I'm hearing you. Feel like I'm obsessing over getting workouts in and thinking about food! Becoming anti-social too! And yet still not getting results. Thinking there's got to be an easier and more effective way. Great to hear that you've lost inches. I measured myself today and I'm probably down a tiny amount - but its…

Great to hear. Did you increase your calories by much and did you do it suddenly or gradually? Did you increase your exercise at the same time?

Thanks, that's the message I'm getting from a few people so you are probably right! (I'm a convert to using forums for advice!!) My plan is to aim for around 1300 NET cals and see what happens. I do drink water but don't track it. I probably don't drink enough though (so should start tracking it). As for sweets in…

That was the blow out! Candy bards are pretty rare (usually) and certainly not in my plan (other than protein bars). I will try to cut down on the sodium and go back to low sugar though - good points!

Wow - you sound like you were previously quite like me. THanks for your advice. Sounds like a bit more moderation is key. So good to hear that you've managed to break the cycle by changing up your diet and exercise. Well done. Hope I can do the same :)

Thanks for your help. I'm already fairly muscly but the gym work is probably my favourite workout. Just sick of so much cardio. A few days of rest would probably change that though! I definitely like the strong look (and know its healthier) so I guess that was a stupid question :) BTW, I just had a peep at your diary. Do…

Sounds like a good plan - I'll try it (and try to get over my all-or-nothing personality)!

Does anyone have a view on whether its better (easier) to exercise less and keep calories eaten lower, or eat more calories and exercise more? Eg, if I'm aiming for say 1400 NET calories a day, am I better off eating 2000 and burning 600, or should I just eat 1400 and chill out a bit more? Perhaps go for a walk or…

Good to hear from you :) Glad to know I'm not the only one finding this difficult. Seems like it should be easy (just eat less, exercise more), but it doesn't seem that way...

I've had a DXA scan a while ago and that and the gym fat measurement scales say my body fat is about 22%. I'd like it to be 15%. So if starvation mode is a myth, is upping my net calories crazy?

It's true I don't have heaps to lose but definitely a few kilos (I can grab handfuls of fat on my hips and tummy!) Weights are helping me tone and I'm getting some definition on my arms and back, but quite a lot of fat down below!!

Thanks heaps. I've now opened up my diary so that anyone can take a look. With calculating the calories required, I've got quite a low heart rate (mainly genetically) and so I'm concerned that both my basal calories are lower and also that my exercise cals are lower. (My resting bpm is about 45 and if I'm walking its…

Thanks everyone for your advice. I kind of suspected that I might not be getting enough cals but I am extremely nervous about deliberately increasing them. Is there a good way to do this so that my body doesn't hang onto them? (Ie should I jump up to about 1400 Net immediately or is it better to creep up slowly?) I really…
