  • I am really hoping you both are right. Balance has always been a little bit of an issue for me. I am pretty good on my right side, but very weak on my left. But I am going to trust in the process and get better. I have been thinking that December is the real test of fortitude, but then I wondered if it is really…
  • I started stage 2 today, wow what a difference from stage 1. I have a question that I am hoping some of you who are further along in the program can help me with: With the dumbbell one-point row--my balance is more challenged then my back. I started with a lower weight as I was trying to get used to the movement, but I am…

  • Finished W4D2 today after doing Your Are Your Own Gym workout Day 2. It was leg focused and let me tell you my legs are definitely feeling it tonight. But it felt like such an accomplishment to finish it. Now I am going to go lay down and read a good book while I let my body start to recover.
  • Thanksgiving was fun, but I know I ate way more than I should have or normally do. I am hoping to go to the gym tonight to make up for it. But we will see how my daughter is feeling. We did some black friday shopping this morning (not the super early stuff but more midmorning, and I think she is tired.
  • Happy Thanksgiving to all the runners out there who celebrate it. And I hope to finish week 4 on Friday (no child care at the gym today). I am so glad I started this program and pushed through the scary parts. It has been such an amazing feeling to lose myself in a run.
  • I would also recommend You Are Your Own Gym or Body By You by Mark Lauren. I read both, and although the second (BBY) is geared towards women I preferred the first. YAYOG also has an app for iphone (and I think for android but I don't know for sure since I don't own one) that I think is fantastic. Both were available…
  • I have been working through New Rules of Lifting for Women, and I will say that having a plan in mind when I went into the weight lifting session helped build my confidence. I knew what I wanted to do and what I needed to get to do my routine. i put in my ear buds and just focused on my own thing. And for the most part,…
  • As much as I love cooking, I am just as happy to go to my cousin's house and just enjoy the festivities. I am so glad there are family members that want to do all of that preparation. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate. And to everyone else, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday! I am doing some…

  • I am also in week 4. I am at 4.0 for many of the jogging sessions so far, and sometimes 3.8. It isn't fast but I am using jogging motions and not walking. So my two cents is slow down. Long term, I want to get up to a faster rate of speed, but the experienced people here have always said speed will come as I build…
  • Ellie you are not alone. I am also a single parent. I am not currently dating. I would love to find someone, but first I have decided to focus on me and my daughter. I know I have some stuff to work out for myself before I try to meet someone. For now though, I am really loving having the time to focus on me and my…
  • Trail running is something that I am hoping to get into after I finish c25k. I feel more confident about the transition now that I have worked with a podiatrist to ensure that my feet are properly supported.
  • StrawberryJam--This may sound silly, but I had not thought of continuing to walk on the treadmill after I finish a session. Now all I keep saying to myself is "why didn't I think of that?" LOL. I may give myself the chance to finish listening to the rest of a given chapter of my audiobook!
  • The first time I started c25k, I was outside and overweight. For the most part, I was so focused on my audiobook and listening for cues that if anyone commented or gave me a sideways glance, I never noticed. All the people I talked to in the running community were incredibly supportive. So I'd say go for it. Now I'm doing…
  • Since it was a rest day for c25k, but I had extra time at the gym I decided to use the program to guide me through intervals on a stationary bike. I have to say it made the bike ride so much more fun for me. I have never been one who could sit and pedal for 30 minutes straight but having the cues to up the intensity and…
  • I officially finished Stage 1. I am excited to move on to Stage 2 but cautious as it looks hard (that is both a good and a bad thing I think). But I am determined. I may have to split the B workout over two sessions though--maybe to the interval work at lunch and the rest of it during my evening trip to the gym. But I…

  • I usually eat breakfast as soon as I wake up (6-6:30ish). I try to take my lunch to work, and include an easy to eat while working snack for bout 10am (almonds are my current go to). We have a gym at my work, so I usually try to get in about 30 minutes during lunch and then eat afterwards (my boss isn't super strict about…
  • WTG Lazybuthealthy! I am not sure I would have been able to do it if I had been in your place so I am incredibly impressed with your determination.
  • So sorry cala! And I too have times when I know that logically the weight gain is water weight but it still is a little deflating. Of course when the water weight goes away then I do celebrate that as a loss.
  • I second (or third or fourth--I lost count) the bluetooth head phones. I started off with a cheap pair from Amazon to see if it was something that would work for me. Now I am asking for a better set for Christmas! I wish my gym had wifi so I could watch netflix while doing cardio. I did see someone today with a portable…
  • ^^This literally had me laughing out loud.
  • Week # 3 – November 17th -- Goal 180 minutes: Mon: 0 (my daughter was out of school sick so no gym child care for me) :disappointed: Tue: 35 (cardio) Wed: 35 (strength) Thur: 0 Fri: 0 Sat: 60 (strength and cardio) Sun: Total 130 min left: 130 /180 Week #1 120 minutes/180 Week #2 150 minutes/180
  • Dazed--I thought I had read this question in the daily chat thread so I kind of responded there. Oops. Anyway, I am also at the special workouts and so I re-read that section. I think the point of them is to show us how far we have come through stage one to help us with motivation as we jump into stage two. So I don't…
  • Congrats jo! Did my first of the two special workouts at the end of Stage 1. I really hated it. I mean I am pretty sure I got out of it what I was supposed to (that I can do more now then I could at the beginning), but one set of a lot sucks. I ended up just getting through it and then going for a run, which meant I didn't…
  • I finished W4D1 today and it was one of those days where I felt fantastic the whole time--like I could have run longer. I have slowed down and so my distance has really not gotten better since week one, but I understand that will come in time. It was just so awesome to get through 5 minutes of solid running without…
