5Ks and running races generally are awesome! I suggest you run with him to train but don't pressure him to enter the race, just make it clear that you will be doing the turkey trot and ask him to come along and cheer you on if he doesn't want to run the race. You will have the best time - runners are so friendly - and I…

My job doesn't allow for free exercise either - I'm always either sat at a desk or driving to a meeting...where I sit at a table. I did Couch to 5K and now I run around 20-25 miles a week. That takes care of the exercise.

6 miles today, nice to get a run in in the light!

It's OK, sometimes it's just a hard run day...as tajour said, try again. No such thing as a fail unless you let it stop you running. I had some shocking runs during C25K and keeping at it is the thing. Ran my first half marathon earlier this month (not that I keep mentioning it or anything ahem  )

8 muggy miles this morning...and we're over the hump!

Yeah, I had a cold part way through and took 5-7 days off. In fact I think that happened twice! I finished C25K last autumn...and last weekend I ran my first half marathon! What I would say is listen to your body - take it easy when you come back to running, and if you need to scale it back a bit, or put in an extra rest…

Well done! Watch out, you'll be eyeing up loooooonger races before you know where you are!

parkrun! 3.1 miles today.

6 miles today - first run since Sunday's half!

I'd say just breathe when you feel you need to and don't think about it too much - If you're really short of breath, maybe slow down a bit. One thing I read was to try and vary which foot you breathe in on, as apparently you strike harder when you breathe in, so if you always breathe in and strike with the same foot, it…

Half marathon today! 13.1 miles

Another 3 yesterday - last run before tomorrow's half!

5 miles today...brain and body fail to compute 'easy jog'...

It's the beginning of September running! 6.5 miles today - should have been 8 but someone forgot the nights are drawing in and that they would need to be off the trail before sunset! :embarassed:

Hi Cooriander, can I rejoin for 80 miles this month please? Could be interesting as it's transition to big school for my younger one this month, but hopefully running will keep me sane :frown:
-
WAY too hot! 4 miles today.
-
The heat thing makes a lot of sense - my first summer running properly and I wondered why I just haven't been getting the speeds I'd normally do quite easily. Thanks!

5 *pant* miles of *pant* in*pant*tervals today *collapses in heap*

11 miles today - owwww, blisters!

Hi! I did B210K last autumn and the last run of W1D1 nearly killed me - couldn't understand it at all! I think it's going back to the intervals...but it does get easier and I didn't find running for longer too hard. Running my first half marathon next month!

Lovely sunset 6 today!

4.3 miles. Hill repeats. Urgg.
-
That's a great achievement - especially in really hot weather! Fantastic prep for your half too - well done!

Shower and stretch, big glass of water with a rehydration tablet in it, cup of tea, big breakfast! No chance of a nap in my household!

8 steady miles today, just glad to get round!

Very warm and struggly parkrun today - 3.1 miles

Do you reckon anyone has asked dads when they find time to work out? I tend to run evenings after work in the week (no more than 1 hour) and then up early on weekends (1 5K, 1 long run). We both work full time and have 2 kids (6&4). OH now wants to run too and has signed up for a 10K - and the kids love coming to races! We…

Off the blocks! 5 miles today.
