  • I'm having that problem right now. We've had a few visitors in the last month and some right now. They all want to eat out somewhere and it's been very tough for me. I'm only supposed to eat around 1200-1300 calories (petite) so eating out at a restaurant is very difficult since even when I order off the 'skinny menu' its…
  • All good advice and you're probably sick of coffee advice but here goes... I started cutting syrups from Starbucks awhile back. I used to drink caramel macchiatos. Instead of 3 syrups I would ask for 2. I didn't notice much difference between 3 and 2 so it was all good. Then 2 pumps seemed too sweet after awhile so I…
  • Way to go! thanks for sharing your progress! Love reading these success stories!
  • dumb questions but … did you use the same scale? …. were you naked both times? I fluctuate by about 3 lbs, and go up a few pounds a couple days before my period. Don't sweat it yet. Weigh yourself in a few days.
  • Ok, I think we have opposite problems (I'm big hips/butt) however I love Ann taylor LOFT jeans. I can't wear junior style jeans, Target jeans, etc. These are the only jeans that fit me other than Lucky jeans. LOFT is worth a try plus they come in petite.
  • Every time I read one of these threads I get in a panic and check my BMR. It says 1300 which is close to 1200. I would think that there are some short people who do ok on 1200, no?
  • I find this thread interesting. I'm 5'2" and 130 lbs. I have a GW of 120. I don't think I could ever be lower than that. I had severe hypermesis and didn't eat for almost 2 months and didn't go below 117. I wonder if age matters in addition to body frame (small boned/larger boned). When I was 20 I weighed 100 lbs and had…
  • I just feel like giving you a hug:flowerforyou: I'm also 5'2". I've been to 2 endos and 2 naturopaths and everyone told me something different. I have a lot of nodules, very swollen thyroid but my numbers are in the 'normal' range so they refuse to treat it. I believe you that you are doing everything you can and not…
  • I'm a relatively new member and these threads leave me feeling so confused. I'm also 5'2", hoping to lose about 15-20 lbs. I'm supposed to eat about 1250 and then I read threads that I'm supposed to eat more. I've heard not to rely on MFP because it tells me to eat 1250 and according to so many people 1200 is bad so…
  • You can add me. I'm your age but I still have one in kindergarten. I'm finding this journey challenging to say the least.
  • Hi, I'm 41 and have a 6 & 8 yr old. Would like to lose 15 pounds but having a hard time because I can't exercise. Would love some motivating friends (and to be one to others) if anyone would like to send a friend request. (Please leave a short message) My mind still thinks I'm 20 but unfortunately my body doesn't. :-(…
  • I've been pescetarian for 20 years. My husband and kids are big meat eaters so I am always looking for ideas for meals to accommodate everyone. I'm going to the allergist next week and am starting to run out of things to eat. Hoping that I won't have to go back to meat since I think it would be very difficult after all…
  • would also love to know what bulking/cutting is?
  • Oh and if anyone with my stats can share their daily calories I would appreciate it. I am not active (injured) and still confused about calories I should be consuming. I've heard its tough for us shorties and we should set our weight loss differently(?)
  • Hi there! I'm 5'2", 41 year old mom Just starting my journey…. again. SW 134 CW 132 GW 120 (we'll see) Can't seem to get under 130. Would love some supportive friends. I've tried losing weight before but give up easily. I tend to do better when I have support and the occasional 'good job'. Feel free to add me!!
  • Thank you! So according to that site with little to no exercise my daily caloric needs are 1593. It says in order to lose weight to subtract 500 but also says not to go under 1200. So basically I need to stay at 1200??? Am I understanding this right?
  • thanks 7allie. My gym does have a pool. I'm a terrible swimmer so I don't actually use it but perhaps I can ask my therapist to give me some exercises to do in the pool.
  • thank you glowgirl. Congrats on your weight loss! Great advice.
  • Thanks. I'm going to consult with my physical therapist on Monday. Maybe she can think of some things that wouldn't impact my injuries.
  • Reading with interest. I too have oral allergy but I also am allergic to all nuts so I get so frustrated when all the diet sites tell me to have apple slices with peanut butter for a snack or a handful of almonds.:noway:
  • Believe me, I don't want to go under 1200. I like food. I was going to the gym and doing what I could (arms) and now I have 'Golfer's elbow'. So frustrating. The elliptical is the only one I can sometimes do if my hips are cooperating which lately they haven't. I'm not giving up..... I want to be ripped some day.…
  • Thanks! I averaged out my calories since some days I'm under and other days I'm over and it looks like my average is closer to 1280 so almost 1300.
  • I feel your pain. I'm 41 and can lose those first 2 pounds and then I stall.... and eventually give up. Because I'm petite those 10 pounds make a huge difference. Would love to not have to donate all my 'old' clothes.
  • Looking for my twin! 5'2" 41 yr old stay at home mom CW 134 GW 120 currently dealing with some injuries so trying my best to lose through what I eat rather than at the gym. I have been a pescetarian for 20 yrs but my family are carnivores so I make no judgements. :-) Looking for supportive friends. I tend to lose focus…
  • Well done!!! You should be so proud of yourself!
  • I just joined recently. I tried this last year but the scale wouldn't budge. I think I gave up to quickly and I didn't have any support so thought MFP might help with that. :-) I'm also 5'2" and my goal weight is 120. Feel free to add me as a friend. I'm still learning how to navigate this site as well.
  • I've been a pescatarian for 25 years. I will never give up fish simply because I'm allergic to all nuts, many seeds, and most fruit. I think part of my weight loss difficulties is that I should have more protein in my diet. Would love to see what others eat.
  • I disagree with the above poster who said internet strangers can't help. Sometimes strangers are the best motivators. My husband lost a lot of weight last year. He credits it to an anonymous nurse that would call him every 2 weeks to ask about his progress (it was a work insurance program where you sign up for calls from a…
