  • Those were good. I was surprised by how many were true of me.
  • Thanks for the info, KnitorMiss. My favorite part of the meat is the fat so I will keep it in mind for down the road.

  • One thing I plan on incorporating, hopefully soon is bone broth, as soon as it cools down a bit. It's been so hot here lately, although I could make it in the slow cooker, I guess.
  • Kitnthecat, I will send you a friend request. I'd love to see your "boring" food diary :) I'm familiar with Mark's Daily Apple but I'll have to check out Nom Nom Paleo. Lucky for me, my husband mostly eats what I cook so I don't have to have a starch on the side for him. He usually keeps Ezekial bread in the house for…
  • Other than the article I posted, I had never seen anything about taking a potassium supplement but it definitely made a difference for me.
  • I second what KnitorMiss said about Fat Bombs. Those are really good to have around as long as you don't binge on them. I currently have been making some Mounds bat type fat bombs with coconut oil. I usually have 1 or 2 a day to get my coconut oil in. I've also made peanut butter ones. If you want any of the recipes, just…
  • Meal prepping is definitely a big help. Another thing that really helps me is having low carb treats and foods that are like the foods I might miss. I don't have to have them often but I do like them sometimes. I make low-carb bread, muffins, cereal. For a snack like chips I have either baked pepperoni chip, baked cheese…
  • I used to eat a lot more meat and then I found out that excess protein is turned to glucose and I don't want to eat much meat anyways so I decided to go low carb, high fat, mod protein.

  • I've been doing low carb for a little over 2 years. I've felt such freedom from this way of eating that I never want to go back. I guess you could say I had a bit of a slip last fall when I was eating things that were a little more carby (like a fast food sandwich without the bread but still had a carb coating) and even…
  • Thanks for the info on how the magnesium has helped. I am planning to make some magnesium spray soon. I currently take Natural Calm and it helps with pains and helps me to sleep but I feel it makes me agitated sometimes too so I've been thinking of trying the oil instead. I've heard that the topical magnesium absorbs…
  • Wow, a whole tsp of salt in the morning. I might try taking extra salt and see what happens. I will have to look at the Pure Encapsulations Mag and Potassium.
  • That is great about your blood sugar and having a lot of energy. I've been starting to feel better over the last couple of weeks as I've been transitioning to high fat and cutting back on carbs and protein.
  • I think one of the possible bad effects could be Reactive Hypoglycemia. I was doing low carb, high protein for a while and then I stayed mostly low carb bust started eating things that were higher in carbs like protein bars and some fast food items. Back in January -March I had a few strange episodes during the night where…
  • Thank you so much for this! I'm going to start another thread so I don't hijack this one but I've had such problems with the fluttering and it's kept me from doing keto for about a year. I'll write more in my other post.
  • I've heard that it's easier for younger people to drop the weight but I think that women our age can be very successful with this. I understand what you mean about not having time to fill in your food each day. I've been doing low carb (not keto) for 2 years now and I haven't tracked my carbs or food and I believe that's…
  • My husband and I have an egg cream for breakfast every morning. There are lots of recipes out there and you can do many variations but ours is just eggs (yes, raw eggs) heavy whipping cream and cinnamon and turmeric in the blender. I use 3 eggs, 3T heavy whipping cream and 2 sprinkles of cinnamon per person. The turmeric…
  • Amazing transformation! Congratulations! You look great.
  • Forgot to mention that when I was watching a video today by feliciannurse, she said to set the goals of MyFitnessPal to 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs so that's what I did today.
  • I started out 2 years ago doing low carb. I had read that there was an experiment (I think it was in Why We Get Fat) where 2 men ate only meat for a year and had no bad health effects. So I often didn't try to get veggies and often just ate meat for a meal. Then I slipped into eating more carbs for a few months. Not going…
  • Thanks, for that info. I do have an endo. I'll have to ask her to do a full hormonal panel. Thanks again :)
  • I've been doing low carb for two years but am just now transitioning to high fat. I focus on eating healthy fats like butter, coconut oil, palm oil and olive oil and try to avoid soybean oil as much as possible. I'd be happy to make some friends here.
  • I'm just learning a bit about hormones now so I don't really know what mine are doing right now. I am on thyroid meds and get hot flashes so that must mean something regarding my hormones but I hope to learn more about it. Hopefully switching to high fat will help.
  • Ah, you are familiar with Healthful Pursuit too. I discovered her about a month ago. I made her flax muffins two days ago and I really liked them. I haven't tried her Rocket Fuel Latte yet.
  • I've been doing oil pulling for over a year and I really like it. I actually tried it the first time several years ago and wasn't able to tolerate it, but this time I was able to. If you have any trouble with the oil at first, just keep trying. I feel like my mouth is so much cleaner when I do oil pulling. I usually do it…
  • I haven't been tested or diagnosed with Celiac but I decided to try going gluten free a couple of years ago and noticed improvements, mainly a huge reduction in gas. I had tried going off of wheat and/or white flour so many times in my life and was never successful. What I've found that has really helped is going low carb…
  • One of my cats is on a diet too. We've been gradually cutting back on his food so he doesn't get Fatty Lipidosis. He hasn't been happy about it. He's much more lively now though. Before he used to sleep all the time and now he's more active. Sharon
  • Thank you for the info. I've heard similar things as far as amounts of water go. I have a book called Your Body's Many Cries for Water which is interesting but a bit of a technical read. One thing I've been wondering is how much water it's ok to drink at one time? I'm doing Clean Eating (as much as I can) and Tosca says,…
  • Thank you, Jill. That sounds perfect. I'll look for it. Sharon
  • I wonder if you've been stretching or not. I had something similar happen to me last year. We bought an elliptical in January and since it's a no-impact exercise, I thought I didn't have to stretch. Within a couple of months or so I noticed a pain in my left thigh area. It was kind of a pulling pain. Sometimes it was so…
  • I've struggled with binge eating for many years. I believe it started when I started my health quest and things like white flour and sugar became "bad." When I would eat them, I would binge on them thinking that was the last time I would have them. But of course, it wasn't. One thing that has helped me is the principals of…
