So basically I should just get out of the way?

Google says it's a Chilean rose tarantula. Apparently they can shoot barbed hairs into your eyes... I'm SO glad now that I stopped :p

Cordoba, Argentina :) I saw a mountain lion once. Luckily I was on my bike :D

Thanks, some great replies that make a whole lot more sense than the 'you are how you are' standpoint :)

This is what I think; determination is at least 50% of the battle... but how can it possibly be determined what is 'genetic' and what 'learned' or something we decide to do? I think I'm genetically 'rewarded'; I LOVE to eat, but losing weight is not all that hard and I don't have 'awkward' areas of fat. Then again, I was…

Gosh, aren't YOU friendly? NO, of course I don't. I merely used Penn and Teller as a springboard for healthy debate. I guess that's a bit of a stretch for you.....? Facepalm is just sooooooo witty.

This is the thing... how are 'genetics' determined? How does someone who is really REALLY determined to make a difference to their lifestyle to be 'restricted' by genetics. It seems to me all to easy to say "Ahhh well, that person is geneticaly programmed to be lean and muscular" How do you even know that until you try??

Rub down with a nail file :)

I don't really eat them back, but I do allow myself to go over my calorie goal sometimes and I find it balances out. If you see what I mean? :)

When I started running I was cycling to work. Since I stopped cycling (but still run) the knee pain has virtually disappeared. It would seem that cycling is the issue for me.
-
Thanks :) Should I continue to count the calories or stop counting from when I stop actually running. Took me nearly 30 mins to get back to normal today, but this is VERY rare.

Hi, yes, I'll have to up my water intake a LOT!! Not sure about the pee; haven't looked! Hadn't thought about the sweat just evaporating. Thanks :)
-
Thank you! Great advice! I've avoided cycling for ages, because of the discomfort and just started again this summer to go to work, but with a decent bike, I might actually start enjoying it :)
-
Thanks, I might try that! Anything that helps the pain!! I've started taking glucosamine, but have no idea how long it'll take to kick in.
-
Very likely that it HAS got everything (or a lot) to do with the bike as I got it very cheaply, second hand, and just use it to go to work. I'm not that keen on cycling, probably because it hurts!! I should probably get myself 'fitted' than continue hating cycling ;)
-
That's very interesting, Thank you :)

My bike is really old. I got it second hand for the summer. Won't need it after September. It didn't occur to me to get it sized! That could definitely be a factor
-
I suspect it might be more about flexion than the actual joint because I have to flex the knee much more when cycling. Could be wrong of course :)

Yes, Dr's next stop! I think I might just be doing too much too soon and will take it back a bit, see if things ease up.

Yes, I heel strike and also over prolate slightly. This was noted when I got the shoes. It doesn't hurt when I run, but it does when I walk afterwards and it REALLY hurts if I walk barefoot. In good shoes with arch support, it's much better. Will be gutted if it's the shoes as they were veeeery pricey :p
-
Brilliant, thanks :)

OMG, I'm so glad it's not just me!! Huge relief!!

I used to log my stable duties (when only a few hours a day; it's now ALL I seem to do ;) ) As 'gardening'. Not sure that's much help though :)
-
I'll have a look :)

Pushing heavy wheelbarrows, carrying 20l buckets of water 2 at a time....I certainly work HARD some of the time. The rest of the time I hardly ever sit down.
-
It certainly feels like it!! ;) I'm keeping up with 3 men and they find it hard graft as well

Same here. Would like to add that EDs are psychological and yes, you do think and do the most insane things, even though you're aware that they ARE bonkers. It's very sad :(

A former boyfriend of mine was a pro tennis player. Obviously VERY fit and if he had a soda before a match it was diet because he didn't want the sugar (he gave me a much better explanation, but of course I don't remember it now) so there are perfectly valid reasons for drinking sugar-free that don't include counting…
