Not weighing and tracking forever I hope. Don't be too rigid or you'll just set yourself up for failure. I think unless you're competing in bodybuilding competitions or something and need your calories and macros to be down to the T, the goal is to learn what proper portions look like. The goal is to understand how much…

Last time you were on a time crunch. This time, you have all the time to do it right. Doing it right means choosing a moderate calorie goal (TDEE-20%, or aiming to lose 1lb per week.) Doing it right means finding some activity that you LOVE to do, that you crave so it doesn't feel like work, or even if it feels like work,…

Slowly wean yourself off the creamer. Start measuring it when you add it, and just reduce a little every time. Or, start using plain milk and a little bit of sugar. I put about an ounce of half and half into my 20 oz coffee, no sugar, and that's a good balance for me that doesn't break the bank.

Another good quote for those who aren't reading the article:

Absolutely. No one is saying it's one or the other. Sometimes hearing about something awesome my friend has done that I can't do yet gives me motivation to build the skill set to be able to do that one day. What gets me started can very well be extrinsic motivation. What keeps me going is what I already have inside me.

Any other thoughts? Not a popular view, I suppose.

Weight loss isn't linear. It goes up, it goes down, it stays the same for a few days. As long as the over all trend (over months) is downward it's fine.

Exactly this. You have the answer. Apply it!

Undereating and boredom are two huge triggers. As in my story, I got started because I had under-eaten in the beginning of the day. I also used to binge out of boredom or anxiety, so now I have a list of things to do when I am bored. It's all about preparation!

I'm so happy it helped!

You have no way of knowing what they think about, or pay attention to. Don't let assumptions get the best of you. Just focus on yourself.
-
Thanks for the congratulations! To be clear, this thread is so that other binge eaters (especially those who just read forums and don't post) can see that it is possible to overcome this and to stop binges as they are starting!

The good news is, you don't have that much weight to lose. I have similar stats. Lifting weights has done wonderful things for me because I love to do it. Find something that you love and go with it. Set a reasonable weight loss goal (.5lb-1lb a week) so that you can still enjoy the foods you love without being too…

Don't do that. I'm serious. I used to have a similar problem, I'd get home from work, lie in bed as soon as I got home just to relax for a few moments. I'd end up falling asleep or getting too comfortable and I wouldn't get ANYTHING done for the rest of the night. Maybe I'd cook dinner, but more likely order in, no…

Doctors are silly, sometimes. If s/he is basing that purely on the BMI scale, then you may not have to lose 50 pounds. What you may have to do is focus on reducing body fat % and increasing lean mass. You won't lose much on the scale, but your body will look and feel completely different. Do you plan to keep up with…

Good for you! For those who still struggle consider this: If you keep at it you might see results If you give up you definitely don't see results Which is the greater risk?

Truly. So many cliches I wondered if it was a bad troll post. Anyway, OP, if you check out that link you will get some answers. I will say that 10-15 pounds in 5 weeks is not a realistic goal at your current weight and height.

It seems like it saves more money in the long run to treat yourself to a coffee or two to avoid a binge. You still have to pay for the food you binge on at home.

In for over-complicating things!
