychological issues about weight. BE HELTHY. EAT HEALTHY. EAT ENOUGH.
  • I am right there with you. I am 51 and have had to slow creep up in weight by 10 to 15 pounds but more importantly the slow creep in the wrong direction on blood numbers (sugar, cholesterol, etc.). Nothing real bad but if I kept the slow creep in the wrong direction, when I got to be 60, I would have a real problem Good…
  • get the dressing on the side and add only a little. You may cut a lot that way. If you get a sandwhich, get it with grilled (not fried or breaded chicken). Eat the protein and skip the bread, or only eat half the bread. Bring your own apple or fruit to finish things off and fill up. Drink water or diet soda.
  • Don't be discouraged. Cut your calories a little if you are going to burn a little less. But the good news is that when you CHANGE things up now and then, you help to restart your metabolism for the better. When I eat pretty lean and exercise a lot and do this a while, I tend to loose less weight. I found that little…
  • I assume their will be adequate water/gatorade stations. Don't carry water. You have the luxury of someone giving it to you and it is so fun not to have to carry your own. You need to pull to the far side of the course when you take fluid and gradually slow to a walk so another runner does not run over you. And stay over…

  • I made this recipe over the weekend. It is HEAVENLY. It is a recipe I will save and make again for myself and for guests. Here are some things I noticed. There was extra filling, so I set it aside and we ate it alone after chilled in refrigerator. it was DELICIOUS, like a really yummy tasting chocolate peanut butter…
  • I used good old aluminum foil and waited til cookies were nearly all of the way cool. Peel off carefully as they like to stick.
  • TWO THUMBS UP! I have made these cookies two times in two weeks. They are amazing because they have such an intense, chocolate flavor. If you do not over cook them they are a little crunch outside and fudgey inside. I have used slivered almonds (which I first toast in a fry pan) instead of hazelnuts since my grocery store…
  • If you are allergic to some but not all nuts, I just discovered Sun Butter. VERY YUMMY. It is like peanut butter but made from sunflower seeds instead fo peanuts. This is a good source of good fats and proteins. Almonds are great. Avocado. Olive oil. walnut oil, avocdo oil, sesame oil. Use these oils some appropriately and…
  • Almonds are one of the best foods you can eat. They are high in protein and other nutrients and fiber. They really take the edge off my hunger for a mid-afteroon snack along with a small piece of fruit. 1 oz is about 20 almonds or about 180 calories. Check the MFP on this but this is about right. So you have to actually…
  • Wow. You look so HEALTHY and "hot." Way to go. Now keep it up as a life style, not a "diet." It is a lifestyle for healthy living that will make you continue to be active, healthy, and "hot" when you get to be an old 51 year old women like me. Keep it up!!
  • The sweet tooth weanig is a process, and it does not necessarily happen overnight. Keep plugging away at it. The more you eat more naturally sweet things, the more it will help. Trust me as I too have a sweet tooth. So if you want something sweet a handful or raisins or dried cheeries is yummy and real sweet. How about…
  • Who cares what others think? Also it's none of your business what others think. Many will think nothing at all about you as they are thinking about other things. Others will think positive things and may or may not express it. Others may think negative things. So what. You are not the Thought Police issuing them a ticket.…
