  • My go to most mornings is a fruit smoothie (325 or less calories I use frozen fruit and Greek yogurt and some water) gives me the short term energy i need to get to work (I cycle 16km with a 125m rise). Occasionally i change up and have granola with some fruit and greek yogurt. and once a week or so I have bacon and eggs…
  • I make a dressing using Dijon, White Wine Vinegar and Greek Yogurt (and shallots and herbs) works out very well and is signifigantly lower than anything that uses oils but still has a nice mouth feel thanks to the thick yogurt
  • I've had Guinness Ice cream (really very good a local shop makes various stout Ice Creams) It's Ice cream for me I quit drinking 18 month back
  • Nice, I'll have to stop and shoot some images (I did a little last month mostly Infrared)
  • I'm away for a week so I'll set my goal at 450km this month (I also have a walking goal of 150) 05/01 - half marathon walk (21.94km) no cycling (in the cold and steady rain ) 05/02 - Short 2.5km walk rest day (bloody blisters) 05/03 - 32.07 km cycling (pretty much my commute) 05/04 - 15.91 KM MTD Cycling - 47.98km 402.02…
  • This is great advise , all journeys start with small steps, the first time I passed through MFP I was starting at 53 70 lbs overweight and having recently quit smoking after 40 years of smoking, and 32 years since i had done any serious exercise. For me it was just walking, I started walking part of the way home from work…
  • It's tough to get going but i just made my morning cardio also my commute to work. I struggle with it every morning until I'm actually in motion. the benefit is I'm energized at work in a way I never was previously (I cycle 16km uphill and am getting faster daily - but i also have the benefit of a shower at work). I have…
  • i cycle 32km (or more) 4-5 days per week (my commute) , I walk 25-30 km per week (mostly dog walks - but the pace is always about 9.30 per km ) I'm looking to start C25K this month after buying some new shoes (training the dog to do that may be a stretch at first but he's smart) - with a goal of running a half marathon…
  • as pointed out two weeks is nothing, I've hit a plateau on loss for pretty much 6 weeks, but my boody shape is still changing. I took up cycling to work (16 km uphill on the way in and 16 km downhill home. I push for faster times every day. I also walked a half marathon (and did some longer walking in prep) I know it's in…
  • a couple of days late checking in but I have begun my month, I walked a half marathon on Sunday (in the miserable cold rain) to kick off the month took a day rest and am now on day two of my cycling commute. My goal for the month is 450 km cycling (I will be away for a week) and 150 km walk/run (mostly dog walks but i may…
  • the group seems to have died off while i was away from MFP, Just checking in on how everyone is doing. I'm 18 months alcohol free today actually . Feel great don't really miss it at all anymore
  • how's it going, I I forgot about this group. Today is actual my 18 month anniversary without a drink
  • Well since I bought a new bike this year the last thing i bought was all the stuff I set it up with. Bontrager Rack, Axiom Typhoon 45L panniers, Fenders, new Kryptonite Lock, Mirror (since stolen) new Bell. Next thing will probably be a better light system but no rush because i ride in daylight right now and the old lights…
  • I just spent $1300 outfitting a Kona Rove for commuting to work so Fat bikes may have to wait.(my wife thinks i'm nuts as work is 16km uphill in the morning, but coming home is a blast;) ) a fat bike (or at least a hella lot fatter than my new ride) will be needed if i want to commute regularly in winter (a huge portion of…
  • I have the Bontrager Rack above, my bags are Axiom Typhoon Aero DLX 45 Panniers. they can hold a ton of stuff and are weather/waterproof when closed properly (no dropping in the lake but I've ridden in bad weather to no ill affect on the contents. Big enough i actually manage to do most of my weekly marketing with them…
  • Sadly no ride to work for me today (just above freezing and pouring when i would have left, some days transit really is the better way. I'll hop off and walk 7 or so KM on the way home (and if it's better I'll get a quick ride to little India to pick up some Tea and spices)
  • As of this morning's Ride in to work (in the rain) I am at 373.85 km this month. I will be giving a break on saturday definitely as I am walking a half Marathon Sunday and want a rest day in there . Friday i will ride to the event registration and pick up some extra kms though (and My bib race shirt ...) the rest of this…

  • As of this morning's ride in I am at 248.4 km so halfway to the target of 500km for the month. Just leaving for the 16km home I may take a spin by the lakefront on the way and add 8km or so - and some protein, when i road it Saturday i was eating bugs a good chunk of the way ;)
  • Great work everyone, as of the this mornings ride to work I am at 248.4 km , it looks like it's going to be a beautiful week so should be easy to rack up the km barring any catastrophes. about to leave for the 16km trek home (may drag it out a bit at the bottom and take a spin by the lake which is good for an extra 8 k or…
  • I sued to do it a couple of years back at a different job that was a more realistic 6-7 km each way (still uphill on the way in) I got pretty quick, towards the fall that year the beater i was riding blew a toire and rim on a pothole, needed brakes and a new front tire as well, put it to the side and then didn't ride to…
  • Ok late to the party on this one. I'm in though 500km (which is about 300 Miles for the metric illiterate) I picked up a 2015 Kona Rove AL on a clear-out last week to commute. Great bike. I'm on day 5 of commuting combined with my food shopping from the weekend i have hit 167.1 KM so far, the ride home tonight will be a…
  • ok found this halfway through the month i will set my cycling goal at 550km (I started Biking to work on the 7th after picking up a new bike the 6th. At this point i have done 132 km and shortly will head out for a 16km ride home. leaving just over 400 km to do before month end (320 of those KM will come from the work…
  • ok I'm in, I did hit my twenty by easter (231-209.8) so SW 209.8 GW 189.8 Been stuck at or about 209 for 2 weeks but I'm cycling 32-35 km a day right now so i'm losing inches (though my thighs are getting harder ) May 1 I'm walking a half marathon (last time i did that I lost 2 pounds that day lol) Good luck everyone
  • this is the easy win, commuting we all have to get to work anyway so if you can manage it riding to work is a no brainier. I just bought a new road bike for that purpose (my old beat bit it) 16 km each way uphill in the morning and downhill at night (and i take a longer route home sometimes) 4 days a week rain or shine (or…

I just eat back…
