Weight does creep up on you and it's harder to lose when it's in certain spots. It's just a fact of life...but, you don't have to accept it! I am 54 and one day I said, heck with that, I feel mentally 25 and there is no reason I can't feel that way, so I made some big changes in eating and drinking and I feel better than I…

Trader Joe's. Best nuts at best price and they came in unsalted varieties.

I use a BCAA drink once in a while for an extra energy boost if I am feeling sluggish before a workout, other wise I don't use them. Pros...caffeine and will give you a boost. Cons...can make you jittery if you are prone to that.

You look great! Good for you, keep at it!

This was me. I was drinking way too much and it was affecting my relationship and my life. I was trying to lose weight and no matter what I did, i was like a hamster on a wheel. Something had to give. I had my bloodwork done and my triglycerides were through the roof. Drinking can cause that. So, I decided that being…

What are your goals and do you want them bad enough? Exercise is great for stress.

Excellent article!!!

I do eat before a workout. I workout in the morning. I will have something small like toast with peanut butter or some brown rice with an egg. I like to have a carb to fuel my workout and a protein to help recover. It's what works for me. I do pretty intense stuff so if I go on an empty stomach, I lose my steam too fast.

Of course you would wash them before bringing them back, but yes, you can return them. Seriously.

I am a big fan of Athleta. Good quality but a bit pricey. The best thing is that if you work out in it and don't like how it performs, you can return it.

I am very boring. I like to eat the same thing so it's easy to log. I grill a bunch of chicken at the beginning of the week. Every night I eat a 3 oz. portion with a cup of steamed vegetables. Sometimes I add some brown rice. I keep things very simple. Works well for me.

Fat burners don't do anything but make you jittery because they are caffeine. Drink coffee and work out. I do take fish oil, CoQ10, Vitamin B12 and D. Not for fat loss though but for health. There are no short cuts. You need to work out, sweat and eat in a deficit.
-
The first thing I would do is to go to your Dr. and have blood work done to make sure you are not deficient in anything. Since you have lost your drive and energy, there could be an issue. Once you do that, you will have a better idea of what you should do. A gym, weights and cardio are your best bets.

I do a kickboxing workout which does incorporate strength training.

Yea, I was like, "What the heck happened"? But it also took several days to get the pump back again...ugh!

I like Optimun Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. However, it is a bit pricey. I like the chocolate. It mixes well and is great with just water.

Motivation...you want to be healthy and happy. You want to be able to move around easily. You want energy. You want to look and feel good. You want to wear clothes that you feel good in. You can do it. If you want something bad enough, you can achieve it.

You look great! Keep it up!!!

OK, I have adjusted my protein goal a bit lower. I am not sure about my calorie goal. MFP still wants to have me at 1200 based on what I input on my goals. Again, I am trying to be lean and strong, build some muscle and lose fat.
-
WOW, you look amazing! All you did was add and not take away?

In and Out cheese burger....sooooo goooood.

Squats are awesome. My favorite thing for getting great legs and glutes.

I'm not trying to lose a lot of weight. I am trying to lose some of the flab and replace it with lean muscle. For what I am doing, I have read 1 to 1.5 grams of protein for every pound. Which mean I should actually be eating more but I am sticking to the 120. I can't even reach that. I like what you said about the exercise…
-
1200. It's what MFP calculated for me. I did change the protein, fat and carb amounts though for building muscle and leaning out though.
-
For me it's feeling good. When I eat well and exercise regularly and see the weight come off and my strength increase, that is all the motivation I need. I just want to feel good and be healthy.

I am 5'4'' and about 130lbs. I am 54 years old. I work out hard, doing weights, kickboxing...I am not a vegan. I have set my protein goal to 120. I am trying to lose fat while adding muscle/definition. I eat lots of chicken, eggs, brown rice, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc...I do have a protein shake after my workouts.…

Grilled chicken and vegetables.

I think about what I am doing. If it's weights, I focus on my muscles and the movement. If I'm doing HIIT, I think about my strength and how to keep going. I think you get more of a workout when you focus on what you are doing...

I have a fitbit and log my active minutes.
