parkrun! 3.1 miles today
-
Think of the sweat! :noway:
-
5.3 miles this morning...should have done 6 really, I wussed out :grumble:
-
Maybe combine the two - do 2 or 3 days a week of the 10K app and run a 5K each week? I did the app at the same time as running a 5K on Saturday mornings and it seemed to go OK.

4.9 miles of intervals today...
-
Brrr! 10 chilly miles today.
-
parkrun 3.1 today!
-
Just seen this! GOOD LUCK!
-
4 miles of hill repeats to start me off!

I'm here to maintain my weight now that I've reached my weight-loss goal, and chat to the like-minded runners and others I've met on here...I don't log because I don't feel I need to, having maintained successfully for quite a few months now. But sorry...no shirtless pics from me, I'm afraid!

Depends what results you're looking for! If you're just focused on losing weight, running has a great cardio burn. If you want to tone up, running will help with that too. If you want to become a runner...yup, C25K will get you started. I did the programme last summer (didn't run at all before that) and just kept…

So people throw paint at you while you run? :noway:
-
What is a color run? I see them mentioned on here quite often, is it a US thing?
-
Good stuff! I found running longer helped with speed too - I ran my first 5K race last October and worked up from there - 2 10Ks, a 10-mile, assortment of 5Ks in the middle and then the half!
-
Definitely run outside if you can, it gives you more control over your speed and means you go at a speed you can manage, not what you think you should be doing. It's less faff with all the intervals too. And if you want to run 5K races, training outside will be better prep. Good luck and enjoy!

8 miles this morning...bit of an effort to get round, but YESSSSSS! Made it! :glasses:
-
Hi Cooriander, can I come in for 70 this time please? Many thanks!
-
parkrun today - yup, it's 3.1!
-
I wasn't fat...I was big-boned!

Just had a look at your diary and I don't know how you can stand up...it looks like you're eating a very small amount of food (although it's quite refined carb-y). I'd suggest much more fruit and veg and more low-fat dairy. I would be rumbling all day if I tried to live on the amount you're eating! How much are you…

/\/\/\/\/\ What they all said above is great advice, plus...keep doing it. Book yourself into a race a few weeks after you're due to finish the programme so that you keep going out and running. My question is 'what do you define as successful?' Do you just want to do the programme, run a 5K, and then move on to something…

6 miles today...edging ever closer!
-
Wow! Two halves in the same month? Respect!

I think it gets easier once you get into new habits. I was super strict when I started because I had got to the point where I needed to draw a line! Also, find some exercise that you really enjoy which has a high burn. I run, I did Couch 2 5K last summer. I work full time and have 2 kids, so I used to get up at six and…

Thank you! I think I just want to do some more races - I'm thinking about another half in November - and then see what next year brings. I've only been running for a year so I'm still working out what I like. I didn't expect to enjoy the half as much as I did. I don't think I have a marathon in me though - fitting in the…

Once your body's more used to running, the taking rest days thing can relax a bit (I've been known to do 2 5Ks in a day, and I usually run twice in a weekend, one 5K and one long run), but at first I think the rest days are as important as the run days. I used to HURT!
-
Races are different from training runs...I get race nerves. The first race I did, I had stomach issues - I did a 10K and had rotten cramps, had to stop and drink water and eat jelly babies at the halfway drink station! I carried on but didn't make my target time, I was 2 minutes over and I could have kicked myself. I did…
-
Just keep at it. I did C25K last summer and the first time I went out I JUST managed the 8 runs - and for the last run I would probably have walked it faster! Sometimes you'll have bad days, stepping up the length of time you run may nearly kill you, you will run up a small hill and feel like dying...BUT it is so worth it!…

Nice 9.5 miles today on the road.

Lovely parkrun this morning, 3.1 miles today. Just noticed I have 26.2 miles to run before the end of the month! :ohwell:
