Thanks for posting this article. I have been using the rowing machine as part of my warm up for strength training because it used the whole body, but now I am thinking maybe I should use it more.

XX_miss--the first time I did C25K I felt worse in day 2 than day 1. I figured it was my body's way of testing my resolve. It did get better afterwards. So hang in there you are not alone. Congrats Ishli.

Tonight was my first night squatting not on a smith machine (originally it was recommended to me but I have learned better on MFP). I started at a much lower weight and I am glad I did because it let me focus on form which feels more shaky without the smith machine to guide me, but as I am sitting her I don't feel it as…

Summer--I have been doing a combination of lifting and cardio because I want to lose weight but not become skinny fat. On cardio days I use C25K. On weight lifting days I use NROL4W. Pudding--I am also meeting with a personal trainer once a month just to make sure my form is good as I go through everything the first time.…

Since a couple of people mentioned cycling, I have been wondering if I could use the same interval training concepts in C25K to build up my endurance on a bike? It seems like it would work but I was wondering if anyone else had tried it? I went to the gym tonight and went through a fitness test to see how much I had…

As someone who has starting C25K many times and never finished it (yet), I figure each time I start I am working harder than I would have otherwise. And so while I won't say I am successful with my goal yet, I don't call it a complete loss when I start over. One day I will get through it. And I can honestly say I feel…

I have to run on the treadmill because I need the gym child care for my daughter while I run. Music is fine for me, but what I love is listening to audiobooks. I find myself getting so lost in the story that I don't even think about time/distance until I hear my cue and change my pace on the machine. But to answer your…

This weekend was so crazy. My daughter is in a dual language program which means she is learning in Spanish and English. I love it, so I am not complaining about the program. However this weekend I learned that my daughters program participated in a Day of the Dead celebration and contest and they really wanted the kids to…

Jo--I think I am dreading math even more because I am learning that with common cores they are teaching everything differently. How am I supposed to help when the way I learned is completely different from the way she learned! Ugh! Sorry soapbox. Luckily she is only in kinder so I have a little time before I figure out…

@jsandie76 so sorry to hear that your shoe change made such a big impact on your performance. Was it a different brand of shoes?

I got some cardio in on Saturday morning, but ended up spending Saturday night walking all over a corn maze/Halloween park with my family. When I woke up to do my Sunday morning workout, my legs were so sore. I decided it wasn't worth trying to go to the gym because I wasn't going to be able to get a good workout in. I…

dna--I may have to follow your lead. I think better menu planning would help me save time and money in the long run... maybe? I completed Stage one Workout 5A. My legs were so sore I couldn't bend down to tie my daughter's shoes. I had to get her to sit somewhere where I could reach them. LOL

I am not done but I don't think I would have been able to stick with a running program without C25K. I would have either gotten overwhelmed or even possibly injured without the structure of this program.

I just found this in a group that I joined here on MFP: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/926789/protein-sources The list breaks it down by meat/vegetarian friendly/vegan friendly. Hope it helps.

It was a step class that also included some weight training. Ok. I can see that bicep curls have uses. I just kept thinking of all the mocking things Lou said about them in the book. Today ended up being a rest day because I had to attend a school event for my daughter. I can't wait to get back to the weights…

@carmenFL1560 getting fit for running shoes was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I never knew (because it never impacted me before) that I walk with my shin lined up on the inside of my ankle (I know there is a fancy word for it that my new best friend at the running store said--but it escapes me at the…

Instead of doing the next NROL4W workout, I joined my sister and family in a step class. The class wasn't bad but all I kept thinking was that I was missing my workout. I don't think I am going to do it again, but for tonight my arms are so sore. Has anyone ever had the feeling after reading NROL4W that classes emphasizing…

Is it a cotton blend? I find that some of the athletic wear meant to wick away moisture helps to get rid of the suffocating feeling when I work out.

Elsie--interesting picture/message. I have been wondering if anyone has or plans to do NROL for Abs? I wonder if he discusses that idea in that book? Congrats on your deadlift! Ali--love the perspective of lifting away your frustrations! Barbell--do you think working on planks more often would be a better way to improve…

My sister went to the gym with me today and decided to lift with me. Historically, my sister is the more athletic of the two of us and today was no exception. She is already able to squat and row weights I worked the last three weeks to get to. And a part of me wanted to say "ah hell!" but then I thought about it more.…
