I have great muscles under the fat. I just cannot seem to get rid of the fat. I was a wine drinker for years and years. I quit alcohol for the rest of my life 3 weeks ago. Yes, I had a problem. I am hoping that cutting out that sugar really helps in the long run. I can do ab work til the cows come home but I just cannot…

Hi Terri, I am 53. Was thin my whole life until I got a bit older...Now trying to lose. I will tell you what is working for me right now. I quit alcohol completely. Had some issues with it. Once I did that though, I started losing weight around my middle. I also log what I eat and stay under my calorie limit. I eat…

Don't weigh yourself. Go by how your clothes fit. It's not the pounds you lose but how you feel.

Mix ground turkey with eggs and spinach. Great protein breakfast that you can eat any time of the day.
-
Oatmeal for breakfast. I add blueberries, flax seed and some walnuts. Keeps me full until lunch. If I eat anything else for breakfast, I am hungry way before lunch. I try not to snack.
-
Thank you all. Interesting thoughts.

You are sucking the fat in by putting on muscle. Good for you!

I am doing this program too. Run slower. Don't worry about pace right now. Just get your stamina up. I am walking at 3.4 and running at 4.4. I will increase these as I build but starting slow is the key I think.

I can't sleep when I am hungry either. I will get up and have a few crackers. Maybe not the best snack but it helps and carbs help me sleep.
-
I'm doing it now. I love it and my stamina is building up fast. I had none before. I got really good running shoes which helps a lot. We can do this!

Thank you for your kind words but what you said about me being obnoxious? I am not obnoxious or wrong about what I said. It's fact. I don't go around preaching to anyone but I stated it here to make my point of why I stopped.
-
This is exactly what I am talking about. It does make a difference. Good for you.

I don't eat them back. I work hard to burn the calories, why would I eat them back?

Foam roller. My glutes were killing me the other day. Rolled them out and oh what a difference!!!

I just started running. I have gotten lots of great advice on this site about it. I get fatigued in my lower legs. I was just fitted for new running shoes at a running store. Turns out I was pronating which probably caused the fatigue. I ran on my new shoes today. I felt great. My legs felt great. Get really good shoes.…

I think the hardest part is realizing that I am a flawed person. Why can other people have a drink or 2 and be done but I can't. More is better...I know it's not but that's how I felt. I asked someone at AA last night. Why? She said because you are an Alcoholic and they aren't. Didn't help much but I get it, sort of. My…

I am quitting too. 3 days now and counting. Going to my first AA meeting tonight. No more "I will just have a little" and no more, "I'll quit for a while then start back slowly"...nope, nothing has worked. I have to quit for good. OMG, can I do this. I will do my best.

I joined. Thanks for the advice on this group.

Oh my goodness. Thank you all! Such great advice!

WOW! I am so impressed. I just started training for a 5k. Im doing the Couch to 5K program. I am not a good runner. I have no stamina but I have wanted to be one forever. I am now 53 and in decent shape but I cannot run for a long time. So, one of my resolutions this year is to run a 5k race. So far, so good in my…

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He is the ONLY celebrity I want to meet.

If you can afford a personal trainer, even for just a few sessions, do it. They can get you set up on a good routine and show you how to do things correctly which is really important. Also, ask people at the gym what they do if you see someone that is in good shape. Most people are very willing to help because most people…

Salads are hard. I like to just throw what I have on hand in there. I try to be as accurate as I can but I do use the quick calories of 100 now and then just in case.

If all those people out there who have had success than you can too. You want to have a long and healthy life. Eat well and move. Maybe set a goal for yourself...I just started training for a 5k. One of my goals is to run a 5k race this year. Or, schedule a vacation. Goals or trips always help me.

Hi, My sister had this problem. I don't have a great answer for you. I just think steroids tend to make you want to eat more, crave more, etc...I think your best bet is trial and error. Instead of chocolate, have an apple with peanut butter. Instead of ice cream, have a yogurt, etc...I know it's not the same but you may…

I am just starting out and doing the couch to 5K so I need the seconds especially since you run for say 30 seconds then walk for 30 seconds and so on.

Thank you all for your input. I have decided to eat mostly the Whole30 way just because I do much better losing some weight without the carbs like breads. It's hard but that is one thing I can do. But, I'm not going to kick myself in the butt if I eat some.
-
I am only doing it for the 30 days. Yes, I want to lose some weight but I also want to clean out my system of sugar, alcohol, etc...I thought this may help and then I'll see where I am and how I feel in 30 days.
-
OK, so maybe instead of Keto, just go lower carb?
-
Thank you all. Very good and helpful advice.
