  • There's a machine at the gym called a LAT pull down. You sit on a bench and lock a little padded support bar over your knees. Then you reach up and grab a bar and pull it down toward your chest. I can't tell you exactly why, but that's worked for me.
  • I think your scale is on crack!? That's crazy, it has to be water weight or something like that. There is no way you gained that much back in 2 days. Drink water like it's your job and see what happens in the next few days!
  • Welcome! Start liking yourself and it will make you a lot more successful! Realize that even though you want to lose weight and you may not like how you look, you are an awesome person! Good luck!
  • I don't know about the other website, but I say trust this one. I've been on it for about 2-3 months and the calorie counts and projected weight loss is extremely accurate for me!
  • It's hard to enjoy healthy foods for me too sometimes. I recently picked up a Betty Crocker 300 meals under 300 calories cookbook. It's a lot of real food made so that it's lower calorie. Basically the recipes taste like you are eating real food not the pages of the book. There are also a lot of cookbooks that "make-over"…
  • I usually count it because the egg does absorb most of the oil......
  • I don't feel like you can post your rant while your profile picture clearly shows that you don't follow your own advice. I agree that people need to eat healthy foods and make good nutritional choices, but it isn't fair to tell someone else how to live. If an occasional big mac works for you, then go for it.
  • That depends on when the wedding is!
  • I wouldn't even give it a second thought. Moral of the story: You're a size 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • That's pretty cool, but about halfway through I got distracted and started thinking wow that guy has a lot of different pairs of underwear.....
  • I wouldn't freak out too much, it was one bad day. There are people on here who advise taking a day off and eating whatever you want to keep your metabolism strong. I don't really believe that theory. But, a bad day isn't going to ruin everything you've done. Just move on from it and continue your week as you normally…
  • I've had a lot of people lecture me about counting calories, you're already thin , blahblahblah.... I don't tell anyone what I'm doing on my phone, I could be texting.... if they do ask I tell them I'm doing it to track nutrients.... iron levels, vitamin levels, etc. Somehow that's more acceptable than counting calories.
  • Water flushes out the sodium! Try your best to eat less packaged foods and such, but if you will feel too deprived and just eat like crazy eventually, then don't worry about it! Go for 12 glasses of water a day at LEAST!!!! <3
  • Not the best plan. I've done it. It's basically one big laxative plan. Sorry to be graphic. It knocks some weight off because it's cleaning out the waste from your body, eventually it all comes back. No point. If you want to do a cleanse they have some kits with pills you can take in addition to your healthy diet. Those…
  • Take a few days off the exercise, and eat a little more on the calories. Just doing this for a few days shook my body up and I lost again when I was stuck. I was also stuck one time before this and I changed the type of exercise I was doing for a few days. Your body adapts to a routine and then it doesn't do what you want!
  • I think you need to focus on what YOU want. Forget what your family and friends think and stop imagining what they "must be" thinking. I know I would sit there and wonder if everyone else thought I was fat. What matters is what you think. If you feel you need to lose weight, then do it for you. You are always going to have…
  • Protein isn't a bad thing as long as it is lean protein. If it's greasy fatty protein, then avoid it. The more you exercise the more you need protein. The only negative thing I ever heard was that too much protein can be bad for your heart.... I have NO IDEA if that is true, so research it before you quote me! It may have…

  • MFP gives you back your exercise calories to eat. If you burn 1000, you can eat an extra 1000 and still hit your goal. What I do is make sure I eat a minimum of 1200 calories, and I eat back about half of my calories from exercise. You do need to eat a little more if you exercise a lot in my opinion. Just look at your food…
  • There is a fat burning supplement called CLA... it is a natural supplement, not a crazy diet pill. You can get it at any health food store. You need to take 3,000 mg a day for a month before it will do anything, it's slow moving, but it targets belly fat. I usually do not put any faith in pills but it is working for me.…
  • I'm a huge fan of Larabars, they are like a meal bar type of thing but they taste a lot better. I also wrap salami in a tortilla because I can eat it while driving.
  • I didn't take a before picture. Congrats to you for having the courage to do that! You'll be glad you did it. I notice a difference in my body, but it would be nice to have a before picture to really see the changes better.
  • Usually you can read the packaging on most things and find out what a serving size is. After seeing what that looks like for awhile you'll be able to determine what a serving size of something you cook is. Also, some people use a scale to determine how many ounces of a food they are eating. When you put an entry into MFP…
  • Be careful when you are doing weight machines or free weights. You want to make sure that you are doing the exercise correctly and that you are getting the benefits from it. There are a lot of people at the gym who put 100lbs on a machine and do 5 crazy fast reps and call it toning. You want to do light weight and more…
  • Same here! I become out of control if I let myself slip one day. Also I gain pretty fast.... maybe because I'm short!
  • I had my gall bladder out and I was generally fine if I avoided dairy and greasy fatty foods. I wouldn't worry about the percentage of fat, just avoid anything that's fried or has a lot of oil. I ate a ton of fruit before I had mine out because it was all I could stomach. Also, brown rice. When you are having a gall…
  • Make sure you eat back some of the calories you burned from exercise. MFP recommends eating them all, I usually eat back half of them. It helped me!
  • I took your advice and read up on the implanon. I wouldn't worry about it making you have a harder time losing weight. I am on the depoprovera (oh geez can't spell it) shot, and everytime I come close to being due for my shot I gain about 3-4lbs. That weight comes back off within a week and isn't truly weight gain, just…
  • Great job! It gets easier to keep going. This is a lifestyle change, eventually it doesn't feel like a diet. You look great!
  • I change what type of exercise I'm doing when I get stuck. Like if I usually do eliptical everyday, I'll run or do the stairmaster, or something to totally confuse my body.
  • 1200 calories is the miniumum you should eat per day or you put your body in starvation mode and gain weight. Make sure you aren't under 1200 calories daily. Also, for exercise calories I eat back half of them. Sometimes I burn 800 calories in exercise so 2000 is way too many calories for me (I'm 5'3"). Once I started only…
