Bad week. My grandma has been in the hospital and had surgery yesterday. No workout but I did eat well and got a greek salad for dinner. I am a little lost on everything. Is there a thread that states what everything is roadblocks etc. I am doing the no sugar.

Amazing work!

This is a good challenge for me as I need to cut out the sugar. Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday - Sunday -

Hi Team 7. Excited to start the challenge!

You can alter your body to some extent. I am pear shaped and naturally tiny upper body. Since weight lifting I have added mass to my back, shoulders and arms. I catch my reflection in the mirror sometimes and am amazed by my upper body. Lifting weights does shape your body. It will increase your metabolism so you should be…

Started off bad. Had to take my car in this morning so I skipped my normal breakfast. Having a protein shake and apple which is my normal snacks. Going to have to figure out snacks later.

I have gone two days without chocolate or wine.

Please add me in.

HI I am Trish. I am 48 with two boys (12 and 15). I want to lose 10 lbs before my vacation to Costa Rica in June. Having a hard time being consistent with work stress, kid stress and life in general.
-
I am giving up wine again. I gave it up for January and then had some last weekend. I liked the no alcohol thing for January so doing a repeat.
-
I did the dry January thing as well and giving thought to how I will drink in the future. I have not drank so far in February.

I went from at least 5 cans of diet coke a day to zero last fall. I did not lose weight if anything gained a little as I missed the sweet taste so ate something sweet. I could not moderate with diet coke (ie one a day). I am staying off of them as the amount I was drinking is not healthy.

I would like to join. I have lacked willpower like crazy lately. I would be happy with 8 lbs in 8 weeks. I need to stop the stress eating. I think for 8 weeks: 1. no chocolate except chocolate flavored protein powder 2. no wine -ugh 3. run at least 20 miles a week 4. quit eating junk I do not even like.

Heavy deadlifts tighten up your neck a lot. My sister noticed the change in my neck.

Take the baby for a walk. Lots of DVDs you can do at home while your baby is sleeping.

I did the Dallas Beast in 2014. Plan on getting my trifecta in 2015 by doing the sprint and super in Austin and the beast in Dallas again. They are fun and challenging.

I am in!

I hold my breath while bench pressing. Thanks for the reminder!

No to the glove. From Medhi: Gloves Kill Grip Strength – thicker bars are harder to grip. Gloves add inches to the bar which will kill your grip strength on pulling exercises like Deadlifts, Rows or Pullups. And if you can’t hold it, you can’t lift it. Gloves Screw Your Technique – the thickness of the gloves will make it…

Anyone going to be at the Tough Mudder in Dallas on October 5th? It will be my first mudder.

Google starting strength or stronglifts. These are both great programs for new lifters. The few pounds gained is water weight as your muscles will retain water when you lift. If you continue eating at a deficit you will not gain weight.

Whateves..free weight section is full of testosterone and can be intimidating. It makes it easier for me if I don't feel like people are staring. I don't care if guys check out my *kitten* while squatting or dead lifting but for now this is just too weird to be stared at while doing hip thrusts. If I saw anyone at my gym…

Negatives and flexed arm holds at the top. Also if you do not do them already, lat pull downs. Once you get the first rep, more come pretty easily.

I am doing a lot like you. At one gym they have a ladies area and I will take the preloaded barbell into the area and do it on a bench. On Saturday I was at a different gym so I found a corner with a bench and did it. I have seen girls do it in the squat rack which I will go to eventually when I feel less weird about it.…

If you are new to weight lifting, it is possible to gain muscle while in a deficit. I have lost fat and gained muscle ie stayed same weight and gotten smaller. I did barbell hip thrust on Saturday and my glutes were killing me afterwards.

I did body pump for a while. I had no upper body strength either and did see some muscle growth. I got to a point though where I stalled. I then switched to lifting heavy. I hate to say it but I had to relearn a lot of things. They teach you to not squat low, my OHP was really bad before I got with a trainer. I would…

I agree with the two posts above...nobody really cares, almost everyone who thinks anything will think you are awesome and if anyone thinks anything else they are a douche and you should not care! I know when I see anyone overweight kicking butt and working hard I admire them as I know physically and emotionally it is…

I lose top down. I get abs way before I am happy with my thighs. I lose a little on the bottom in the beginning but most of it comes off at the end.

I am thinking of doing the Dallas Beast on 11/1. It is about 12 weeks out. Anybody planning on doing this one or done it in the past?
-
I am hoping to do the spartan workout in Austin on September 13. Anybody else going? I am thinking of doing Dallas and won't commit until after the workout as I have no idea of what to expect as I have never done any of these races.
