  • Loved my cats when I had them...but I wouldn't trade my dog now for the world. (Plus, DH is not allergic to the dog, which is a good thing.)
  • I would. It might be worth a check-in with your doctor to make sure all vital signs are where they should be, but the thing about losing weight and seeing those numbers go down (especially when you're struggling w/ low self esteem and body image issues) is that it can be pretty addictive, leading you to be unsafe. I'm not…
  • So very happy for you! Well done! :) :)
  • I'm down to the last 5 (well, last 3.5 now as of this morning! WOOT!) I tried raising my calorie intake, drinking more water, working out harder (not necessarily for longer, just pushing myself more)...I'm not sure what did it. I know I was pretty far below calories yesterday so maybe that was it. The thing is, I…
  • I'm down to the last 5, too. Upped my calories for a while and haven't gained, but haven't had any real success losing, either. I'm not much help to you, but at least you know you're not alone!
  • I used to be bulimic - maybe not quite what you're dealing with, but I'm famliar with the binge eating thing. I've given this advice before here: Make a list of things you can do INSTEAD of binge eat. Go for a walk, work out, read, write (journal), surf online, knit, crochet (if you don't know how, learn! No time like the…
  • "From D'oh! to Woohoo!"
  • Sanderse, this made me cry. Welcome. And welcome back CONFIDENCE and LOVE and SELF WORTH.
  • I don't ever feel like I'm forcing myself to work out...I'm a bit stiff but not "injury stiff" if you know what I mean. I feel like I'm forcing myself to rest! Is it really necessary to rest, I guess is my main question.
  • It's not easy. I'm not qutie there yet myself some days but I love my body a heck of a lot more than I ever have. What's changed? For me...treating msyelf better and just realizing what I can *do*. I can do all 3 levels of Jillian's 30 day shred. I can do push ups. (Not many, but that's better than not ANY!) I can do the…
  • I've heard that Ana has an eating disorder history. I'm not worried that this will rear its head in regards to her advice to the contestants; I think it may actually help her be more compassionate (not that any of the old trainers were lacking) towards eating and addictions - because an eating disorder *is*, in my opinion,…
  • I wouldn't worry about a 1-day fluctuation in weight. Lots of people here will tell you (myself included, come to think of it!) that their weight will fluctuate like mad over the course of a day - sometimes by as much as 8-10 pounds. Try only weighing yourself once a week, or only paying attention to the 1x/week weigh-ins,…
  • Usually I'm not one for super-mushy feel-good stuff like this. That said, there was one line in there that did it for me...and so I thank you for the whole thing. :flowerforyou:
  • Punches/boxing. You can't really go into a squat/lunge position while doing it (like Jillian demonstrates in the 30 day shred) but maybe try it sitting on the edge of a chair.
  • Hey - if I can not worry about what I look like when I'm doing squats/cardio stuff while my lunch is warming up at work, you can not worry about what you look like wearing gloves at the gym. Right?
  • The other day I raised my arms over my head while drying my hair, and I saw MUSCLES in my arms! I was so shocked I put down the hair dryer and flexed a couple of times. And someone at work told me yesterday that I have inspired her to get in shape. Wow. :blushing:
  • JEALOUS!!!!! THIS IS SO FREAKIN' COOL! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • I guess the weirdest thing I've eaten is Plum Pudding - which has no plums in it. It *does* have suet, potatoes, raisins, currants, carrots, and apple juice (to hold it all together.) Then you steam the heck out of it for a few hours and serve it with a sauce made from eggs and sugar and I don't know what else. My mom…
  • I read a really good book, or hang out with my dog - it's hard to be in a crabby mood when he heaves a big sigh and his lips flap together!
  • I try to log everything. I don't always succeed, but if I want a perfect food journal, then it's up to me to eat that way. I don't feel guilty about days when I go over, though. Tuesday, for example, I was over by something like 800 calories. The *ONLY* thing that bothers me about being over by that much is the reason that…
  • Makes me wonder what Denny's is trying to prove...but yeah, I'd SO eat that. Once.

  • Re: weights being boring - I just started Jillian Michaels' No More Trouble Zones. It's all about firming/toning with weights, and no cardio. She goes in 6 minute circuits, so it really doesn't get boring. (Ask me how I feel about this in 30 days, but for now it's a lot of variety.) My DVD player also lets me program the…
  • Not always! In the school district I went to for middle school/junior high (this was early/mid 80s), there were wooden paddles in the rooms. Guess what *they* were for? My parents would have screamed bloody murder if any of their kids were paddled...then again, I can't imagine any of us acting up enough to ever *be*…
  • I guess it's possible that people have been told one thing and gone and done it anyway - doctors, of course, aren't perfect and sometimes do make mistakes. They diagnose and make prognoses based on their experience and education; you either trust it or you don't. I have a really good relationship with my doctor, so I trust…
  • I have a microwave egg poacher. It looks like 2 little boobs. I spray the two cups with nonstick cooking spray, put in maybe a tablespoon of water, & crack the eggs into them. Microwave for 1 minute and they're done. They're not rubbery or overdone at all when I do them that way and they've never exploded.
  • Most of my calories this weekend were courtesy of Miller Brewing Company, so I understand the whole "I blew it" thing. :drinker:  On the other hand, I had a really great vacation weekend at the cottage with my DH and family, so - yes, I knew better, but decided to have myself a weekend and get back to it today.…
  • That's so awesome! :)
  • I don't have my own kids. I used to think "knock me out, wake me up and hand me my kid wrapped in a cute little blanket!" was the way to go. Now - if I *could* have my own baby, whatever the medical professional I trusted told me was the best way to get the baby here safe and sound - I would go with that. Period.
  • Another vote for Bob Harper's weight loss yoga. REALLY helps w/ my flexibility. Plus there's all different body types/abilities, and there are 3 different levels/workouts.
  • I wear tennies - can't do plank position stuff barefoot. If it's yoga, though, I'm barefoot.
