  • Glad I found this thread. I'm 48, 5'2" and 144. I can't get my weight to budge. I've been trying since Jan but I thought I better track really well, weigh food, be consistent in the last few weeks and so far I've lost nothing. :-( I looked back at my MFP to see when I weighed the least and a couple years ago I lost about 2…
  • I've been eating around 1200 for 3 weeks now and doing the same with at least 3 workouts/week and have lost nothing. Because I'm petite (and in mid-life) i'm going to try to stick with the process since I know it can take time but it IS frustrating to not see any movement on the scale
  • Ugh, I find this so depressing. 5'2", mid 40's and I've been eating 1200-1300 calories and the scale hasn't budged. I'm finding 1200 calories challenging. I sure hope I don't have to go down to 1100 to see any movement. Huge congrats on your loss! Incredible to lose that much in 17 months!
  • Thanks everyone. Feeling frustrated and it's nice to hear reassurance that things will get better. I am not at all worried about deficits and exercise at the moment. While it would be nice to have lost some weight before dreaded bathing suit season this puts things in perspective. I just want to be healthy enough to have a…

  • I would love to know which apps you find are most beneficial. I received an apple watch as a gift but other than the little fitness icon guy that tracks my outdoor walks I'm not sure what I should be adding. I use the the one that looks like a target (standing, steps, and activity) everyday to get an idea of how I'm doing…
  • I'm sorry. Just wanted to tell you that I can relate to that feeling of frustration of not being able to exercise. I too have a hip problem, shoulder issues, AND fibro. I have days where I feel so incredibly frustrated that the only thing I can control is what I eat and can't burn it off the way I'd like. Hang in there! <3…
  • Well, I'm supposed to be 1200 but I'm not doing great at it. I'm also not exercising due to chronic pain so I find it tough to stay at 1200 and not be allowed extra calories from exercising. You're welcome to add me as a friend.
  • No advice since I've tried several times to give up sugar and only made it 2 days. I'm impressed you've done 3 weeks!
  • :-( Big hugs to you! Can you make yourself a cup of tea, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, and relax with a book/movie (something that will distract you from the pain?). Hang in there. I too comfort myself with food. Maybe try to find comforting foods that won't be a huge calorie explosion (hot tea, warm soup, etc).
  • I'm petite but look overweight. My therapists and doctors are all on board with me losing a little weight. At 9 months pregnant I weighed 140 so 135 might seem like not very much but I can't wear most of my closet. :-( I lost the weight after my babies but several injuries and a slowing metabolism have not been kind. My…
  • Did you find when reducing your portions sizes that after awhile you became accustomed to it? I know that at my petite size that I shouldn't need many calories and that my portions should be less but I've been eating this way for so long. I think my portions are the problem more so than what I'm eating. I love veggies,…
  • Yup, one of my problems is drinking enough water. Sometimes I think I'm hungry when I'm actually thirsty. I will work on this. Thanks for the tip.
  • Thanks for your responses. I'm just feeling defeated. I would be more than happy to be at my current weight and muscular. I am right on the border of the BMI and have zero muscle mass. Have been injured for some time so my body is really mushy and none of my clothes fit. I have lots of motivation to lose the weight but…
  • No, my goal is to lose 1 lb/week. I'd be happy with .5/week If it helps I'm 5'2" and 135. I'm in my 40's.
  • Sigh.... I feel your pain. My fibro is not too bad right now but I have multiple injuries and can't exercise. My rheumatologist told me that mild exercise was good but to "not be the star in the class". Meaning, if I'm going to take water fitness (her suggestion for fibro patients) then I need to not do it to full…
  • Give yourself a little bit of a break. Having a new baby is wonderful but it's also tiring. Enjoy this time, it goes so fast. Keep your eating on track. In no time, you'll be burning calories by chasing your toddler around the house. Congrats!!
  • Count my flabby 42 year old self too. I've been trying for awhile and have lost nothing. Not sure what's going on but summer is around the corner and I'm getting frustrated. I hate how uncomfortable I feel when I take the kids to the pool
  • Can I ask what kind of cardio you are doing? I have a chronic hip problem too and am finding the cardio part tough. For core I plug in a pilates video and do the moves that don't aggravate it. I know that is not helpful... sorry.
  • you all look great. Congrats! Anyone here in their 40's? I'm 134lbs and 5'2' and would love to get down to 120. I have been trying for awhile now and my body is really not on board with this idea. I'm feeling defeated and would love to see at least a couple pounds come off so I know it's possible. Any words of wisdom from…
  • I have oral allergy as well and I get what you're saying. Honestly I would not try the zyrtec as an alternative. I know it stinks. I would love nothing more than to grab and apple as a snack. Heating it up to be mushy apple just isn't the same. I have severe anaphalactic allergies to other foods in addition to the oral…
  • On advice of my doctor I've cut out dairy, gluten, and soy. I wouldn't recommend this as something to do for kicks but when you've tried everything else to feel better it's time to try something and I'm not big on taking drugs if there is something I can do naturally. I figured with no cheese or ice cream or pizza I would…
  • 5'2" and early 40's. I want to lose 10-15 (doesn't sound like much but I look like a different person now). I'm having a really hard time losing any weight. I track for a few weeks and get frustrated when the scale stays exactly the same. I don't feel like I eat unhealthy. I know it's calories in vs calories out. Wondering…
  • I feel your pain. I went to a naturopath and since then I've been sleeping better. I'm not sure why but I suspect that it's the supplements. Are you taking a decent multivitamin? I wonder if somehow maybe when you achieve your greatest weight loss you are also deficient in some vitamins? Just a guess. The other thing that…
  • can't do walking without irritating it further but love love love your suggestion of boxing. One of my favorite classes was a kick boxing class so maybe I can find a video that focuses more on punching activities?
  • Good luck! I know it's tough especially when you are dealing with so much stress involving your teen. I feel the same way about my son who has high functioning autism. We tried all the gluten free and other diets for him and it feels selfish to be thinking of my meals and weight loss. I've restarted this program more times…
  • THANK YOU!!! I really like this site. It explains it in a way I understand. Perfect. Thanks!
  • yes, actually walking is the one thing I can't do. :-( BUT..... i've discovered that I don't have much pain on a stationary bike so I've been slowly trying to do that. I also try to do some weight training but can only do some of the exercises so not on any consistent plan. I would love to get a fitbit..... I was actually…
  • I agree with adding in exercise/weight training. I'm very limited right now due to an injury so I would love to know what my daily calorie goal is without exercise. I'm slowly trying to add in exercise and will adjust my calories once I'm able. Thank you!
  • Tip: For breakfast blend Ice, Almond Milk, 1 Banana and Bettr n Butter Peanut Butter (100 call per serving, from Trader Joes) It's a great "sweet" way to start of the morning. If you have a nut allergy replace the peanut butter with strawberries. [/quote] *** if you have a nut allergy you'd have to replace the almond milk…
  • Thanks! He said I'm using the wrong muscle to walk(?) and thats why its going to be a long road to retrain it. Also that I might require injections. Yikes.
