You can put a floatie (not sure if these are what they are actually called) between your knees and just work your arms. It takes some getting used to but you can still do flip turns (though that might be more torture than flutter kick) and it is a good exercise anyway. :) Best of luck!

I think I win. My twin brother forgot my birthday.

I swam competitively in high school, but in college I just make it to the pool once a week. I used to only swim a mile (all freestyle) but I've been upping it in recent weeks ... now at 1.75 miles in 53 minutes.

I haven't lost ten pounds yet, but I'm on track to hit that milestone at the three month mark (middle of May). I started out at a healthy BMI (23ish) and my ultimate goal is only 20 pounds down, so I don't much to lose. I set MFP to lose 1 pound a week, but so far it's been more like .75 pounds a week, because I'm not that…

This might be helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/790005-5-8-5-11-women-before-after-pics BTW, I am 5'10", started at 165, with a goal of 145. I have lost about 7 pounds, and haven't seen a difference yet. Here is my before picture (I don't have a during, or after one): NSFW ETA: I had some technical issues…

It doesn't seem that unreasonable to me, as you would still be solidly in a healthy BMI (19.9). As others have said, though, numbers can be deceiving; you might want to try to lose fat and gain muscle, essentially maintaining your weight. FYI, I'm 5'10", currently 158ish, looking to be 145ish.

+1 I want to start lifting but I don't know how to start, and I'm a little nervous about looking like a noob at the gym.

Rising sophomore majoring in architecture and minoring in environmental studies, and after my bachelor's, looking to get my master's in urban planning. ;) Feel free to add me.

Also make sure you don't exercise that day or the day after. :)

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that your mother is making you feel that way. She probably is upset that you can be happy with your weight and image and she can't. You might want to do yourselves both a favor and get her to see some counseling for her eating disorder.

I usually tend to have less of an appetite after I exercise (except for swimming, lol) and I try to eat a light lunch before my workout so I don't get nauseous, so I find that on days that I go to the gym, I am well under my daily calorie limit. That being said, I try to force myself to eat back some to get me above 1200…

Almost done with Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. As both a twin and a college student, I can really relate to the main character, plus she's just so funny! Actually laughed out loud multiple times ... great read!

These are my before pics. I'm 18 years old, 5'10, and started out at 165 (the weight I was at when I took these pictures). Right now, I'm around 160, and my ultimate goal weight is 145. Go average!

I weigh myself every Monday before my swim (usually 12:30 ish) because I'm at college and the only scale I have access to is at the gym. Once I'm home for the summer, I plan to continue weighing myself once a week, but in the morning after I've peed but before I eat/drink. I also don't log any weight unless it's a…

Didn't read all the responses, but here's a list of what I've watched recently/am hoping to watch soon: Merlin Lost Pretty Little Liars Vampire Diaries Teen Wolf The Originals, Reign (these are on their first season, though, so not on Netflix!) Friends Boy Meets World American Horror Story Once Upon A Time Orange is the…

Got my mile swim time under thirty minutes! Now if only I could get my 5k runs to be that fast :grumble:

I'm a college student going to a Boston school, but I grew up in Amherst and my family still lives there. Anyone training for the Turkey Trot?! P.S. Feel free to add me! :)

On Fat Tuesday, I went 600 calories over my goal, so for the next four days (including today) I just tried to have an extra 150 calorie deficit. It's not something you can make up for in one day, but then again, it's not going to throw you completely off if it's one isolated incident.

Because while your immune system might be able to fight off the virus, you are endangering people with compromised immune systems. It's a public health issue and honestly just a nice thing to do. Would you rather someone die than get pricked for five seconds?

I'm giving up sleeping in! Which for me means getting up at 8:30 every morning instead of just 4 out of 7 ...

Find a workout buddy! You (hopefully) wouldn't want to stand them up, plus a little competition never hurt anyone! Well, maybe it did ...

You're giving up a meal?! :noway: EDIT: By the way, giving up sleeping in! Which for me, means getting up at 8:30 :blushing:

That's great, but probably not sustainable, eventually your body will go into starvation mode, and your metabolism will be lowered so much you will find you will stop seeing any progress. I'm 5'10, 18 years old, and weigh about 162. My daily calories are 1510, and that's with the 500 calorie deficit. Unless you have a very…

I will probably give up something non-food related. Last year I gave up Netflix. :)
-
I would suggest finding a workout buddy, because you won't want to stand them up. Plus a little healthy competition never hurts!

The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Super long, but definitely worth a read if you're into historical fiction, as it's a feminist take on the Arthurian legends.

36C and I sleep in a bra and everything. The only bras I can't stand for more than 12 hours are my strapless ones that have a reason to hang on for dear life! If I shower at night though, I won't put one on just to go to bed. Used to be uncomfortable lying on my side or on my back (boobs would shift) or on my stomach but…

Well, if you have a calorie deficit of 500 (any more is not really sustainable, in my opinion) it should take you 71 weeks, or almost a year and a half to reach your goal. However, that is a really conservative estimate because I don't want to get your hopes up. ;) Here are a couple success stories of people that around…
