  • I also have Hashi's & Weight Watchers Worked for me back in 2010, but then they changed the program. I am back to MFP because calorie counting works. True with thyroid problems I don't lose the 2 pounds a week that I used to be able to do so easily.. this time my goal is 1 pound a week & I will be happy with 1/2 pound at…
  • I don't think going under 1200 calories is a good idea. At age 55 I actually do better at around 1400 calories- your body will think it's starving at under 1200. Just make the calories "good ones".
  • I never plan cheat days, but if I hit a plateau that lasts for a week or more I will have a cheat day- & I usually end up losing big the next weigh in.
  • I love water & don't drink any soda's or other beverages (except coffee or occassionally tea). I put 6 rubber bands on my wrist each morning & take one off each time I finish a bottle of water. It helps me to remember to drink during the day which is my biggest problem.:drinker: :
  • I was 17 & a friend taught me. I was so nervous my leg would shake when I put the brakes on. I drove around our subdivision. I took my drivers test when I was 18 and passed the first time. Was out driving that night & made a right turn on red (which had just become legal here).. got pulled over by a cop because the law…
  • I lost 29 pounds in 2010 & 2011. I then had a "break" which ended up lasting a year & I've gained back 20 pounds. I am back on track as of New Years day & I will NOT do that to myself again. You have lost 14 pounds! That is amazing! If you stop now, I guaranty you will gain that plus some in a year! If I had stayed on…
  • It has helped me to learn so much!
  • They might as well log breathing in my opinion! I don't log activity points for general day to day moving around. Yesterday I took down all my Christmas decorations & even though this is not normal activity I didn't log since I didn't feel like I was doing something deliberatly to work out.
  • I count everything since a calorie is a calorie no matter what... I hate counting the cream in my coffee though! I've also done weight watchers & they don't count fruit. However, many of my WW friends end up eating so much fruit because it's "free" that their weight loss slows down. You are only cheating yourself by not…
  • Sounds like you are on too low of a dose to me. I still have my thyroid & I take 150 Synthyroid a day. If you are on facebook I would suggest a group called "Thyroid Sexy". This group has helped me so much with Thyroid questions. It was started by Gena Lee Nolen (actress on BayWatch). She was diagnosed a few years ago…
  • You are not eating enough! Burning 500-600 calories in a workout & eating only 1400 calories has made your body think it's starving. Eat your exercise calories!
  • You sound like me! I started back again yesterday. At 170.8 pounds after having lost 30 pounds in 2010. Back then I started at 179.8 so I am starting from a slightly lower number this time & MFP definately helps. My goal is 30 pounds by May 11th.. (my vacation). Good luck!
  • You are so lucky Synthyroid has worked for you for so long. I'm back on it after trying Armour which did not work at all for me. Synthyroid doesn't work that well for me, I am up to 150 per day & have no energy. There is a facebook group called ThyroidSexy or SexyThryroid run by Gena Lee Nolin & Mary Sholoman (may have…
  • I too have low body temp 97.2 average- I have Hashimotos. I lost 30 pounds in 2010 doing Weight Watcher but gained about 15 of it back. I've been back on track for 32 days now & have lost 8.2 pounds. I have to force my self to exercise but I have found that if I run as fast as I can for 3 minutes (about 6 mph).. I lose…
  • I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis... If it ends up being low thyroid it's much harder to lose weight than just taking a pill every day...The doctors will tell you take a pill & you will be fine.. the problem is everyone is different.. I've been fighting this battle for 6 years & still not feeling like I did before. However…
  • I too am in my 50's- overweight, AND have had success with Weight Watchers! In fact I lost 30 pounds on WW last year. After finding out some bad news in Nov. 2011 (my hubby has liver disease and kidney failure) we both quit smoking cold turkey and I have gained back close to 20 of those pounds. So I am back on track as of…
  • I think that is awesome! Think back to 4 months ago & you weighed 23 pounds MORE than you do now! I lost 30 pounds last year & then found out that my husband has liver disease & kidney failure.. that made us both quit smoking in November 2011 & since then (with all the stress) I have gained back 20 of what I had lost! So I…
  • I was taking 112 Synthyorid till 3 weeks ago when I finally talked my nurse practioner into letting me try Armour. I am taking 90 mg of it (equivalent of 150 Synthyroid) It is working so much better for me! (In fact I am up at 3:13 AM & just did 1.25 miles on the treadmill.) I haven't read all the posts here yet but do be…
  • Hi Jodie, I'm not "new" here but today is my first day back in about 3 months. I lost a total of 30 pounds last year- have gained about 15 of them back. I too am starting to run (as of today)... I'm doing "The couch to 5k" plan. I also just quit smoking 10 weeks ago so that helped to bring back some of the weight. Add me…
  • Today is 10 weeks of being a non-smoker for me & I have gained about 6 pounds! Today is also my first day back to MFP & my diet & exercise program (I lost 30 pounds last year)... My key to quitting was the patch for the first 3 days. After 3 days I was fine (still occasionally want to smoke but not enough to pick one up).…
  • 6 years dealting with Hashi's & fighting my weight every day! I finally found a nurse practioner who prescribed Armour Thyroid instead of Synthyroid (which didn't help me). I was able to lose almost 30 pounds last year using Weight Watchers but have since gained back about half of it. Today is day one starting back for…
  • 2 thoughts: First, when I came off Depo I gained weight- I also found out I was hypothyroid about a year later, however your symptoms & energy (working out etc) don't fit hypothyroidism... Second, it sounds like maybe you should be eating more... with the amount of exercise you are getting your body may think you are…
  • I'm also 5'7" & goal is 135- although I look best at 139.. I try to give myself a little room.. Starting at 164 today.
  • Totally depends on your metabolism... A heart rate monitor is the only way to know for sure.
  • Mine is 2, but I'm happy with any loss!
  • Phentermine definately works but I have trouble sleeping when I take it. Remember Phen Phen from years ago? It was a combo drug that they ended up taking off the market because people were having heart issues. Phentermine is one of the two drugs that was Phen Phen. I suggest the 30mg instead of the 37.5 if you have any…
  • I tried Atkins back in Summer of 2009. Low carbs, high protein.... lost 23 pounds in 2 months but gained it all back when I quit. I like my carbs too much. Last July I started Weight Watchers and using MFP & have found that a healthy balance of all types of foods allows me to lose weight & know that I can stick with it…
  • A calorie is the same no matter what you eat. I've been on Weight Watchers since last July.. at the beginning of the year they changed the program to allow us to eat all the fruits & veggies we wanted & not count them. People started gaining weight! Many of us (including me) have gone back to the old program & are losing…
  • Body weight fluctuates alot during the week. I always weigh in the morning, without clothing. You haven't gained 5 pounds in a week, you would have had to have eaten 17,500 extra calories to do that. Also different clothing weighs different. Don't stress it!
  • I have Hashimotoes.... it is hard but it can be done..I've been on Weight Watchers for nearly 9 months & have lost almost 30 pounds. About 15-17 to goal & I plan on getting there!! Good luck- feel free to add me & ask any questions.
