  • I started contrave today. want to lose 40 pounds at least. I had rny surgery 10 years ago and put on 40 pounds after two babies and battling alcohol. at 45 yo...I got no time to waste! how has everyone done so far? keeping up with everyone's progress would be encouraging.
  • Also..do you store the board flat or do you lean it up when not in use? It must be stored level and flat or the calibration gets "off".
  • replaced the atteries lately? Also, are you weighing on carpet (are you using the feet that came with the board for carpet? I use mine to weigh in but I only weigh in once a week...not daily. I also do not deduct for clothing...I leave that at zero but wear the same thing whenever I weigh.
  • Also if yo have not had a physical lately you may want to have your thyroid checked just to be on the safe side. If in fact you are not eating more your thyroid could be out of whack.
  • "for the most part" Got my attention right off. Keep track of EVERYTHING you are eating and be mindful of what you are drinking as well. Some people don't realize just how many calories they are consuming with the littlethings here and there. At the end of the day it ALL adds up.
  • Unless your thyroid is out of whack, chances are any weight gain from birth control or anti depressants is do to additional eating. The hormones in BC may give you the munchies so you have to be concious of what you eat. My dr also told me that with antidepressents...if you tend to eat when you are depressed then the right…
  • I make "Protein balls" 1 cup PB (melted slightly in the microwave) 1 cup choco protein powder 1 cup oats Mix together and add a bit of splenda or sweetener of your choice to taste. I had to stop making thise because my teen neice and nephew would eat the heck out of them (and protein powder aint cheap) and then there would…
  • On ly calorie free non carbonated beverages should be logged at water (caffeine free as well) Alcohol is full of calories and those should be counted!
  • Oh I feel ya! I have a 9 month old that thinks he needs to wake up 2 or 3 times a night still! I live on coffee!
  • Somertimes you just need to shake things up a bit. Change the exercise routine...up calories once or twice a week (zig zag)...up protein or lower processed carbs. Sometimes the body just needs a break to catch up with what you have been doing. As long as you are accurate about your calories in and out, stick with it.
  • Simply eating a reduced calorie diet is not that simple. When you are morbidly obese there is more to factor in than just over-eating. For me, food was an addiction, like alcohol is to an alcoholic. Difference was...you cannot just stop eating. You need to eat to live. I needed to physically be forced to eat less in order…
  • Chances are it is the breastfeeding making it more difficult. When I was breastfeeding I could not lose anything. Others lose easily. May be age too. I was 39 when my now 9 month old was born. You don't want to restrict calories too much for fear it will affect your milk supply and your body wants to hold onto your…
  • It is nice to see so much support on this site. As someone who had gastric bypass 4 1/2 years ago I sometimes feel like others think I "cheated". Any weightloss surgery is a very personal and risky choice. I was nearly 400 pounds. Had been overweight my entire life. I had reached the point of feeling like I was slowly…
  • Not sure if I physically feel different. I lost 200+ pounds after gastric bypass 4 1/2 years ago. I do still catch a glimpse of myself in windows or mirrors and have to look twice because I still don't realize that's what I look like. For a long time I continued to go straight to the plus size clothing section first even…
  • I had gastric bypasss 4 1/2 years ago and I never have a problem reaching 1500 sometimes more. I do eat 6 or 7 times a day though. Protein shake in the AM usually and then snack about 10 then lunch at noon then snack at 2 or 3, dinner 6 and sometimes a snack before bed. It also depends on the type of calories you are…
  • Significant weightloss will affect your hormones and thus yor period. When I was severely overweight I would have the neverending period (literally)...after my weightloss surgery I almost immediately became regular. Aftger having my baby 9 months ago it did take a few months for things to even back out and as I lose the…
  • MFP does not take into account exercise. It does ask you activity level but when you exoercise and log that it will give you more caloreis to eat. The other site probably takes into account exercise from the get go so it automatically gives you those calories. Hence, the difference.
  • I know nothing about your type of injury but you might consider a recumbant bike for exercise. They are suppose to be easier on the joints, etc. If you know of a physical rehab center you may give them a call or contact a gym and see if they have experiences with these types of injuries/pain to get some ideas of what you…
  • I took a slight peek at your diary but there are somedays (I do it too) that you start to log then don't finish the day out. I know with the holiday weekend it was hard. Make sure you are logging correctly and log EVERYTHING. Not sure what the resteraunt omelet is that I saw in your diary several times but it could also be…
  • I have had these same thoughts in the past. But, in a public forum it is hard to know who is here for legit/not legit reasons. Also, remember that profile/avatar pics are not always of the actual person. May be an old pic or a pic of what they want to look like. I have seen a few topics from a person that is already tiny…
  • If you have 130 pounds to lose then you are probably fine. The more weight a person has to lose the more weight will come off at first. It will level off and then you will lose more slowly. I did not see your food diary but thecalorie count you just posted looks okay, except for that day you were under 1000 calories but if…
  • When you have walked in that person's shoes then come back here and say this again. We all choose our own paths. What is most important is that we get healthier even if your path is different from mine. GBS is NOT a cure all. It is a TOOL to help someone who may have tried everything else out there. If the bdy was of such…
  • Esercise and get more calories to eat. When I feel like I need to eat, eat, eat...I add exercise in...sometimes several times a day just to be able to get what I want.
  • It is a very personal choice and one you need to thnk about quite a bit. I did have gastric bypass 4 1/2 years ago. Lost over 200 pounds. I have pics on my profile. You may need to add me as a freind to see them but feel free to do so. I can say...for me it was the best thing I ever did. I now have a 9 month old baby (at…
  • The way I see it is the body has a tremendous ability for SURVIVAL. When calories are restricted (even minimally) the body is careful to shed weight. Some people easily shed weight when they have larger fat stores others do not. But when you feed the body after restricting it for a while it realizes that famine is not…
  • I am right there with you!....after a 200+ pound loss I have oodles of skin. Probably 20 pounds of it. I would much rather have that then live the life I had to 200+ pounds ago. I carry a pic of my oldself with me always to remember that! Girdles are my best friends! With now 2 kids...I will likely never be able to afford…
  • Don't forget that MFP calculates your calorie needs BEFORE exercise. So when you exercise like the INSANITY program you will add those back in. Just make sure your calorie count for the exercise is accurate.
  • If it is the medication causing the weight gain there is not much you can do. Some meds will mess with your hormones or thyroid and there is nothing you can do but ask the doc for a different med, if there is one for the situation. But consider....logging everything you eat. The meds or your mental state may be the cause…
  • Agree! It also depends on HOW much you have to lse, how quickly you gained it in the first place. If you have a lot of stretch marks from gaining weight quickly, your skin is permanently damaged. If, like me, you lose the equivalent of a grown man (200+ pounds), there is no way you can get away with some loose skin. In the…
  • Of course it it's ok. BUT, remember, we are not teenagers anymore! And, we will never look like we did then. It's great to strive for perfection but always remember none of us is perfect. Even the "always been thin" people have something about themselves they do not like. After losing a lot of weight things may not shrink…
