  • Protein, protein, protein. Reduce the carbs. Keep the fats at 25-30%, but your protein should be at least the same % or higher than your carbs. Should do the trick. For example breakfast, saute kale with garlic in a teaspoon of coconut oil. Add 3/4 cup egg whites and one whole egg. Top with 2 tbs of low fat feta cheese.…
  • I posted earlier about only burning 250 calories during a 40 minute workout. BTW, I did the whole workout, no rests other than if they told you to rest. I am 5'9" and weigh around 145 lbs.
  • I just did one of the Insanity DVD's and finally wore my heart rate monitor, I only burned 250 calories for a 40 minute workout. Rather disappointed in that number. I could have burned 2x that if I had just gone for a 40 minute run.
  • Doesn't sound right to me. If it was Oscar Mayer 98% fat free Deli shaved ham it would only be about 100 calories. What does it have listed for fat content, etc?
  • I agree with riverside: same scale and weigh first thing in the morning. You'll see less fluctuation that way. Now if you actually did not lose weight you might look at portion sizes. I tend to think my portions are smaller than they actually are. When I really pay attention (measure out my cereal and milk for example) I…
  • I do eat more protein than this site gives me each day, and usually eat less fat. I am always short on iron. I am always sure to eat all my extra calories that I work off. If I burn off 300 calories or 1200 calories, I will eat nearly every single one of those. :-) I don't want to lose any muscle!!!! Some of the calories…
  • Hi! I'm training for my first half marathon - it's in just 3 weeks! I have competed in several adventure races (AR) and have my first AR of the year next weekend. I just joined this site and started using it about 2 weeks ago. I'm aiming for just 1 pound a week loss so I don't interfere with all my training. I gained a…
  • If you lose a pound a day, you are going to have a miserable time, give up, and gain it right back. Shoot for no more than 2 pounds a week. Stick with the calories you get for the day, don't starve yourself. I see so many people do this and they end up bigger than before. You need to develop habits you can live with for…
  • I work full time, go to school part time, run 20+ miles a week (that is 200 minutes of running plus travel time), participate in boot camp (another 2 hours a week + travel time), volunteer in two organizations, and have a family. I still manage not to eat out of a vending machine. You have time to cook. You just need to…
  • Chicken fajitas are great. Quick to make too. Just a smear of lite sour cream is about 10 calories. The tortilla shell is ~100 calories, and the chix/pepper filling is ~100 calories. I cook my chicken w/ two tablespoons of low cal Italian Dressing (25 calories) and a tablespoon of chili powder. Then add cooked onions and…
  • Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one. Yesterday was a much better day for me, and I stayed very close to my daily limit. I hope today goes just as well.
  • First off, I applaud you efforts to achieve something. So many people in this world give up before even trying. I am proud of you for working hard and sticking with it. Sometimes things don’t work for us the first few times, but eventually we get there if we never stop trying. Some of the others on here have a great idea,…
  • I'm a scientist. I went to the local university for a couple of years on scholarship, but really hated it. It was too big for me, I felt lost in a sea of students. I quit and worked two jobs, one full time as a bank teller, and part time developing 1 hour film. Both were ok jobs at the time, but didn't pay much. I knew I…
