  • Thanks for all your advice! I really appreciate it.
  • Hi friends! Add me if you like. I will be 30 in a month and a half and I would like to lose about 35 lbs (I am 5'7'' and weigh about 175-180.) However, I may focus is mostly on become fitter, stronger, and more confident. I was in much better shape a few years ago and would like to be there again.
  • I hate unnecessary packaging. Or packages that are impossible to open.
  • I like "It is doesn't get easier, you just get better at it." And I put this one on my FB today: "Most people never get there. They're afraid or unwilling to demand enough of themselves and take the easy road, the path of least resistance. But struggling and suffering, as I now saw it, were the essence of a life worth…
  • So I will weigh in and decide on a goal and set up my ticker tomorrow, but here is my deal, in a nutshell: From my profile: I want my outsides to match my inside. I like to think of myself as a strong, outgoing, beautiful woman but I don't think others always see me that way. I have always been unhappy with my weight to…
  • I am trying to figure out how registration transfers work. Clearly it is possible to transfer your race slot to someone else OR it is possible to change the time/ location of the race but keep it in your name. I wonder if it is possible to do both.
  • I also am running my first warrior dash soon (in Sept) and have been looking for advice. There is a lot of info out there already: people's descriptions of the race, training reccomendations. I used the search feature and have found a lot of good advice that others have shared in previous posts .
  • I have a recipe for tuna burgers that had Dijon mustard, lite italian dressing, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper as needed, formed into patties and browned. Leave out the egg and breadcrumbs and cooking and add a smidge of finely chopped onion and it is a nonmayo twist on tuna salad. Both are yummy :)
  • I am not in a CSA, but we have always gardened at my parents' house. This year we have had zucchini out the wazoo, and have made chicken sausage "lasagna" with zucchini "noodles," zucchini burgers (the recipe is here in the message boards somewhere), zucchini cake, cookies, and bread, baked breaded zucchini, sausage…
  • Rachael Ray has a recipe that I love that has poblano's stuffed with a smoky roasted corn and tomato stuffing and covered with cheese, then baked. It is like a healthier fake out of chile relleno.
  • Does any think that Aunt Flo has gotten meaner as they have lost? It seems like lately I have more PMS (like being all irritable and emotional and a little crampy and tired) well before (like a week and a half) I start, in addition to the usual agony of the actual TOM. What the hell. This was never an issue before.
  • You guys rock! Thanks for all the advice and thoughts! It all seems really helpful!
  • I am not comfortable about tooting my own horn and don't highlight my accomplishments well or I push myself to do so, and feel fake and like I am bragging and they can see right through me. I can't really seem to balance showing my personality and enthusiasm and being poised and professional. I just hate the entire feeling…
  • I worked as an CNA for almost two years saving money before I got back into school. While every bad thing that anyone says is true [it is completely unglamorous grunt work, some nurses are useless and condescending and not helpful or see themselves as "above" doing "aid's work," it is easy to get overworked both by the…
  • Yeah I actually prefer the AM just to have it done with, but my running buddy can only do PM :( I like the bandanas with ice idea.
  • Sorry I can't help...I don't have boy parts.
  • I did C25K too and now I feel I can safely call myself a runner. I started and restarted C25K about a million times, jumped back in at the middle a few times and repeated days or weeks whenever I felt the need. I reccomend that...make the program your own and do what is comfortable for you. Push yourself sometimes and you…
  • Are you eating your exercise cals? I would try eating a little more (even if it is only one or two days a week), because strictly sticking to 1200 cals is probably already a deficit. Then exercising creates a bigger deficit and if your deficit is too big, your metabolism slows. This is just a guess though, open your diary…
  • What I find annoying and offensive is when I eat with others and they make their choices and I make mine. THEN they note that I am eating less or choosing healthier options and they feel free to judge and call my choices "lame" or "weak" or something equally stupid. As if being a glutton is a strength. Hogs. Bah!
  • I can't seem to relocate the video/ article (from RunnersWorld.com) that I saw that recommended backwards running as an exercise to improve form. The demonstrates a warm-up, dynamic stretching, then a series of exercises (like carioka, backwards running, etc) for about 200 meters (maybe, I don't remember) each before a…
  • I hear ya. I have never been on the pill, and it has never been a huge deal. Aunt Flo used to just show up, no PMS symptoms at all, and make me crampy with horrible backaches for a day or two, then hang around for a few non painful days and then gone. But lately, I am bloatly, exhausted, emotional, and crampy, for days…
  • Thanks! Def gonna check it out!
  • I haven't really looked at the MyPlate plan, but did see an article in which Jillian Michaels sounded off about it. http://www.everydayhealth.com/healthy-living/we-need-policy-not-plates.aspx
  • Add another 12.5 for me!
  • I have been movin' it, just not doing a good job of keeping count. Think I am at 31 miles, give or take a few.
  • Current mileage: 8 Goal Mileage: 65 I know I said 55, but I think I am going to bump my goal up to 65 miles.
  • I'll give this a go...I am going to shoot for 55 miles of walking, jogging, and maybe bicycling!
  • No eating out of containers! Put things in a bowl or on a plate to not accidentally eat half the carton of ice cream.
  • I am right there with ya. Good old TOM is on the way AND I usually don't have much seasonal allergy/ sinus trouble, but suddenly I do and I am tired, cranky, and insatiable. GRRR. Right now I am just keeping my meals small and letting myself snack and munch (on good things) all day. Hummus, apple and cheese, half bowls of…
  • I run because sometimes I really do love how it feels.
