If all the exercise is new for you, most likely your body is just retaining water for muscle repair. That should even out soon.

you aren't doing yourself any favors by lying to yourself. Log everything. hold on... I just looked at your diary, OP. 1240 calories for a MAN? Why are you eating so little? Did you have gastric bypass or are you only 4' tall?

I check out the restaurant's online menu or nutrition guide if they have one, and plan accordingly. If I can't do that, I just aim for foods that aren't deep fried.
