I love love love spin classes. Such a killer workout. I agree with everyone above. Also, bring a towel (to mop up your sweat) and I always bring 2 water bottles with me to class because sometimes one isn't enough. Have fun!

Funniest thread I have read in a long time! My vote is for Shatner but Robin would be a close second :)

You are in the right. You are paying someone for a service and it's like anything else, they need to be mindful of your needs. If you went to a hairdresser for a trim and she took off 6 inches, you wouldn't go back. A good trainer will be mindful of your limitations and find alternative ways to achieve the same results…

Here we go March... Sat March 1 - 3.9km treadmill Mon March 3 - 15km bike Thurs March 6 - 12km bike

I too get shin splints if I do too much too fast. You have to let them heal and then progress your running very slowly (volume wise), ease off each time they flare up. Over time, your body will adapt to this new exercise. Any cardio is great, and cross training is even better so you aren't as prone to injuries but you MUST…

Don't know if this would be related to your issue but sometimes cramps can be caused by dehydration. I know you only got a cramp in one leg but worth looking to see if this is part of the issue and evaluating that you are staying well hydrated.

I agree with everyone above - if its that late in the season and the water is warm, a wetsuit can wait until you know you are committed to the sport and want to shell out the cash - I'm a decent swimmer and actually prefer when its warm enough to do without the wetsuit because I breathe better and have better range of…

I'm also a huge fan of the foam roller - I can tell when my IT band starts to get tight and I get knee pain. When I start rolling out again, the knee pain goes away and the IT band loosens up. Kills but worth it. You might want to check out what is causing the IT band stupidity - mine stems from weak glutes which thows off…

Your post really struck a cord with me. For many years I battled disordered eating, disordered body image and bulimia. My inner voice constantly told me that I wasn't any good, I was a failure, I wasn't worth anything. I kept thinking that losing weight would be my magic ticket. With the help of counselling, I was able to…

I think you are right - 800m in a 25m pool 32 lengths (if you count there as 1 and back as 2) or 16 laps (if you count there and back as 1). It takes me about 15minutes to do 800m and 30min to do 1.5km so check your counting again, it might not be that bad. Otherwise, when I started swimming, I focused on being as…
"There are good answers and they're really all dependent on the individual athlete's needs. Some athletes have a surplus of power, but don't have a cardio base for $h!t. While others have base for days but no power to create speed." quoted from above (somehow I lost the quote box in editing, lol!
Thanks…

I totally agree... I can't give up my tablespoon of brown sugar on my oatmeal. I also throw in some dried cranberries for an extra kick. It's all about balance. I've tried some of the other alternatives but they just don't feel as real and as comforting as a bit of brown sugar!
