C210K distance or time goals?
Hi everyone! I was looking for some input on whether to focus on time or distance as I advance through a couch to 10 k program. I am in the 8th week of the program and am running 28 min without stopping, but the program states "run 28 min or 2.75 miles without stopping" this week. So far I have just ran the timed intervals…

My stupid freakin' job
Actually it isn't stupid at all. I am a RN in cardiovascular ICU and I am really proud of the work I do. I love it. But, it is freaking tiring sometimes. And it work rotating shifts. Which wears me out even more. How do others that rotate find the energy to get workouts in and cook healthy meals? Cause I know that all I…

Does anyone wanna run the warrior dash?
So a friend of mine (Kel) wanted to sign up for the Warrior dash and talked her sister (Jen) into doing it with her. Then Kel told me about it, and I wanted to do it too. So we all signed up and since then Kel and I have been working to get ready, running like 3-6 times a week and have a pretty quick 5K time going. However…

Need ideas for food to take to a par-tay!
So my bff's birthday is today and her hubby is planning a weenie roast/ bonfire tomorrow night. Fun, right? However the menu seems to cover the basic no-no food groups: processed, sugary, salty, fatty, and alcoholic. (Hot dogs, s'more stuff. another friend is bringing a cheeseball and crackers, cake). So I was trying to…

Can someone (specifically any RN or HR pals out there) help
Ok, I know this isn't what MFP is for...but this is about meeting a goal which means less stress and more financial freedom which will help me eat better and continue to work on being a happier, healthier me. So I think it should be allowed. I know, I know, I am stretching it a bit there, but here it goes: I have an…

Warrior dash advice
Hey party people! I was just wondering if any of you have run the Warrior Dash. A friend and I signed up for it September (in Carrolton, Ohio) and I was hoping for some training recommendations and an idea of what to expect on race day. This is my first race ever, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Running when it is hotter than balls
Does anyone have any tips or clever ways to get through your run when it is this hot? I don't want to forgo my runs, but I am already sweating like a *kitten* in church while I am only doing house and office type work. I stay insanely hydrated and try to run in the evening, but it doesn't seem to cool off til well after…

Who's a champ?
Well you are. Duh. Keep up the GREAT work! But I am too! Today I ran 2.75 miles without stopping at a 9:30 min/ mile pace. Which, for all you speedies out there running your marathons and super quick miles and yada yada, I know that isn't that impressive. But for me, that is really good. It has taken me a long (read…

I was just offered a telemetry job interview four hours from home and instantly got excited, nervous, anxious, and a bit frustrated. Thoughts are racing: What if I get the job? Please please please I want a job! But moving is annoying and being that far away is a tigde scary. What if I don't get the job? I am so tired of…

How much water
So I always hear drink at least eight glasses or your weight in lbs/ 2= ounces to drink, BUT drink more if you exercise or drink caffiene or eat lots of sodium. So my question is how much more? I drink constantly and never really feel thirsty, so how do I know when I have had enough?

I double dog dare you to...
Do GREAT things today! I dare you to put in some extra effort! Push yourselves! Either in working out or in watching what you eat (or any other area of your life that needs extra attention), we all know what we are struggling with or slacking off at and what we need to do to fix it. So DO IT!

A few weeks ago, someone posted all the measurements and math need to calculate body fat percentage which I thought was really useful, so I bumped it. Or so I thought. I can't seem to find that thread again and was hoping someone could repost it. Pretty please?

Biggest Loser for Wii?
Does anyone do the Biggest Loser for Wii game? I have been doing it for quite a while and love (well it is more of a love/ hate feeling, lol). But Idk about the number of calories it burns. I have been logging it here under "Calisthenics home, light/ moderate effort" and adjust the time til I get the calories that the game…

What kind of calories?
OK, so I have been "watching" what I eat for a while: I make a general effort to cut snacking, fast food, sweets, etc. Because I felt like this general "eating better" plan wasn't showing results very quickly and made it very easy to slip up, I started using MFP and watching what I eat closely. After only, two days I see…
