I've used 4 and 7 but haven't tried one yet. Hmmm....usually when I track lifting I estimate 100 calories. HR and lifting is like a one legged man at a butt kicking contest. You can try it but accuracy will be rare.

OP---your husband has a desk job, can be called for maneuvers, etc. Adherence on this diet may prove difficult. If his goal is adding muscle he'll need a caloric surplus. If he is going to go from what he currently consumes to keto he'd need to drop the sugary drinks. Is he willing to do this? In the field, if memory…

OP--ignore this advice. Criteria for keto is 50 grams of carbs. Exercise is what you enjoy or find challenging and pursue. Your calories are at or near 1800 which seems reasonable given your weight.

I eat alligator for fun....and the wooden stick. What food do you eat and think 'I need the nutrient specific to this food item'? I get the idea it isn't necessary but I enjoy it and need energy. If we outlawed soda for example, could you imagine the bottling companies believing people would buy bottled water? Oh wait.

What I meant was what number was used to determine if someone is pre-diabetic? The number has been lowered to 'set' a 'net' for a greater number of people. IR is greatly impacted by a few things. If people would exercise(walk, run, cycle, lift, swim, etc) they 'd see improvement in the markers.

Keep your activity level at the job you perform. Sit at a desk=sedentary; light activity=waitress. Keep it simple. MFP is giving you a calorie amount based on what you entered for weight loss. 1200 calories is usually for someone who hit '2 pound weight loss' per week. You may want to evaluate this over the next weeks.…

So, stop yourself and ask a few questions. What was the pre-diabetic number in the US(the standard being used) and what was it 5, 10, 20 years ago. Now, coronary disease. The marker for coronary disease at one time was cholesterol. The total number, not ratios. The number was 240, then dropped to 220, and eventually some…

this thread will self destruct in less then 5 minutes. . . ..and go. . . .

How are you counting 'net' calories? What did you do to burn 650 calories and how did you measure it? How many calories are in a slice? What do you mean by cheat meal?

Okay. So, no coffee and not a BPC. Got it. I can sub the oil with air and sugar for cacao? I mean eventually you realize people aren't drinking 350-500 calories for breakfast this way. Anybody find those benefits of grass fed butter yet?
-
So, up thread you state you don't like coffee but here you're saying it is yummy and filling. Do you either not read what you write or not believe what you like?

Interesting stuff.

Not sure you are speaking to me, but the poster I quoted above was ninerbuff. You can PM if you'd like or take some time to read the thread it is written in, or respond to the thread since it is open. Not sure what your point is exactly.

A quote from the main forums: 'While ketogenic diets do tend to stimulate fast weight loss, one of the major drawbacks of the ketogenic diet is that a significant percentage of that bodyweight lost is muscle mass. This negative aspect of the ketogenic diet occurs despite the fact that the body typically prefers to burn…

'The recipe — a riff on the yak butter tea Mr. Asprey found restorative while hiking in Tibet — calls for low-mold coffee beans; at least two tablespoons of unsalted butter (grass-fed, which is higher in Omega 3s and vitamins); and one to two tablespoons of medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, a type of easily digestible…

says the poster with a butt shot asking 19YO's to PM her. Get serious. I mean this with all due respect. Your posting history indicates nothing but a need for irrational behavior to be confirmed by people who know better. I'll say it another way: can we make this thread about you...AGAIN. Get some professional help.

MFP entries: type in potatoes and check the entries. Surprise! How many entries are there? Why are some of the MACROS off by so much? Users enter their own data and MFP does not have a system to check all the entries. You can use USDA for food items and continue to scan bar codes and create your own useable entries. I…

Hmmm, do you have a way to 'hash' or cut the squash? For folks up thread talking about soggy cauli recipes like pizza crust I had to experiment with the tots and moisture. Cualiflower holds quite a bit of water so when you are prepping your crust for cauliflower pizza is there a point where you can tamp or remove some of…

So, something to remember, is right now, you find restricting on some days easier then trying to restrict on all days. A point I failed to remember up thread about people eating 5:2 or 6:1. You may find little change in your TDEE as you lose. There will be time where you become more active then when you started this…

Flower in the wall....what is going on there? Does she post your chores there?

I wonder what activity level someone has who can eat 8500 calories a day and not only maintain their weight but lose 7% BF? Hmmm. . . . .for how many days? Hmmm. . . .This may be derailing for the OP so apologies in advance. It is sort of interesting.

You wrote what I thought; I personally think it is great she (OP) is trying to find her way. If she averages less then MFP's 1,200 again I think her head will not fall off. I know the adage of 'missing micro and macro intake' when we dip below a certain calorie number. When I first joined over 3 years ago I remember a…

@lemurcat12: Do you get black turnips from your local CSA farm?

BTW, if you read the information provided by the OP, she weighs 192. If she doing this program of alternating between 500 and 1500 calories or whatever her daily is going to be, what was her intake to maintain the 192 pounds? I wonder if people are reading her comments or not.
-
We don't know what works for the OP because the OP doesn't know what works. She is only doing this for 90 days so it isn't like her head will fall off with the program correct? Most people here, who are and have been successful, find ways and habits which work for them for life. Trying and failing as the OP stated way up…

Exactly why alternate day fasting would not work for me. Because I am active.

Aha. Makes sense.

Okay, how are you getting the duck fat? Couple local hunters still hunt for duck. A trade of beer for duck breast and I'm in. I must be doing something wrong because.....wait. Do you get the whole bird?

I saw a British foodie show where they were making the pasty shell and then stacking the 'meat pie' on top of each other. It looked very good.
